Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal Review: Contents, Points, Pricing & Value

Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal Christmas Battleforce box

The Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal is their 2026 AoS Christmas Box, and if you’re thinking about buying the battleforce, we break down the models, value, and who it’s for.

GW just revealed six Age of Sigmar Battleforce boxes for the holidays, and the Cities of Sigmar one is a straight-up cavalry charge consisting of Tahlia, a Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal, and ten Freeguild Cavaliers. Tahlia Vedra rings up at $170 on her own, which makes it pretty easy to decide whether this box is worth picking up or not.

So we’re going to break down what’s actually inside the Battleforce: Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal, what it’ll probably cost, when pre-orders may land, and whether the value holds up once you pull Tahlia’s price tag out of the totals.

Article summary
  • What’s in the Battleforce: Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal: one Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of the Parch, one Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal, and ten Freeguild Cavaliers.
  • Value is strong: the kits run $376 separately, so you’re saving about $111 (30%) against the estimated $265 box price.
  • The catch: Tahlia is $170 of that value. Pull her out and the rest of the box is only worth $206, which is less than you’d pay for the battleforce.
  • Tabletop take: 12 cavalry models and roughly 760 points of fast, hard-hitting knights, but nobody in the box is built to sit on an objective.
  • Pricing: assumed to land at the new $265 Battleforce price.
  • Release Date: TBD, but these boxes usually go on pre-order or hit shelves on Black Friday, which would be on or around November 27th, 2026.

Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal battleforce: Tahlia Vedra and Freeguild Cavaliers on horseback

Battleforce Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal Release Date & Retail Price:

  • Release Date: November 27th, 2026 (unverified so far, but the boxes usually hit shelves or go on pre-order on Black Friday)
  • Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal Battleforce Retail Price (MSRP/RRP): $265 (USD). Regional pricing is listed below. This price is estimated from the recent Battleforce box price increase, and GW hasn’t revealed the actual price yet.

So at the expected $265 price, Knights of Hammerhal saves about $111 (30%) compared with $376 in separate kits and gets you roughly 760 points of models.

Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of The Parch

GW’s theme for this one is Tahlia leading a cavalry charge through the gates of your Castelite formation, with the Freeguild Cavaliers thundering in behind her, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the box. There’s no infantry filler and no support piece tucked in, so the whole battleforce is built to hit the enemy line on the same turn.

That’s also why the totals on this box are so high. Tahlia is the expensive centerpiece, the Freeguild Cavaliers come two kits deep, and the Cavalier-Marshal rides along to lead them, which also makes this one of the more focused boxes the Cities of Sigmar have gotten in a while.

Christmas Battleforce: Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal List Price: $265 (USA), $320 (Canada), $431 (Australia), £165 (UK), €212 (EU)

Is This Cities of Sigmar Box Worth It?

Freeguild Cavalier-MarshalWell, you’re getting around $111 in savings with Knights of Hammerhal, and that’s a pretty solid number for a Christmas Battleforce. But here’s the catch: Tahlia is $170 of that $376. If she’s already sitting painted on your shelf (or you just don’t want her), the Cavalier-Marshal and ten Cavaliers are only worth $206 on their own. That’s $59 LESS than the box costs.

Honestly, this box lives or dies on whether you want Tahlia. If you do, it’s an easy buy and a great way to kick off one of the Cities of Sigmar army builds centered around heavy cavalry. If you don’t, you’re better off grabbing two boxes of Cavaliers and the Marshal separately.

How Many Points Is This?

We’d guess the Battleforce Cities of Sigmar points come out somewhere around 760 using GW’s current battle profiles, though that number will shift any time the AoS points get an update.

What to Buy Next?

Freeguild Steelhelms 1If you want Knights of Hammerhal to feel like a proper army instead of 12 knights charging in and hoping for the best, start with a unit of Freeguild Steelhelms so you’ve got bodies to hold objectives while your knights are off smashing things.

After that, a unit of Freeguild Fusiliers gives you some ranged support, because there’s only so much the Cavaliers can run down before the enemy starts shooting back. Plus, it gives your opponent something else to worry about besides the giant charge coming at them.

Finally, add a Freeguild Command Corps or another hero to round out your leadership, depending on what your list needs.

Final Thoughts on the Cities of Sigmar Knights of Hammerhal Christmas Box

Freeguild Cavaliers 1If Tahlia Vedra has been on your wish list, Knights of Hammerhal is a great time to grab her, since the box basically hands you a Cavalier-Marshal and ten Cavaliers at a discount on top of her. That’s a pretty strong start for anyone building a cavalry-heavy Cities of Sigmar force this winter.

Just keep an eye on two things before you pre-order: GW hasn’t confirmed the price yet, so the $111 in savings could shrink if the box comes in above $265, and points will keep moving as AoS gets updates. If you already own Tahlia, this is the one Christmas box we’d tell you to skip and buy the Cavaliers separately instead.
