Salamanders 40k Combat Patrol Review
This box means business. You’re getting 20 miniatures locked, loaded, and itching for a fight. Anyone thinking they can stand up to the Sons of Vulkan is about to get a very loud, very melta-flavored reality check.
Plus, you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, with the Salamanders’ “Combat Patrol rules.”

Is it Worth It?
Of the newer CPs we’ve seen, this is decent in terms of value (especially compared to other Space Marine Chapters). Plus, you get a pretty interesting and elite force of Salamander-style units.
If you don’t have everything in the box, this is a great buy. But, you don’t get the new Vulkan He’stan miniature, which is a little annoying as he’s the only new Salamander-specific model for the army.
How Many Points Is This?
So, you’re wondering what it’s looking like for Salamaders Combat Patrol points? Well, in games of Warhammer 40,000, this box should be about 500 points.

What to Buy Next?
Well, you have a good mix of troops with this box, but it doesn’t force you into any one style of play. However, the number one thing we would get next? The new Vulkan He’stan mini!
While this box is a great starting point, it is only 500ish points, meaning you’ll still have the vast majority of your army to collect. So, don’t forget the rule of cool, and to add some tank support. Or even a Dreadnought or two!
Final Thoughts From Us
All in, the new Salamanders Combat Patrol brings the heat literally and figuratively. You’re walking away with a 500-point core that doesn’t feel like a random grab bag, and the savings stack up nicely next to other recent boxes.
Sure, Vulkan He’stan’s absence leaves a bit of a gap, but nothing says “space dragon justice” like loading up on melta and rolling out with Adrax and friends. If you’re building a Salamander’s force or just want some heavy-hitting units with a side of fire, this box is a solid pick.
Just don’t forget to budget for tanks. And maybe a few extra flamers. You are a Salamander now, after all.
