Here’s a cheaper and easier-to-use Vortex Paint Mixer for painting wargaming miniatures and our thoughts on if it passes or fails!
This VALUEDEBUT Mini Vortex Mixer is super affordable and could be perfect for painting your miniatures and the old hobby budget!
This is about half the price of the LabGenius one Rob (check out Rob’s video on how it has held up after a year here) has been using for a while now, so he had to get one for himself and see how it works!
If you’re looking for a way to get your paint shaken up without spending all kinds of cash, this might be perfect for you!
Vortex Paint Mixer for Painting Wargaming Miniatures
This has some pretty cool features, and the price has remained pretty good even though COVID, so that’s a plus. Let’s look at all the specs on it:
- 【Simple operation】easy to use, just put the sample to be mixed on the top of the machine. The surface of the agitator is smooth, compact and maintenance-free. The vortex mixer is small in size and easy to carry.
- 【Mix in 5 seconds】 110V-240V wide voltage design, more widely used. Excellent mixing ability can mix the most liquid in 5 seconds. Just place the sample to be mixed on the top of the machine.
- 【Anti-slip base】 The tattoo vortex mixer has 6 suction cups, which can firmly fix the vortex mixer in place during the mixing process, The rubber suction cups base will ensure that the mixer will not swing when it is working.
This is slightly bigger than the LabGenius one, but not by much, so it probably won’t make a huge difference in the types of paints it will work on.
Unboxing
The Vortex Mixer from earlier is at least 4 times heavier, so Rob likes the lightweight, but we’ll have to see if that’s a good thing.
However, it does have suction cups that do stick really well, so it should help with shaking.
Next, to use the older shaker, you simply put a paint bottle on the top; however, it is frustrating because you have to hold it on the whole time, and it shakes your hand pretty hard. Who knows, maybe over time, this could lead to wrist problems.
What’s nice about the new one is you actually sort of click the paint in and don’t have to apply that downward pressure. While you still get a little shaking from it, it’s way better than the other one. It’s a one-click turn-on, a one-click turn-off.
How Does it Work?
Rob just held this paint on there for a few seconds on both ends (if the paint is really separated). It actually mixes it really well, and even on the paint that had some coagulated parts, it mixed it pretty well.
What He Doesn’t Like
One annoying thing is that the rubber on top seems near impossible to clean, not the biggest thing ever, just pretty annoying. But that’s really it; it feels hard to beat for the price, but we’ll have to see how it stands the test of time past a handful of months…
Overall, it doesn’t have as many features and doesn’t look as nice, but since it’s half the price of the other one, this feels hard to beat!
