Retailers have already confirmed the next wave of releases from GW containing all the 9th Edition goodies, Chapter Approved, and even new paints. Here’s an early look at what’s coming down the pike so you can decide ahead of time what you want to spend your hobby $$$ on.

Indomitus Box Set $199

Indomitus boxIndomitus is a phenomenal set. The culmination of some of the best work our miniatures, rules, lore and art teams have ever made, this box takes everything that makes Warhammer 40,000 incredible and puts it in one place. Two huge collections of amazing, brand-new models are packaged with the full Core Book – everything a 40K hobbyist needs to hit the ground running in the new edition.

We’ve got a pretty good guess on how much value the 9th Edition 40k Idomintus Box Set has inside.

9th Edition’s Core Book $65

The Core Book 9thThe Core Book is your complete guide to the new edition, containing reams and reams of incredible lore and art that bring the Era Indomitus to life. Plus, it contains the rules – and we mean a LOT of rules. As well as the basic tenets required to play a game, you’ll find expansion content for open, matched and narrative play, along with tips and army showcases to help you get started.

This is going to be your ticket to learning the new phases of 9th Edition. It might be a steep investment, but with a rules overhaul on a brand new edition, this may not be a bad thing to pick up.

Black library’s Indomitus (HB) $27

indomitus novelThis sees the Ultramarines attached to the supposedly cursed Crusade Fleet Quintus encounter the Necrons in the Pariah Nexus. Faced with a choice between saving billions of souls and bringing word of xenos horrors to Primarch Guilliman, they must make a difficult decision.

Open War Cards $18

Open War Cards 9thOpen War Cards are the secret weapon for gamers who are hunting for awesome, fresh missions that’ll both challenge and delight. Draw up your cards, randomise your missions and ensure no game is ever the same with countless possible combinations!

If you’re tired of playing the only mission you know off the top of your head or want to throw some spice into the routine ITC missions, the updated Open War pack is  an option.

Chapter Approved $40

We’ve re-engineered Chapter Approved this year to be purely about matched play, giving you a host of new content for Grand Tournaments, as well as new missions Incursion and Strike Force engagements. Additionally, Chapter Approved comes with the 2020 Munitorum Field Manual, a massive update that brings every army’s points into line with the new edition of the game.

Right alongside 9th Edition is Chapter Approved which will come in two bindings. This may be an auto-include on your next tournament day.

Crusade Journal $35

Crusade JournalThe Crusade Journal is designed to be the ideal companion to your journey through narrative play in the 41st Millennium. As you play Crusade games, your forces will grow, change and develop, and this journal will let you track them, making for both an invaluable reference book, and a permanent record of your games.

Crusade is a new game mode in the 9th edition and this will be a way for you to keep tabs on all the outcomes of your games. From wounds to field promotions, it’ll be laid out in one easy-to-read book.

Battlezone: Manufactorum – Battlefield $50

Battlezone Manufactorum BattlefieldGet your table game-ready in minutes with these durable card battlefield tiles! Simply unfold and combine, and you’ve got an appropriately war-torn place to fight, particularly when combined with some scenery. This set is perfect for playing Combat Patrol or Incursion games, but grab two of them, and you’ll have a large enough play area for a 2000 point Strike Force game!

With updated table sizes, these mats will help you get acclimated. The overall table size is just a few inches smaller than the 4X6 length and it’s not even mandatory to use the adjusted sizes. With that said, this is a great way to pick up a new gaming board easily.

40k Battlezone Manufactorum Objectives $40

40k objectivesFor objectives, these are probably the most colorful and unique counters we’ve seen GW produce. From a tracked pulpit to some kind of Necron spawner, these are also going to make some outstanding conversion spice.
