Warhammer Fest 2023 Preview Online
Three days of previews for eight games headed into summer. Plus, this time, we have at least an idea of what many of these will be, thanks to so many recent reveals.
Trust us you will absolutely not want to miss this one – it’s going to be a real showstopper.
The reveal stream will be hosted live on Twitch and Warhammer Community, and you’ll be able to watch it later if you’re still sensibly tucked up in bed or busy working when the show goes live.
Plus Games Workshop has a new selfie attraction for attendees in the form of an 11-foot-tall life-sized Terminator model!
One of the first things you’ll see when you walk into Manchester Central is this giant 11-foot-tall life-sized Terminator. Get your photos of him!
So you’ll probably see plenty of pictures with this big boy in the background over the weekend!
New Horus Heresy Plastic Knight Titans, Epic Warhammer & 2023 Roadmap Preview
First up, we got what appears to be an apparent Warhammer Epic Scale preview from WHC.
There’s not much to go off of, but with the stream chat exploding and some obvious hints, this is almost 100% a teaser for the return of Epic Scale games that were rumored here.
You can check out the short teaser below!
New Plastic Lancer Cerastus Knight Titan Revealed!
WHC posted a breakdown for the new plastic knight, so let’s dive in.
Cerastus-class Knights are noble and warlike steeds, built for speed and aggression. Ridden by the most impetuous of a Knight House’s Noble scions, they’re armed with deadly close-range weaponry suited for their role of routing the flanks of enemy armies.
This updated plastic mini looks great, and the pilot chamber is a nice touch if you want to display it.
A version of this impressive Lancer has been available as a Forge World resin kit for nearly 10 years – but it will soon be available as an all-new plastic miniature.
As one of the most popular Forge World models, this new plastic version will surely be popular for both Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy hobbyists!
Check out the full reveal trailer below as we hope to see more of the Knights get the plastic treatment soon!
Knight Acheron & Castigator Transform Into Multi-Part Plastic Kits
Cerastus Knights Acheron & Castigator Plastic Kits
Here is the latest on the Knight Achereon and Castigator multi-part plastic kits for Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy from Warhammer Community.
Along with the Knight Lancer, all three Cersastus Knights jump to plastic from their previous resin miniatures available from Forge World.
By contrast, the Knight Acheron is a fearsome terror weapon, a grim beast intended for missions of extermination. Its bloodthirsty machine spirit roars to life as it immolates foes and fortifications with sheets of super-hot flame from its Acheron flamestorm cannon. Enemy engines seeking to defend their comrades are mangled with blows from the Acheron’s reaper chainfist, which packs an in-built twin-linked heavy bolter.
Intended as a fast close-quarters knight, this wants to demolish chaff in a blink and slice through any armor that ends up too close!
Rather than racing out to seek glory against titanic foes, the Knight Castigator prefers to reap massed enemies that may threaten its Knightly brethren through sheer weight of numbers. Its twin-linked Castigator bolt cannon pulverises infantry formations with torrents of mass-reactive ammunition, and its crackling tempest warblade can carve up light vehicles with a single elegant sweep – even as its pilot remains calm and focused, merged with the Castigator’s stoic machine spirit.
On the flip side, the Castigator mows down infantry with its bolt cannons! As fast as the Acheron, it trades a volume of damage for more damaging rounds to take out infantry.
Both the Castigator and Acheron feature a large ammo feed – or fuel tube – that trails from their primary ranged weapon to the supply on their back. This component has been designed to be fully articulated when built, meaning you can pose your Cerastus-class Knights without worrying about matching up two fixed connection points.
Look for these to arrive after the Knight Lancer model for less than the cost of their Forge World counterparts!
New Siege of Cthonia Characters Revealed
WHC also previewed the two new Siege of Cthonia characters for Horus Heresy as well.
Evander Garrius is experienced even by Space Marine standards – a veteran of the Unification Wars, and an uncompromising butcher of his Legion’s foes. His casual brutality kept the venerable Captain far from his Primarch’s favour, and though he harboured a burning desire to sit within Rogal Dorn’s inner circle, Garrius remained sequestered on garrison duties for much of the Great Crusade.
When the order came to conquer Cthonia for the Loyalist cause, Garrius swore he would take the world and be moved by no less than the hand of Dorn himself. His aggression is rare for an Imperial Fist, and coupled with his Legion’s famous skill at fortification, he presents a dire foe for the would-be liberators to overcome.
A uniquely brutal Imperial First character might be something fans rally behind, but one thing is for sure; that model is fantastic!
Cadre-captain Vheren Ashurhaddon is master of the True Sons, and overall commander of the Sons of Horus invasion fleet. It was he who beseeched Warmaster Horus to recapture their homeworld, and he has assembled a mighty force of Space Marines, Titans, and Dark Mechanicum Taghmata.
Known as the First Reaver, Vheren is as vicious a fighter as was ever produced by Cthonia’s brutal underworld. He has cultivated the True Sons into exemplars of martial discipline and men of honour – even as the Traitor hordes slipped into wanton violence and butchery – and sought to earn the respect of those under his command.
His brutality comes to life, as seen in his spiked armor and hooked knife! Something that’s become a mainstay in the traitor legions and their future as Chaos Space Marines in 40k.
The final portion of Horus Heresy news from WHC is a little further into the future…
But one thing is missing – the mechanical whirr of a chainsword. That all changes later this year, when the plastic Space Marine Assault Squad soars in. They’re still a ways off, but Warhammer Community’s resident Vanus Infocyte managed to infiltrate the Design Studio’s mainframe and escape with these stunning renders.
Renders are an early point in model manufacturing, so these models might still be a bit far off into the future… Still, though, new plastic Assault Marines in plastic is exciting!
Speaking of the future, we got a roadmap and we can see that the Assault Squad is near the end of this year! Plus the Plastic Lancer is right around the corner in Summer.
That’s not all that’s coming soon for the Legiones Astartes – here’s another glimpse from the battlefields of the 31st Millennium…
This image was also teased with a Deredeo Dread in the back; that might just be the Autumn Dreadnought release hopefully in plastic!
In the stream, we got a hint at what the Mystery Faction in Winter might be… Our first guesses were some form of Guard thanks to the emphasis on “all of mankind” and the distinction of non-Space Marines, but there are plenty of possibilities!
A dedicated Daemon book might even come since they already have a few Horus Heresy-era models.
Lots more previews and teasers are on the way as we tread towards summer and tons of releases! Check out the latest Warhammer 40k rumors for the rest of the 9th and even 10th Edition, new releases, and more!
