Is it Worth It?

Of the newer CPs we’ve seen, this is actually on the higher end of value (well over 50%). Plus, you get a pretty interesting and elite force. If you grab the army box as well, you actually grab a really solid starting force and almost have a full army!

Plus, while some of the newer 10th Edition Combat Patrols have been underwhelming (compared to 9th edition boxes), this one has more value than the previous few we’ve seen.

How Many Points Is This?

So, you’re wondering how many points the Death Guard Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 440 points (at least in our rough estimates; it could change once the codex comes out). But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.

Poxwrought Vector Battleforce box

Well, you have a good mix of troops with this box, but it doesn’t force you into any one style of play. However, if you can manage to grab the army box as well, you will really have a great start and almost a full army.

But either way, you’ll need some tanks to blast the enemy from afar, and the Death Guard have so many cool wild units, you might as well grab them too!

So, while this box is a great starting point, it is only 450ish points, meaning you’ll still have the vast majority of your army to collectSo, don’t forget the rule of cool, and if you can find the Poxwrought Vector Battleforce, that would be worth it as well!

The meta will always change, but cool models will always be cool.

OOP 2021 Version:

dg combat patrol

The Out of Print (OOP) 2021 Death Guard Combat Patrol box was Nurgle’s little gift to new players and Poxwalker fanatics alike. Released on January 16th, 2021, this set was packed to the brim with 39 models.

Which sounds great… until you realize 30 of them are the same shambling meatbags. If you’re the kind of player who wakes up thinking “I wish I had three full squads of plague-ridden cannon fodder,” then this was your moment to shine.

The box included Typhus (your funky hive-boss), a Biologus Putrifier, and a modest 7 Plague Marines—decent value if you’re starting from scratch, but a bit of a facepalm if you already owned Typhus and a truckload of zombies.

At a $168 price tag and an MSRP value of $251, it gave you about $83 in savings—assuming you actually needed that many Poxwalkers. If not, well… hope you like painting boils.

Models Unit Name Value
30 Poxwalkers $111 ($37 for a box of ten this week)
7 Plague Marines $60
1 Typhus  $45
1 Biologus Putrifier $35
 Death Guard Combat Patrol
  Total MSRP: $251
  Savings Versus Box Price: $83

Final Thoughts on the Death Guard Combat Patrol

dg Lord of Virulence

From plague-ridden heavy hitters to a transport that’s basically a rolling tank full of doom, this box doesn’t mess around. It’s got value, it’s got attitude, and it’s got enough Nurgle stink to keep your opponents six feet away. Social distancing, Warhammer-style.

We’ve crunched the numbers, compared the boxes, and talked our way through the savings so you don’t have to.

Bottom line? If you’re eyeing a Death Guard army, this is one heck of a power-up.

Sorry for the confusion we deal in retail MSRP only. Not secondary market prices that fluxatued wildly based on games workshop production, and whatever is hot in the meta.
