How to Play World Eaters in 10th Edition Rules Guide

Armies-on-Parade-&-Lore-40k-AoS-world-eaters-angron-chaos wal horNew 10th Edition 40k World Eaters are here – from Stratagems, Datasheets, and army rules; here is our review guide on how to play them.

In 10th Edition Warhammer 40k, each army has a new style of play, rules, and plenty of changes. If you’re wondering how to play World Eaters, what their new rules are, or if you should start collecting them, this review guide will give you plenty of info to mull over.

With their rules focusing on surging your units into combat, the new codex lets you spill all the blood for Khorne! Then, every turn, you will be able to buff up your entire army and even bring Angron back from the dead! The new World Eaters seem to be worth considering if you’re looking for a new army in Warhammer 40k.

How to Play World Eaters in 10th Edition 40k: Rules Guide

The new 10th Edition 40k rules come from Warhammer Community.

New World Eaters 40k Rules

Khorne, like all of the Chaos Gods, can be fickle – but the World Eaters enjoy his favour more often than most, and are infamous for their rugged ability to ride the tides of war. The fluctuating attention of the Legion’s patron is represented by the Blessings of Khorne army rule, which has you roll a pool of dice each battle round in order to channel the Blood God’s power.

We’re guessing this takes the place of Blood Tithe, as Angron’s rules seem to indicate. We’re not exactly sure why they changed it over to this so fast, as World Eaters players had Blood Tithe for less than a year.

Either way, when you roll for the Blessings of Khorne each turn, any doubles will let you use different abilities.

New World Eaters 40k Rules 2

Of course it’s eight dice. So what exactly do you do with these rolls? If you guessed “spend them to upgrade your army with potent effects chosen from a list of six powerful abilities”, you’re right on the money. A furious warcry to accompany your choice is recommended, but not mandatory.

Each boon lasts only until the end of that battle round, but they affect all of the units in your army – daemonic allies not included, as they lack the ability. The range of options means you can pick up exactly what the Blood God ordered when there’s butchery to be done. You even get to pick two of them, so a particularly lucky roll can supercharge your turn with speed, durability, or raw power as needed.

Some of these are super strong, and with the randomness of having to roll doubles, hopefully, you can get the blessings you want!

New 10th Edition Warhammer 40k World Eaters Datasheets

New World Eaters 40k Rules 3

Their Objective Control characteristic of 2 and horrifying melee capabilities make Berzerkers well-suited to brawling over objectives – and once they’re in range, an Icon of Khorne will make your Blessings of Khorne rolls more reliable.

Blood Surge is pretty awesome, as it can put them into combat with enemies. Then, they have four attacks at Strength 5 and -1AP.  Plus if you have an Icon of Khorne, you can re-roll your blessing dice.

Overall, it’s pretty interesting.

New World Eaters 40k Rules 4

Each sweep of Samni’arius and Spinegrinder can bisect whole squads of Space Marines. Reborn in Blood returns as an ability that directly interacts with your Blessings of Khorne, so plant a few Icons of Khorne atop blood-soaked objectives to make it even more likely that a slain Daemon Primarch will come roaring back onto the field.

Canny Khornates will also notice that his Wrathful Presence now triggers in the Charge phase, allowing you to choose exactly the right Aura for the Fight phase to come. Crucially you can use these in the same turn that he Deep Strikes, immediately bolstering your nearby warriors upon his bloody manifestation.

Angron rules

Let’s compare the datasheets:

  • Way fewer attacks; the sweep attack has less Strength. The Strike attack has more Strength and the possibility for more damage.
  • Can still return the battle.
  • Auras are somewhat different.
  • Way more toughness, fewer wounds.
  • No Lord of the Arena.
  • Less move, but it doesn’t degrade with wounds.

Hmm, there are some pretty giant changes to his profile, and he no longer will have 36 attacks…

New Weapons

New World Eaters 40k Rules 5

Few weapons in the World Eaters armoury can be described as much more than ‘a big, sharp lump of metal’, but they don’t entirely neglect the sheer damage a good old-fashioned cannon can do. The mighty Lord of Skulls can mount several such weapons in its giant tracked body – and the daemongore cannon is getting a healthy Strength and Damage upgrade to deal with everything from tough-as-nails Terminators to super-heavy battle tanks.

While it’s only 18″ in range, you can dish out a huge amount of damage if you get lucky on your attack dice roll.

New World Eaters 40k Rules 6

Being at the forefront of every bloody assault is a dangerous business, and despite their strength and resilience, the World Eaters often find themselves cut down under the furious guns of their foes. Luckily, Khorne doesn’t particularly care from whence each Blood Offering flows, and is entirely happy to corrupt a battlefield consecrated by the deaths of his own warriors.

This is an excellent way to control objectives when your opponent shoots you off and keeps those points rolling in.

Dataslate Changes

They got hit fairly hard by the Dataslate changes but have bounced back some. While they didn’t destroy the army, it did have a pretty big effect on the win rate.

Is It Still Worth Playing World Eaters?

If you want to charge forward and decimate your opponents, then yes, it’s worth playing World Eaters! They are doing okay in terms of win rate, have a ton of wild miniatures, and are super fun to hobby on.

While they might not be the best army in terms of win rate, they are super fun and worth playing.

10th edition year 1 roadmap

Updates, in general, for any game are just good business. That being said, it also seems like in 2023-2024, GW will have its hands full trying actually to get out all these codexes.

However, World Eaters aren’t even on the list, meaning you will have to use the index for a while, which gives you plenty of time to learn the faction before the codex drops.

The new World Eaters army rules in 10th Edition Warhammer 40k provide exciting changes to the gameplay, rules, and style of the army. World Eaters can dominate the battlefield with tons of their heavy melee units that surge forward at the slightest command. The army’s squads, vehicles, and Stratagems provide players with a lot of options to defeat their enemies and have some really fun games. Overall, the new World Eaters army is a force to be reckoned with in Warhammer 40k.
