This poor model got a lot of flak for his looks online, and then Games Workshop silently resculpted the Uriel Ventris miniature without much fanfare…
GW Quitely Resculpted The Uriel Ventris Miniature Right Under Our Noses…
Inquisitor Coatez’s miniature wasn’t the first time a new Games Workshop model was panned online after it was previewed. In 2021, hobbyists were not very happy with the sculpt on the face of Uriel Ventris, and to be honest, we’ve seen better from Games Workshop. Plus when you consider it was a limited edition-exclusive miniature for the Black Library Celebration that year, it was nice to see them go back and give this venerable hero of the Ultramarines a re-do.
There haven’t been many instances where we’ve actually seen a sculpt change after a preview. But we do know GW uses 3d printing for their preview models due to speed, so maybe they decided to change it for all the actual kits and finally got a new one in to paint up.

Resculpted Uriel Ventris Miniature Unboxing and Review
In our review, we show you everything, including the sprues, bits, and, of course, its size. That way, you can decide if this is worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.
The New Look

It’s a little curious that Games Workshop didn’t even say anything about the new resculpt and just released a whole new miniature complete with updated images on the box art. We assume the reason is because of all the negative feedback received on social media—there was a lot of it!
Perhaps this could set a precedent for the future, where if enough people roast a mini and GW doesn’t think people will buy it, they’ll change the sculpt. It looks like voting with your hobby dollars and hobby opinions matter now.
