Is it Worth It?

Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata

Compared to a normal Combat Patrol for 40k, this actually has great value! If you’re planning on playing Mechanicum, you can’t really go wrong with this box.

It gets you a good starting force with some big, heavy constructs to back everything up. So, whether you are a new player or have a decent army, this basically gets you a Thanatar for free, and that’s a deal we’ll take any day.

How Many Points Is This?

Well, if you’re wondering about the Mechanicum Combat Force points? In games of Horus Heresy, this box is around 700 points (can change a lot depending on how much you upgrade and equip your units).

What to Buy Next?

Mechanicum Heavy Support ForceYou’ve got a solid mix of units in this box, and it doesn’t pin you into a single playstyle. Six Thallax give you mobile firepower and scoring presence, backed up by two Castellax Battle-automata who can hit like a truck. Then there’s the Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata, which is basically a walking artillery piece that makes sure your opponent never forgets where they left their cover.

If you can pair this with something like the Mechanicum Heavy support Box or pick up more automata, you’ll be well on your way to a seriously intimidating force.

Of course, down the line, you’ll still want to grab more support options: Krios, transports, or some Tech-thralls for objective control. The Mechanicum shines when you can mix layers of machines into a brutal wall of firepower.

While this box won’t get you all the way to a full army, it’s a fantastic starting core. Points-wise, you’re looking at a decent chunk, and it’s perfect for smaller Horus Heresy clashes while you build up toward the big battles.

Final Thoughts From Us

So, is the Mechanicum Combat Force worth it? Absolutely, if you’ve ever wanted to roll out a squad of murder-robots backed by a walking artillery platform, this is your ticket. It’s not a complete army, but it’s a seriously mean starting point that gives you solid mobility, brutal firepower, and one very angry Thanatar ready to light up the battlefield.

We think this box gets you plenty of Mechanicum bang for your buck.
