Is the Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol Worth It?
Unfortunately, this has one of the smaller values we’ve seen in a while. However, it does come with some pretty useful units inside, and most lists run in 10th edition run at least one of everything in the box. If you need all the models included, this is totally worth it!
But, if there is a single unit you don’t need, it really doesn’t have value, as buying them separately would actually be cheaper if you didn’t need any of the $60 kits. Overall, you get a squad of Rangers for free, so if you need everything inside or want to start up an army, this is a decent pickup.
How Many Points Is This?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 300 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to find lost tech, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Tech-Priest Manipulus
The top dogs of the Adeptus Mechanicus are the Tech-Priests—robed fanatics who swap out their flesh for bionic upgrades as time goes on. These tech wizards flaunt a dizzying array of titles and dive deep into mysterious knowledge and obscure lore, all with a religious zeal. Inside the bulbous augmentation of a Tech-Priest Manipulus is a galvanic cell, letting them unleash a potent charge of divine Motive Force—the spark of all life.
Always on the hunt for new power sources, they eagerly drain them dry with their mechadendrites.
Skitarii Rangers
Tapping into the power of forge worlds with their unique weaponry, the Skitarii Rangers are relentless hunter-killers. For these guys, a fight isn’t finished until the enemy is completely obliterated—even if it means chasing them across galaxies and through decades.
Serberys Raiders
Getting promoted from the Skitarii maniples to the Serberys corps is a big deal. These guys ride fast, four-legged constructs with razor-sharp claws that let them navigate the roughest terrain. The riders are mag-locked in gyro-stabilized positions, making them super steady. As long-range scouts and outriders, Serberys Raiders are pros at flanking enemy forces and taking out vulnerable targets.
Their advanced ocular arrays, implanted directly into their skulls and linked to their mounts, ensure top-notch accuracy, aided by finely tuned olfactory sensors and an array of other sensitive gadgets.
Pteraxii Skystalkers
Among the many specialized cyborg warriors of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Pteraxii are all about lightning-fast reflexes and agility. Their instinctive reactions are enhanced by stripping away any unnecessary cognitive functions. Equipped with extra limb stumps on their backs—called scapuli superior—they’re connected to flight packs with thrusters and reactive surfaces.
These flight packs become an integral part of the Pteraxii, who take on various roles. Skystalkers, for instance, find the perfect vantage points to pick off their targets with precision.
New Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for tech reclamation, the Purge Corps Deltic-9 Spearhead comes loaded with rules to help you purge across the battlefield. The Adeptus Mechanicus may be all about shooting, but they’re still Ad Mech at heart, rocking the same Doctrina Imperatives army rule as before.
What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their melee game even more. You can get all the new Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol rules right here.
New Enhancement
Tapping into the sacred energy of the Motive Force, the Tech-Priest supercharges their electropositors, making them hum with dangerous power. With this boost, they crank up their squad’s weapons, giving them the range and punch to hunt down the Machine God’s enemies no matter where they try to hide.
Effect? You get an extra 6″ of range on all ranged weapons in the Tech-Priest’s unit, and those weapons also come with the [IGNORES COVER] ability.
Stratagem
According to the Tech-Priests, even the most basic mechanical upgrades are toughened by the faith of those sporting them—something they remind the Skitarii when things get dicey. For the rest of the phase, your unit gets the Feel No Pain 5+ ability, giving them a fighting chance to shrug off damage.
What to Buy Next?
Breachers are all the rage right now, and most people are putting the Manipulus in the squad, so you may need some of them. Then you may want to go with more Rangers/Vanguard (as the new 10th Edition codex rules will give them a lot more power) or go with a more robot-heavy army.
However, most armies will need at least some type of combat, and most people have been fulfilling that with the Dragoons, but unfortunately, they are a little pricey.
Either way, this box gives you your small harassing troops, so you can really decide how you want your army to function and either go with a ton of infantry or build out with a ton of Breachers and Kastelans!
In conclusion, the new Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol box offers a fantastic starting point for experiencing strategic gameplay or simply enjoying assembling and painting intricate miniatures. With its diverse range of cybernetic units and updated rules, this set provides both new and experienced players with an exciting opportunity to explore the faction
