Mythbusted or Confirmed- these are all the GW rumor engine bits that have been solved with their new models revealed!
With Games Workshop’s preview cycle fluctuating a bit, at least in terms of solving old rumor engine bits, these new ones getting solved are pretty exciting!
Here’s the most up-to-date list of new Games Workshop bits from preview models that we should keep an eye out for. Click on the gallery above to see dozens of Rumor Engine with new models still left to be revealed!

A Vessel For Good: GW Rumor Engine Solved
This bit is interesting, the candles and metalwork make it instantly look like Sisters of Battle. However, the Adepta Sororitas have thus far not been all in the idea of displaying corpses, at least with recent models. They do have skulls and even parade around the casket of Saint Catherine.
We were off the mark with this one, it wasn’t Sisters of Battle at all, but rather Black Templars! While they are certainly similar, the Templars are certainly much more savage in some of their methods of spreading the faith.

Big Red Detonator: New GW Rumor Engine
This bit features a clawed hand holding some sort of detonator remote. Firstly, this bit is going to be in the SciFi setting, immediately knocking out the possibility of AoS.
This is most likely coming to 40k, or perhaps a specialist game. Second, that hand is strikingly familiar to man Genestealer’s hands, along with the carapace-like armor on its arm. Lastly, the technology also resembles Guard, and in turn Genestealer Cult technology as well.
Just like we predicted, that hand and technology was clearly a GSC model!

Imperial Guard Booby Traps: GW Rumor Engine
After first taking a look at this bit, Astra Militarum immediately comes to mind as a possible home for the full model. With Imperial Guard still needing their 9th edition update, this looks like a perfect match. Not to mention Catachan has received a few rumors here and there in the community over the past year.
To us, this looks like tripwire and a mine, perfect for purging enemies of the Emperor by surprise!
Get The New Sci-Fi Ruler Miniature!
We initially thought this may have been an Imperial Guard bit, but it ended up being for Genestealer Cults. With so many cross-overs between the two that is completely understandable.

New GW Rumor Engine: Ogor Maneater
Well, the treasure chest is pretty easy to see what it is right away. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to place however because, in the AoS world, there are plenty of treasure hunters and little holds of gold. While it could always be something for 40k, we’re basically ruling that out for this one.
The most obvious guess for this one (to us at least) would be a new Maneater (or paymaster) for the Ogor Mawtribes. As they are big enough to make the chest look small and then the models already have chests all over them.
It’s hard to see here, but that treasure chest is definitely on Blackpowder’s left side!
We were closer with this prediction, however, getting a little spicy with the vampire coast didn’t payout. There are still a few more pirate-themed bits to be solved, so maybe there will be more pirate warbands coming to Harrowdeep.
There is one more model that we may know what these bits go to, but not quite when the model will be released…
Missing Kruleboyz Rumor Engines
This strangely looks like the bird above slightly photoshopped, as they are both very similar and standing on some sort of outcropping.
So what is he? Well, chances are he is probably another Store opening-like (or celebration) model release.
They tend not to be all that great and often are one-off characters with simple rules. This might be a stretch, but he doesn’t look like a complicated character, and he does seem to fit the idea of a “unique but not overly powerful” character that the celebration models tend to be.
Of course, this is speculation, all we know for sure is that he hasn’t been seen anywhere else besides this image and is an official GW model.

Candlelight Vigil: New GW Rumor Engine
This bit features and metal structure and some burning candles, which is immediately symbolic to one army in particular. Sisters of Battle, or Adepta Sororitas, are very well known for their excessive use of flames, whether that be candles, giant censures, or flamers. They really do take the idea of “Purifying Flames” quite literally.
While Sisters might be the easier answer, this could also very well be a bit for Age of Sigmar. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see a Nighthaunt or Cities of Sigmar model with this on its back like the old Bright Wizards in Fantasy.
Good thing we doubled back because as it turned out this really was a new Nighthaunt mini!
August 3rd, 2021
Blood For The Blood God: New GW Rumor Engine
Looking at this rumor engine, it looks pretty easy to place, but it’s still super tricky because there is no clear indication if this is for Warhammer 40k, or Age of Sigmar.
It’s easy to see what could be flowing blood, however, this could easily still be some other liquid, as the image is only in black and white no matter what our minds might think.
From the look of it, we haven’t really had many bloody bits for Chaos specifically Khorne in either systems and really blood has been mostly used for Daughters of Khaine
Well, we might have mentioned Khaine… but not that one! This one is in 40k for eldar!
October 5th, 2021
New GW Rumor Engine: Ogor Maneater
Well, the treasure chest is pretty easy to see what it is right away. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to place however because, in the AoS world, there are plenty of treasure hunters and little holds of gold. While it could always be something for 40k, we’re basically ruling that out for this one.
The most obvious guess for this one (to us at least) would be a new Maneater (or paymaster) for the Ogor Mawtribes. As they are big enough to make the chest look small and then the models already have chests all over them.
We got the race right! but not quite the purpose as this one turned out to be a pirate in Underworlds!

Fire Dragons or Special Weapons: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Day 7
While we may have called for Fire Dragons before, this bit looks even more like their weapons, pushing the envelope even more. While it might not guarantee it, it certainly makes it more likely that they will be lucky enough to get an update!
We suppose it could also be any of the various special weapons for units like Storm Guardians…
Pretty close for this one, however, it ended up being the new Autarch and not the Fire Dragons or Storm Guardians…
December 12th, 2021
Chaos Invasion: Advent Rumor Engine Day 11 & 12
Day 12 of the advent engine is also here, but this one is notably more Slaanesh. Curved swords typically represent more finesse, something that Slaanesh definitely has over the other Chaos gods.
Perhaps this is a sign for the next set of updates coming to the Emperor’s children as the defacto Slaanesh CSM chapter… We would also mention Drukhari, but unfortunately, they don’t use Chainswords at all.
It could also be for a Striking Scorpion too…
In a weird kinda way, this one was way off from our prediction! However with the new Autarch having so many options its not likely many people got this one right either!
December 28th, 2021
A Whip of Slaanesh: New GW 40k Rumor Engine
With nearly a month without a normal Rumor Engine, it looks like this time they are easing us back in with an easy one! There’s only really a handful of factions that even use whips! Slaanesh, Drukhari, and Daughters of Khaine…That being said, Slaanesh Daemons might enjoy the love!
Last but not least of the newly solved engines is this whip and lucky for us we got this one right! A new Daughters of Khaine model is on the way!

Hair Blowing in the Wind: Advent Engine 2021
Well, first off, the border looks an awful lot like Wraithbone if you ask us. Since this is the first one, we’re not sure if it’s a nod to the faction or if this is just the border they are deciding on for all the engines. With that said, Eldar seems a very obvious choice for this one. However, that ponytail could also easily be for Tau.
As it turns out, this is for Eldar Rangers, except now they are on bikes (pictured below)
December 2nd, 2021
Totally Not Eldar: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Day 2
Day 2 follows the same border style, potentially suggesting a common theme throughout the Advent Calendar of rumor engine bits. This one clearly looks like another Xenos bit, almost certainly Eldar. There is also a slim chance that it might be Tau as well, but with the border and likelihood in consideration, Eldar seems to be the way.
We were closer with this one, and even suggested that the rumors of Eldar Ranger Bikers were true! Spot on!
December 3rd, 2021
New Eldar Rangers: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Day 3
Day three of the Advent Rumor Engine from Warhammer Community is here. While this looks like it may just be for a new Eldar Ranger model, when you compare them to the current models, it’s hard to be 100% honestly.
That ammo stick/stabilizer thing was an easy guess, and as it turns out we were spot on again thanks to it. (Image below)
December 4th, 2021
Rangers On The Way: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Days 4 & 5
Day four of the Eldar Advent Rumor Engine from Warhammer Community is here. And it seems to be more of an acrobatic pose. With all the recent engines and some rumors point towards new Rangers, this seems like an easy bit to add to the list when you compare it to old Ranger feet above.
Another perfect prediction, but will most of the engines pointing towards similar kits, that is expected!
December 8th, 2021
Phoenix Lord Rising: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Day 8
While this plume looks a lot like the ones we have seen for units in AoS like the Light of Eltharion, but maybe this might just be a new Phoenix Lord Asurman or Exarch?
Looks like the AoS prediction was a little too jumpy, as there haven’t been (and doesn’t look like there will be) any AoS models from the Advent Engine bits. But we have the Autrach image below!
December 9th, 2021
Dark Reapers Ready: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Day 9
This bit is another super easy to place one with one very clear option. Dark Reapers! Thanks to their pretty unique muzzle, it really can’t be much else. However, the same thing goes for these as we said about the Fire Dragons…
Games Workshop has consolidated designs before, so there’s a slight chance this could be Maugan Ra, another heavy weapon (for infantry or even a vehicle), or even something brand new!
Unfortunately, that weapon tip was not for a new Dark Reapers kit, but instead is a weapon option of the new autarch!
December 11th, 2021
Chaos Invasion: Advent Rumor Engine 2021 Days 11 & 12
Day 11 of the advent engine is here, and it’s notably more chaos. We didn’t notice it before, but the frames have changed slightly over time (Day 1, Day 6, Day 11), perhaps suggesting a finally of a completely corrupted chaos border. Either way, this very clearly looks like a Chaos Space Marine Claw…
It was Chaos Space Marines! Even better, it is a new release of Chosen, as the old kit was previously never individually released.
December 13th, 2021
Warp Smith Claw: Advent Rumor Engine Day 13
The new Advent engine is quite possibly the easiest/most obvious one yet! This just has to be a Warpsmith! The only real other possibility is seeing a new model like the Lord Discordant, but seeing how badly Warpsmiths need the love it’s the only real option for day 13.
Not much to say, that was a freebie!
December 14th, 2021
Eldar Jetbikes: Advent Rumor Engine Day 14
While this is clearly a rider of some kind, it doesn’t particularly scream Eldar. However, there are some circular shapes on the vehicle and there appears to maybe be a soul stone on their boot! When you combine this with recent rumors, it looks like they might be coming true!
With all the previous engines starting to stack up, it made the guess of Eldar Ranger Bikes way easier, and we were right!
December 16th, 2021
Chaos Corruption Rising: Advent Rumor Engine Day 16
With the Engine border getting more and more corrupted every 5 days, the newest engine is looking more and more chaotic. This bit is clearing a head or helmet, but for what or who!?
Our Drukhari guess would have been interesting, but unfortunately for our record, this is definitely Chaos only. No Drukhari this time around.
December 17th, 2021
Mauled By Chaos: Advent Rumor Engine Day 17
This Advent Engine, very clearly looks like a power maul for Chaos Space Marines, but who or what might be wielding it?
We got the faction right which was clear, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for new Berseker’s with a new weapon option OR and new character model, instead it’s another bit to the new Chosen!
December 18th, 2021
Chaos Overwhelming: Advent Rumor Engine Day 18 & 19
Day 18 of the advent engine is here, and it’s more Chaos. The chains and hooks are definitely Chaos or at the very least someone having to do with chaos! But the hard thing is nailing down the potential prospects because this doesn’t really scream any unit or another…
This bit was hard so we couldn’t really get it, but as another Chosen bit goes to show us, these models have a ton of diversity for being the same squad!
December 19th, 2021
Chaos Overwhelming: Advent Rumor Engine Day 18 & 19
Day 19 of the advent engine is here, and yup- it’s even more Chaos! Just like day 13, this just has a lot of folks thinking Warpsmith! The only real other possibility is seeing a new model like the Lord Discordant, but seeing how badly Warpsmiths need the love it’s the only real option for Day 19 in our minds.
This bit was another freebie, the warp smith tentacles are just so unique they can really belong to any other model.
December 21st, 2021
Fully Corrupted: Advent Rumor Engine Day 21
For day 21, we got a definite new chaos rumor engine! Although placing it might be harder because it can reasonably be anything from a terrain piece, to a new vehicle, to a character’s cape! However, that skull does look familiar…
This bit was hard to place as it could have been on anything really, but it’s once again part of this diverse Chosen kit.
December 22nd, 2021
A Gnarly Trophy Rack: Advent Rumor Engine Day 22
This could honestly be for a lot of characters because so many have trophy racks! It could easily be for a new Terminator Squad, but we’re not so sure they would rework the entire squad. We hope so and the new rack definitely looks a lot scarier!
One final Chosen engine for the road anyone? These are a great kit and getting all these unique bits will be sure to make it a fun painting challenge at the very least.
December 23rd, 2021
Axing the Imperium to Ashes: Advent Rumor Engine Day 23
This one is obviously Chaos but there are many axe wielders in the faction. At first glance an axe always makes you think of Kharn or Berserkers. However, the axe almost perfectly matches a current weapon from a mini that really needs an update!
While this one was the hardest Warpsmith bit to guess, it still clearly wasn’t hard enough as that axe is too iconic to everyone’s favorite Chaos Engineers.
Sixteen down and eight to go from our count- with four of those being text-based. We’ll keep our eyes peeled until then for more solved Advent Engine Previews.
There were a couple of others from the Weekly Rumor Engines as well that also were solved:
April 20th, 2021
Finally New Eldar: GW Rumor Engine
This engine bit is pretty straightforward, with some tech and a hand. Looking at the theme displayed there are three possibilities, Tau, Genestealer Cults, and Eldar. Tau gets thrown out because most Tau don’t have five digits, this hand looks like it has four fingers and a thumb. Genestealer tech usually isn’t this reformed and naturally more like guards simpler tech.
We’re not saying it’s Eldar but… (Eldar).
And boom! Looks like we were dead on with this one, but who could have guessed Rangers were coming all the way back in April!? We didn’t quite get that far…
November 23rd, 2021
A Gem For Thought: GW 40k Rumor Engine
Thanks to a unique gem, this bit is very easy to place. It is almost certainly either elvish, making it Eldar in 40k or Aelves in AoS, or possibly Hedonites of Slaanesh. That means it could easily be either 40k or AoS and even any of the various specialist games.
We leaned a little bit more into Eldar for this one as their rumors were in full swing, but as we know now, it was actually a brand new Idoneth model!
November 30th, 2021
Burning Brazier: New GW 40k Rumor Engine
At first glance, this bit is actually hard to place, because fire really isn’t one factions “thing” in AoS or 40k. There are quite a few factions who use it pretty extensively. Such as Salamanders, Sisters of Battle, Fyreslayers, even Skaven if the flames were green, and potentially specialist games like Necromunda just to name a few.
We took a leap of faith and guessed Skaven as they have so many outdated models, but it turns out the simple answer is sometimes the correct one! Fyreslayers love the attention too.
The newly announced Store Anniversary Minis also solved 4 old rumor engines!
Warhammer Community announced the new models along with a store finder and a way to see their anniversary. Let’s check out the minis you can score!
New Exclusive Inquisitor Erasmus Cartavolnus
The Ordo Malleus is dedicated to hunting and exterminating daemons wherever they appear, and Erasmus Cartavolnus has been doing it for over 300 years. Despite his advanced age, this zealous Inquisitor still strides the battlefield in search of daemonic quarry, and his knowledge of binding rituals is second to none.
This is honestly pretty cool with the huge flame exploding from the book and giant sword. While the pose itself isn’t super dynamic, all the extra pieces of flair make up for it. We’ll have to see if they come up with any rules for him, but probably not. Still, he would be a cool Inquisitor to add to your forces.
Looks like we may have known about him from two previous 2020 advent calendar teasers:
Inquisitor Engine Reporting For Duty: Advent Calendar Day 13
This is very clearly something from the Inquisition, perhaps even an Inquisitor! The real question at the end of it all is who/what is holding the holster? Is it a new nameless Inquisitor or an old one getting a revamp? It’s impossible to say for sure!
Seems like we mostly nailed the prediction over a year ago too, but who knew he would turn out to be Inquisitor Erasmus Cartavolnus…
There’s A Boot In My Shoot: Advent Calendar Day 8
There might be a boot in this shoot, but there are also boots all over Warhammer! Placing this rumor engine is nearly impossible. The only thing we can say for sure is that it probably isn’t for Orks! Their boots tend to be a bit more “used”. There appears to be a skull on the front, but it’s hard to make out for sure. It could both 40k and AoS and also could bealmostany faction.
GW Exclusive Gutrippa Boss Haggok
It takes a wily creature to command the respect of a Kruleboyz Gutrippa mob, and Haggok is always on the lookout for his latest would-be usurper to pre-emptively run through. With a (mostly) tame vulture keeping its beady eyes open for incoming threats, Haggok has time to relax a little and survey the battlefield, leaning casually on his skareshield. He fits in perfectly with your existing Gutrippa warbands, and as a unit leader, he has a more refined air than your average Kruleboy can muster.
It’s nice at least this year to see something other than Necrons or Space Marines get the minis! He’s not the most exciting model, but still pretty cool. If for nothing other than the vulture! We also saw Gutrippa Boss Haggok a long time ago as he was hidden in plain sight and in a rumor engine.
It looks like he may have slipped into this picture by ‘accident’. Then, with a rumor engine, we more or less expected this to be coming out at some point. And we finally will be able to grab Gutrippa Boss Haggok soon!
January 26th, 2021
That looks Like New Tyranids: Rumor Engine
Well, we’ve already taken a guess at this one. It just looks too much like a Tyranid tail for us to think much further. Just the tantalizing idea of new Tyranid minis seems to be scrambling our brains. While it could always be something else, it just looks too alien for many other factions. They also mention it could be man-made by more advanced humans.
Could they be unveiling a new line of beings behind the Hive-Mind? Probably not, but hey it’s a rumor engine so why not speculate?
With such a unique design, this one wasn’t too hard to place as Tyranids!
March 23rd, 2021
Rip & Tear: New GW Rumor Engine
This serrated edge could be to a spear, spike, dagger, and a few other things, but ultimately the craftsmanship and savage nature of it is what makes it stand out. This is most likely for a new Dark Eldar/Aelves release for either 40k or AoS respectively. This could technically be for Chaos in both games as well, but curved blades are much more common in the Dark Eldar/Aelves lineups.
We leaned a little bit too much into the Eldar theory, but at least we knew chaos was a possibility and boy are we happy it ended up being chaos…
September 28th, 2021
New GW Rumor Engine Goes Straight to Davy Jones Locker
Right away this bit is instantly recognizable as the bottom of a boat. Due to the nature of boats, it’s also much more likely to be terrain or a model in AoS instead of 40k. It then becomes a balancing act of whether Nagash is going to take on the seas, or if Idoneth Deepkin might receive a new model after only receiving a Warband and a bundle for quite a long time.
As it would turn out it really was the forces of Nagash, but pin-pointing which faction is nearly impossible when looking at a brand new design space. At least the new model looks amazing!
October 12th, 2021
New GW Rumor Engine: The Lone Lamppost
Initially, this bit might be hard to place correctly, however with the surge in more unique models with all of the warbands and factions in specialist games, this seems like a perfectly reasonable bit. As it is just a lamppost and doesn’t immediately say anything totally futuristic, it seems more likely to be AoS.
With that in mind, this could easily be a new Warband model for plenty of different factions or even a new terrain piece. Possible factions include Stormcast, Orruks, and Nighthaunt.
This one turned out to not only be Nighthaunt but also be the same model as the previous one!
January 4th, 2022
New Chaos Lashes Out: GW 40k Rumor Engine
GW is back with another “normal” Rumor Engine. They say it’s not Chaos, but to us, this looks very similar to the Helbrute Power Scourge.
While it may not be a new Helbrute, it definitely is chaos, and it’s a glorious model at that too!
January 25th, 2022
More Ad Mech Models New GW 40k Rumor Engine
The new rumor engine looks like a group of antennas, but it could be more like even on a piece of terrain. The design looks primarily Ad Mech in nature to us, but it could also easily be Imperial Guard or even Genestealer Cults for that matter…
As it turns out this isn’t Ad mech at all, but in fact a new terrain piece for Necromunda!
February 8th, 2022
New Imperial Wargear: GW 40k Rumor Engine
The new rumor engine looks like a pile of Imperial equipment, but it could be more like even on a piece of terrain or vehicle. The design looks primarily “good” in nature to us, but it could also easily be just some generic indiscriminate terrain piece for that matter…
Whatever it is it was clearly 3D printed as you can see the striations from being zoomed in on the miniature.
This didn’t end up being imperial supplies, but it is a piece of the new Necromunda terrain!
November 9th, 2021
Lurking in the Sewers: GW Rumor Engine
This bit could be a lot of things, but we do see a hand, some large piping, and what looks like a street-side sewer grate. This could be a faction that really needs it, like Skaven, who needs a ton of model updates, or maybe something brand new in the way of Necromunda.
This could easily go either 40k or AoS and still be right on theme for the era as there isn’t anything that screams either one.
The clear sewer theme made Skaven an easy guess!
January 11th, 2022
New Year New Bolts: New GW 40k Rumor Engine
While this could be a Kharadron Overlord model in AoS, the sci-fi nature of this metallic plate with hatches and bolts just screams grimdark 40k. With that in mind, we’ve seen Daemon Engines in rumors and we know Chaos’s time to shine is coming soon, which makes this seem like it could be for that. Of course, plain metal could belong to really any faction in 40k!
We’ve known for a while that this was a model from a comic, but now we actually saw the model!
January 18th, 2022
Imperial Wheel: New GW 40k Rumor Engine
The new rumor engine is just a wheel! However just because it’s clear, doesn’t make it any easier to place or guess. It does seem pretty basic/non-corrupt so we are leaning slightly more in favor of Imperium, but it could also be Genestealers, or even Orks too…
Just like the one above, we’ve known for a while that this was a model from a comic, but now we get to see the real model.
February 23rd, 2021
Hooves of Darkness: New GW Rumor Engine
We were close with this one, but we didn’t quite predict a new Centaur model for chaos! This model does look amazing though.
March 9th, 2021
Pincers At The Ready: Tyranids GW Rumor Engine
We were completely off for this bit, but who could have guessed that a centaur would have a pincer tail!? Oh, Chaos, you never disappoint!
March 30th, 2021
Net Neutrality: New GW Rumor Engine
The last bit for the centaur was another one we missed, but it does make sense to see it on this model now that we have the full picture.
September 14th, 2021
A New Lion Sword For Order: GW Rumor Engine
We guessed it was for an Order faction model, and while this is most certainly not Order, it is a great model. And if you’re going to read the book it makes this model even more exciting!
September 21st, 2021
Spooky Bits For a Spooky Season: GW Rumor Engine
We missed this guess for the rumor engines a bit, but a grave on a “Gravelords” model does seem like a no-brainer!
November 2nd, 2021
New Tyranids or Nurgle: GW Rumor Engines
This was another bit we missed the guess on, but flying bugs is something brand new to Sylvaneth, and we gotta say it looks right at home!
February 15th, 2022
Chaos Hydra Head: GW 40k Rumor Engine
As one of the weirder new models reveals, these possessed cultists look gnarly and disturbing. Just in case you thought chaos was all rainbows, these models remind us it’s everything but.
February 22nd, 2022
New Chaos or Tyranids Wings: GW 40k Rumor Engines
We might have gotten a little too excited seeing the demon wings bit, alas, it’s not a new large Daemon or anything, but these unique models are something to be looking forward to for sure!
Here’s the most up-to-date list of new Games Workshop bits from preview models that we should keep an eye out for. Click on the gallery above to see dozens of Rumor Engines with new models still left to be revealed!
