Forge Worlds are the worlds of the Adeptus Mechanicus – worlds totally devoted to industry and to the Cult Mechanicus’s own occult worship.

A forge world is directly controlled by the Adeptus Mechanicus. All are completely dedicated to the manufacture of the various machines of the Imperium, the pursuit and preservation of humanity’s ancient scientific knowledge and the worship of the Machine God. Ancient pacts between the Adeptus Mechanicus and other worlds and institutions of the Imperium oblige the various Forge Worlds to supply other worlds and the various military arms of the Imperium, such as the Imperial Guard. Based on most forge worlds are the Titan Legions; these are supported by legions of Skitarii, the Mechanicus’s cybernetically-enhanced soldiers, who also serve as the forge worlds’ military forces. Equipment produced by forge worlds are constructed according to the individual forge world’s own design-standards or “patterns”.

Mechanicus Dunecrawler

Metalica (also Metalicus) is a Forge World situated close to the Ork empire of Charadon. It is home to the Legio Metalica. It produces the Metalica-pattern Tarantula. The planet is formed almost entirely of metal, and no flora or fauna live on the world. Even the atmosphere is inimical of life. It has not always been this way, but rather a concentrated effort by its Tech-Priests to transform the planet into the example of the Cult Mechanicus ideal. Metalica has provided much support to Armageddon, making up the forefront of the Mechanicus effort in the First, Second and Third wars for the planet. In 923.M39, the Elucidan Schism devastated the planet and has become a center of Electro-Priests ever since.

Metalica Skitarii

The Elucidan Schism was a war in the Adeptus Mechanicus between the two principle Electro-Priest factions: the Fulgurites and the Corpuscarii. The war began in 923.M39 when hard-line Fulgurites shot down a Corpuscarii congregation on a pilgrimage to Mars, claiming their wasteful ways would destroy the balance of the priesthood upon the Red Planet. The resultant civil war raged for several hundred years, and was particularly vicious on Metalica. It only ended when the threat of Angron and his invasion of Armageddon caused the two factions to unite once more. Later during the Thirteenth Black Crusade, Metalica deployed substantial Skitarii and Legio Metalica Titans in the Diamor Campaign. Shortly after the Plague Wars of M42 Metalica was threatened by Ork invasion. However Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar was able to slow the horde through rapid strike tactics.

Ryza Skitarii

Ryza is a Forge World of the Imperium. It is a formidable world, known for its plasma weapons and vehicles mounted with them, such as the feared Leman Russ Executioner (which is no longer produced by any other Forge World) and the Stormblade Super Heavy Tank (which was first developed on Ryza). The Forge World is home to the Collegia TitanicaLegio Crucius (Warmongers). The world had been attacked by not one but two of the Ork Waaagh! – Waaagh! Grax and Waaagh! Rarguts. During the Thirteenth Black Crusade though, Waaagh! Grax was finally defeated, but disaster struck the Forge World, in the aftermath of the Great Rift’s creation and Ryza soon found itself invaded by hordes of Daemons. Now, only the presence of the numerous Astra Militarum Regiments that were sent to originally deal with the Ork Waaaghs!, have prevented the Forge World from falling to the forces of Chaos.

Stygies Skitarii

Stygies VIII is a large Forge World moon orbiting a massive ringed gas giant in the binary star system of Vulcanis. It is home to the best munitions artisans and one of the few worlds which produces Leman Russ Vanquishers. It was once home to the Legio Vulcanum I and II, but they turned traitor and now houses the Legio Honorum. Of all Forge Worlds, Stygies VIII produce the best gun barrels, recoil dampners and finest quality propellant chemicals. Stygies almost fell to rebel forces during the Horus Heresy – it was only saved by the intervention of Eldar forces. This event led to Stygies becoming the home of a secret sect known as the Xenarites, who are dedicated to the study of alien technology. Stygies VIII has an infamous and suspicious reputation in the Imperium due to its connections to xenos technology. However the High Lords of Terra rule the world too vital to interfere with it too much. Nonetheless a secret war is unfolding on Stygies VIII between the Deathwatch and radical Tech-Priests. Some of these radicals have fled to Vulcanis III where they have breached a Webway portal seeking the Black Library itself and coming into conflict with Harlequins. Stygies VIII is known to be the originator of one of the most common patterns of Manticore and pattern of the Leman Russ Vanquisher. They also produce Destroyers, Thunderer, Hydra Flak Tank.
