A slick Ultramarines vs Necrons leak had 40k fans convinced GW teased the lead into 11th edition, but here’s everything revealed by Games Workshop so far!

It’s happening again. The Ultramarines, those poster boys of the Imperium, are confirmed to gearing up for another spotlight moment, and this time, the Necrons are crashing their party. A leak from The Grand Alliance stirred up the 40k scene, teasing something called the “500 Worlds Battalion: Necrons.”

Now, before you reach for your purity seals, we know it’s all true now. Even better, the source, known as “Bool,” has a track record of calling it right with AOS releases.

Here’s what has been confirmed about the new 40k 500 Worlds campaign, Captain Titus’s crusade, and the latest Necron face-off.

The Ultramarines Get More Stuff?

If you play anything other than blue, you’re probably sighing. Yes, it looks like more Ultramarine kits are on the way. According to Bool, there were “numerous long-delayed Ultramarine-exclusive kits” that would finally see daylight.

Rumors said to look for new Tyrannic War Veterans, reboxed heroes, or maybe even a custom Dreadnought variant. Considering the current edition focuses heavily on the Tyranid invasion of Segmentum Pacificus, revisiting the Tyrannic War theme would fit like a power fist to the jaw.

But no one had money on the return of Captain Titus!

What’s Up with “500 Worlds Battalion: Necrons”?

The 500 Worlds: Titus Campaign Set

Games Workshop’s “500 Worlds: Titus” box turns this story into a full campaign. Inside are four books loaded with lore, campaigns, boarding missions, and detachment rules for both Marines and Necrons.

Captain Titus Returns

Captain Titus is back and trading his lieutenant bars for something bigger: Master of the Watch. His new job? Guarding Macragge and the 500 Worlds while Guilliman’s off swinging swords across the stars. He’s Ultramar’s last hope and its most reliable brawler.

His new squad, the Wardens of Ultramar, brings together Ultramar’s heavy hitters and some new blood. Ancient Gadriel hoists the Second Company banner like it’s personal, and Veteran Sergeant Metaurus is the grizzled veteran who’s seen it all.

Necron Trouble in the 500 Worlds

Nekrosor Ammentar

Of course, peace never sticks. Titus’ return gets interrupted by a Necron warlord named Nekrosor Ammentar, who’s leading corrupted Destroyers and scaring even other Necrons. His target? Ultramar itself.

The Nightbringer Rises

Ammentar’s obsession with the Nightbringer has twisted his army beyond repair. Now there’s a new 500 Worlds Necron Battalion box to match his doomsday energy and the new C’tan Nightbringer model that looks ready to vaporize anything blue.

500 Worlds, A Second Clash of Dynasties and Discipline

psychic awakening pariahA Necron incursion into Ultramar’s territory is a big narrative shake-up. We’ve had the Tyranids, Chaos, and Space Marines chew their share of screen time. Bringing the Necrons into direct conflict with the Imperium’s shining sons gives Games Workshop plenty of room to flex, much like they did in 9th Edition.

Now it looks like we’re getting new rules for planetary defense, Ultramar-specific detachments, and Necron dynasties with fresh lore expansions.

Why 500 Worlds Could Point to 11th Edition

The 500 Worlds Campaign stands to serve as the transition event leading straight into 11th edition, just like Arks of Omen wrapped up 9th.

Rumors also point to Huron Blackheart, Trazyn the Infinite being part of the 500 worlds series or lead up to 11th edition.

It’s possible that this could be a multi-book series like the Arks of Omen that returned Primarch Lion El Johnson to Warhammer 40k.

Final Thoughts on the New 40k 500 Worlds, Necrons, and Titus

Warhammer 40k’s storytelling machine is revving up again, and we’re here for it.

The idea of Ultramarines defending their 500 Worlds from a Necron resurgence feels right: classic, high-stakes, and ripe for model releases. And it means fresh kits, new campaign rules, and maybe a glimpse into what 11th edition has in store, we’re all for it.

The stars, and maybe the C’tan, are aligning and might have something even bigger to show us in the new year.
