Angron was one of the twenty Primarchs, genetically engineered demigod-like beings created by the Emperor of Mankind. However, unlike his brothers, Angron’s early life was marred by tragedy. He was enslaved and subjected to brutal gladiatorial combat on his homeworld of Nuceria. This experience forged a deep-rooted hatred within him, shaping his future as a merciless and bloodthirsty warrior.

How Did Angron Become a Daemon?

During the Horus Heresy, a galaxy-wide civil war, Angron, and the World Eaters Legion aligned themselves with the traitor Warmaster Horus. Angron’s thirst for vengeance against the Imperium fueled his loyalty to Horus. However, as the Heresy unfolded, Angron’s violent nature and reliance on the Butcher’s Nails led to his ultimate transformation into a Daemon Prince, a twisted being bound to the powers of Chaos.

During his time on Nuceria, Angron was implanted with cybernetic cranial implants known as the Butcher’s Nails. These devices heightened his aggression and pain tolerance while also inducing constant suffering. The Butcher’s Nails became a defining aspect of Angron’s character, driving his insatiable thirst for combat and turning him into a berserker warrior.

Angron eventually joined his legion, the World Eaters, a force known for their savagery and love of close-quarters combat. The World Eaters’ combat doctrine revolved around frenzied assaults and the indiscriminate slaughter of their enemies. Angron’s influence and the Butcher’s Nails further intensified this brutal approach, transforming the World Eaters into an unstoppable force on the battlefield.
