The Spaceballs LEGO kit has hit the necessary 10k votes on LEGO Ideas, meaning we could actually see this as an official release!
LEGO Ideas is an interesting system in place for community members to propose kit ideas and then the community gets to vote on it! If a given idea gets 10k votes, they move to review by the company and then have a chance of becoming an official kit! Right now, the Spaceballs kit has hit the 10k votes, meaning it’s one step closer to reality! Not sure LEGO will make this after review, but man, how sweet would that be. It would just make such a fun kit to build and who hasn’t wanted a LEGO Barf?
Let’s check out the proposed kit and what could be a reality.
Spaceballs LEGO Kit Hits 10k Votes on LEGO Ideas!
It’s almost like people went over LEGO’s helmet to give this kit some life. But let’s hope LEGO thinks they went more to the side and will actually bring this great set to market.
The project originally started back in August 2020, and for a LEGO Ideas kit, this actually got to the 10k votes in a decent amount of time.
Let’s hear a little from them about the potential project:
The model includes many features including some of the obvious ones: Spaceballs the breakfast cereal, a can of Perri Air, Princess Vespa’s hairdryer, Pizza the Hutt on the screen, Dark Helmets action figures, and Yogurts Flamethrower! As well as this, there is the ‘W’ logo on the side of the ship to represent the Winnebago, and the ‘E-5’ logo on the wings to represent the Eagle 5.
Spaceballs is one of those classic 80’s films that never fail to make me laugh, and I think that the Eagle 5 is a perfect way of capturing the comedy. The Eagle 5 is captained by Lone Starr and his and sidekick Barf who are looking to pay off their debt to Pizza the Hutt, however the only way they can do this is to rescue Princess Vespa before Dark Helmet and his men capture her!
Now that we’ve already done the voting, the only thing left to do is hope LEGO deems it worth it to make it into a set!
