Check out this excellent homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend that shows that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Grimdark 18: Frank Kummel – Adeptus Mechanicus 3rd Place
Frank’s Ad Mech was on the cusp of a win, being led by three Dominus for feel no pains and enemy vehicle hate, a single Manipulus for a single use invulnerable and lethal hits, while a Technoarcheologist offers some minor deep strike hate, and an Objective Secured buff.
Battleline brings in two units of Vanguard for standard cheap bodies, while transports see three Duneriders for excellent mobility.
Other datasheets start with two units of Electro Priests, which pair up with Dominus very well and act as dedicated melee units; a Ballistarii brings a mobile model, and two Breachers are essentially armored ranged units with great weapons and durability. There are also two units of Skystalkers for some extra cheap mobility options.
The list ends with four Dragoons for iconic mobile models with a mix of weapons.
