Rotigus may not be the most loved of Nurgle, but he still goes about his work with a joy that’s infectious. Infectious in all the good ways.
Few beings love their work quite as much as Rotigus! He wants nothing more than to spread Papa’s love across the galaxy and show people the true meaning of life, pox in all its forms. Get out your favorite Christmas album and let’s learn about some Rotigus lore and some of his best work!
Gracing Worlds with His Work
While his works are immense and too innumerable to count, he generally only travels to worlds that ask for his blessing. Well, Nurgle‘s blessing, but that’s not really important. First, the world of Ulden was standing on the brink of ruin and the puny Emperor could do little to save them, so they started praying to whoever would listen. Rotigus was listening! Soon their cattle were once again birthing calves and they thanked whatever gods had saved them. Such is the fickle people of the Imperium. Only once the cattle could not stop giving birth after birth to mutated calves did they realize the mistake, it was too late. They had no choice but to turn to Nurgle for salvation.
Even the Tau have fallen to his gifts. The Earth caste workers were so desperate for rain on one of their planets, they listened to the more primal tribesmen of the planet. You see, the tribesmen had not been fully convinced of the Greater Good and still prayed to Pagan Gods. They listened to the population’s ideas and started to pray with them. In days rainfall resumed in plentiful amounts. But the rains never stopped, and soon the world became a swamp too wet and teeming with plague to do anything with.
Helping the Death Guard
The Death Guard had already spent seven years trying to take the hive world of Nebbus. They just couldn’t break the world and they realized they needed to call in the big guy Rotigus himself! Mortarion had his sorcerers open a rift and like the generous Daemon he is, Rotigus arrived. The air changed when he arrived and the siege was all but over.
He blessed the legions with his generosity and it was with this new-found strength that they were able to cut the cities defenders to pieces. Or maybe it was the hordes of Daemons that he brought with him… Either way, it was his arrival that signaled a victory for the Death Guard.
That does it for this quick overview of some of his greatest gifts. But fear not, he’s always coming back with new ways to spread Papa’s gifts!
