Games Workshop delivered with a ton of Warhammer reveals for the future- check out everything from the Adepticon 2022 preview!
With the event officially over, we’ve seen new previews for 40k, AoS, Horus Heresy, Necromunda, and Warhammer Underworlds. So almost something for everybody!
All the New Adepticon 2022 Preview Models & Reveals
All the big games are there with pretty much everything but Adeptus Titanicus and Aeronautica. So there was something for everyone pretty much this time around at the Adepticon 2022 preview!
GW Confirms New Horus Heresy Starter Box, (Sort of)
Thanks to the following exclusive image submitted by a Spikey Bits reader from last summer, we now have more to go off and a better idea of everything in the set. If these are right, this could be a gigantic starter. They kept saying it was huge, so this could be totally correct.
Also just to note, these are all going to be priced in plastic.
- 40 Mark III Space Marines $200 ($50 for 10)
- 10 Cataphractii Terminators $130 ($65 for 5)
- Contemptor Dreadnought $60 (based on the existing kit)
- Characters $50 (based on the Space Marine Characters pack)
- Spartan $100 (drop from resin based on the Repulsor Executioner price)
- Rulebook and other potential accessories (note the absence of any templates…)
Total MSRP: $540
Total Values: if it’s priced in box at $200: $340 / at $300: $240
Whatever the price comes out to be, even at $300 this could really have the value-packed in there. Especially if the price of the Spartan doesn’t drop as we would expect.
If they do price this at the $200 mark, it could really bring new players into the game, especially if the rules are coming updated along with it.
GW Confirms New Horus Heresy Starter Box, Sort of
This video is honestly pretty amazing, but still, we would have loved to know more about the game. Especially because it’s been forever since the initial pics were leaked.
This might not be the first time we’ve seen Mark VI power armour in plastic (that would have been the first ever plastic kit for Warhammer 40,000 – RTB01), but this brings them up to date with the Mark III and Mark IV kits with LOADS of options.
Well, when you look at the new marine they revealed, and the rumors of the boxset, this looks pretty similar to us! The first Mark VI Marine they showed has that great old-school feel to it, and maybe the best part is its plastic!

Plus from the scaling, if that is a 32mm base, it looks to be more of a “true-scale” size than “firstborn”. He also most likely the model labeled “7” in the leaked starter set image above, almost guaranteeing this is the real deal…
The Praetors are some of the first kits moving to plastic, making the game more approachable than ever before. If you’re a fan of the lore or the Horus Heresy series from Black Library, but you’re not so familiar with advanced resin kits, this is the edition of the game you’ve been waiting for. Both miniatures will be in the launch set for the new edition, on which we’ll have more details coming very soon…
Next up was the Praetor, who is pretty badass honestly. Plus, it looks a lot like the mini in the rumored pics above the model numbered “6”. So, let’s hope the box rumors are true.
That’s basically all they said, other than that the game will be more like 40k and AoS in terms of collection and not be a boxed game more like Necromunda or Blood Bowl.
Either way, new rules and even just one new Horus Heresy starter box set at the bare minimum would be a great thing to see. Here are all the latest rumors on the upcoming rules updates and new models for the Horus Heresy system.

Necromunda Ash Wastes Boxset Adepticon 2022 Preview
The final entry at the LVO preview was Necromunda, and it explores the inhospitable region of the Ash Wastes. Nothing in the way of miniatures were revealed, but the video associated with this release is done in a comic book style, and according to the Preview Team, may have some hints about possible miniatures to come.
So great are the distances between hives that even the most athletic gang won’t get far on foot, so what vehicles can be scraped together will serve your gangers well in the trials to come

New Necromunda Ash Wastes Truck Spotted!
The Reddit post is about how the Genestealer Cults could take over the vehicle. Obviously, by the name of the expansion from GW, it’s all about the gangs that control the Ash Wastes. Still, if it’s a new fast-moving vehicle, it could easily be for GSC or might even have some cross-over rules for 40k.
We also know GW does not like to make art if there aren’t minis, the pic on the left is from a recent Rumor Engine, and the pic on the right is from the recent trailer. They match up pretty perfectly, and from the looks of it, the model will be really close to the artwork.
Then from another pic, it looks like the armored containers kit from GW will actually fit on the back. That makes us believe this is going to be some kind of flatbed trailer.
This would be really cool if you could kitbash it like this, or maybe there will be a container from the Ash Wastes set made specifically for this.
Or who knows, maybe there will be a huge kit like this with a giant armored convoy to fight over. Either way, it looks like another rumor engine has been solved this time as we weren’t sure exactly what this vehicle would be for…
A New Setting
Necromunda: Underhive hit the streets back in 2017, with the action focusing on the “classic” setting – the tunnels and domes of the lower reaches of Necromunda’s miles-high hive cities. Two years later the biggest boxed game we’d ever done came along in the form of Necromunda: Dark Uprising, taking the action into the hellish guts of a cannibal rebellion – just another day in the underhive! These were both followed by the Necromunda: Hive War box just last year.
And now we head to the Ash Wastes – the biggest thing to happen to Necromunda since the 2017 relaunch.
That’s a big statement! We’ll have to wait and see some more reveals, but just that statement alone means this is going to be huge. Let’s hope the boxset doesn’t disappoint with that in mind.
This toxic, rad-scoured landscape is too expansive to fit into a single book. In fact, the wastes are so vast we’re introducing them with a massive new boxed set, which will be followed soon after by a whole series of books exploring the factions that battle across the wastes.
If you were hoping for more true underhivers soon, well, it looks like you won’t be getting them anytime soon. From the looks of the graphic, we’ll be seeing at least three books and another box here sometime in 2022 or possibly 2023.
Necromunda Ash Wastes Boxset Adepticon 2022 preview!
Set off into the great outdoors with Necromunda: Ash Wastes, a new boxed set that brings ruthless gang warfare to the barren wild. Contend with howling winds that’ll strip the flesh from your bones, radzones hot enough to cook your blood in seconds, and locals who’ll eat you as soon as look at you. Are you sure you wouldn’t rather stay inside?
We’ve been seeing previews for about a month or so for this, and GW promises this is the biggest thing to happen to Necromunda since 2017.
The box features House Orlock prospectors duking it out with the Ash Wastes Nomads – a brand new gang native to the hazardous plains beyond the Hive walls. We’ve already glimpsed one of these mysterious desert dwellers, and now it’s time to get a first look at every member of the new gang.
The minis themselves are really cool and have an interesting feel which makes sense with the super harsh wastes of the planet.
These Outrider Quads are impressive, but what of the Ash Wastes Nomads? Surely they won’t be left in the (radioactive) dust by their hiver adversaries? Who needs little buggies… when you have big bug-guys?
These Dustback Riders are definitely something interesting! If you want some weird bugs, even if not for Necromunda they could make for some wild conversions.
This is the first time we’ve ever been outdoors on Necromunda, and the wide-open spaces allow for a completely different type of fighting. The box includes a full gang from the House of Iron, and they’re accompanied by a whole new breed of ganger – time to finally break out the dune buggies!
House Orlock regularly makes trips into the wastes, so it’s good to see. Then, these are the first vehicles in Necromunda, but they said there will be more than this!
The terrain itself is pretty cool, it honestly isn’t an insane amount, but some cool pieces in there.
This is a cool style for the terrain and almost has an Ewok feel to it!
You’ll also grab the rulebook with the box, which is always really nice.
Adepticon 2022 Preview Reveals New Chaos Knights & Codex Books
Yes, new codexes are on the way soon for Chaos Knights and Imperial Knights! The crowd at AdeptiCon have already seen the books for the first time – now it’s your opportunity to admire these mighty tomes.\
Chaos Knights Abominant
The Abominant has everything you could want in a Chaos Knight – tusks, a volkite combustor to devastate distant enemies, an electroscourge to crush anything that gets too close, AND it’s a psyker. Yes, a Knight that has psychic powers! And that gun is a nod to classic Heresy-era weaponry, which their Imperial counterparts have all but lost.
The first miniature up is the upgrade kit to make a Knight Abominant, which will actually be a psyker. It covers most of the things from the Adepticon 2022 preview video, so don’t expect too much else from them. One thing to note here though, is all the current Questors, and Dominus Knights currently go for $170, so we’re not sure what the upgrade sprue will push it to when it releases separately…
The new army set is a great way to kick off a Chaos Knights army and perfect for adding reinforcements to an existing host of Descecrators and Rampagers. This box will be the first place you’ll be able to get your hands on the new Codex: Chaos Knights before it comes out as a separate release soon after.
They also mentioned the army box will have 3 knights (the Abominat and box of two Karnivore models) and the codex, along with some transfer sheets.
Chaos Knight War Dog Karnivore
Armed with a reaper chaintalon and slaughterclaw, the Karnivore can tear its way through anything from Dreadnoughts to Trygons.
Be careful not to upset the Karnivore, or you’ll have to face its bigger brother – the Abominant!
Next up is the Karnivore, which is fully geared up for close combat.
Lastly, we have the two new codex books, so at least Imperial Knight players are getting that!
New AoS Thondia Supplement & Awlrach the Drowner
The Realm of Beasts is coming alive with this new terrain box set that features model kits both new and old judging by the Adepticon 2022 preview!
Plus this box has the new Krondspine Incarnate of Ghur that is supposedly a new type of unit altogether!
What in the Mortal Realms is that thing? It’s a Krondspine Incarnate of Ghur! This savage apparition is a manifestation of pure amber magic, created in the wake of Alarielle’s Rite of Life. It’s a new type of unit that’s part spell, part monster, and all danger.
You can get this model and a ton of terrain in the new Thondian Strongpoint box set that looks to have everything you need for the new Season of War Thonida supplement!
Alongside this imposing new miniature, the kit includes loads of scenery, including the previously available Domicile Shell and Domicile Shell with Winch, which represent the foundation of a new settlement following the Dawnbringer Crusades.
There’s also a Guardian Idol, which will hopefully keep the Kruleboyz away.
There’s new terrain to be found within, too. The Megadroth Remains show just how big the beasties in Ghur can grow – large enough for whole units to hide behind their skeletons in battle – and a Cleansing Aqualith is ideal for anyone who has waterfall envy after seeing the Shrine Luminor.
If you’ve been looking for a box of AoS Terrain the Thondian Strongpoint may be perfect to both fill out your table and to play games with the new supplement as seen in the Adepticon 2022 preview!
Season of War: Thondia supplement
And that’s still not all! Alongside the scenery and the incredible Krondspine Incarnate of Ghur, the first Season of War book is arriving for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. It expands the ongoing narrative of the Mortal Realms, and explores the aftermath of the battle at Amberstone Watch, the siege of Excelsis, the Dawnbringer Crusades, and the alpha-continent of Thondia.
Alongside loads of background and lore, as well as rules for the Incarnate, this book includes new battlepacks for all kinds of games, including two for narrative play – one of them focused on Path to Glory.
Looks like seasons and new terrain elements are coming to Age of Sigmar, but after they were all just removed from the Warhammer 40k side of GW’s webstore it is hard to say how long these releases will even be available.
Vote with your hobby dollars and get them while you can!
Nighthaunts Awlrach the Drowner
In life, Awlrach the Drowner was a wicked ferryman who killed those he was supposed to be transporting (we’re sure you can guess his preferred method from his name). Nagash liked his style, so in death he is tasked with ferrying the spirits of the deceased to wherever the Lord of Death needs them.
There is no doubting his style, and his timing right on the heels of the new Arena of Shades looks to give the Nighthaunts faction the first new units since 2018!
He has special rules to help your army get wherever it needs to be on the tabletop, offering his allies passage through the underworlds. When he’s not busy rowing, the Drowner is pretty handy in a fight with his oar – and we recommend staying away from the pointy end of his boat!
Awlrach the Drowner looks pretty neat for sure, and his rumored abilities can potentially help the Nighthaunts move even FASTER than before.
Don’t forget between the new Arena of Shades box, and their upcoming Battletome for AoS 3.0, this isn’t the last we have heard of the Nighthaunts!
New Chaos Space Marines & Codex Rules REVEALED
There are a lot of Chaos rules and new models rumors floating out there but we’ll be focusing on the next two codex books, the possibility of cross-play plastic Primarchs, and when the main Chaos Space Marine book could actually come out.

40k RUMORS: Huge New Chaos Space Marines Release For 9th Edition
First and foremost, these rumors are all based on new or updated models. If these are true, this is a massive update, almost the size of a new faction release like Soulblight grave lords or Lumineth Realmlords we saw for Age of Sigmar.
There also seems to be a greater emphasis on updating the cultist/human line and most likely important in the faction. One of the unique things about Chaos is the presence of non-marine heretics. So it would be a unique space to expand on for the faction.
Some of these we have already seen as the post points out in Blackstone Fortress, but some seem to be completely new as well.
The deletion of the forum post might be someone asking it to get taken down or maybe even just the author decided to, we can’t know for sure.
Games Workshop Confirms New Chaos Coming in 2022:
Also of note, the recent WHC Codex Roadmap post mentioned this about Chaos:
Eagle-eyed heretics** may note the lack of codexes for the Traitor Legions. Do not despair, as 2022 will be a bumper year for warp-based shenanigans.
This is a huge boon for chaos, as generic CSM has seemed to be on the backburner for the 9th edition. Assuming at least some of the rumors are true there’s huge potential for new additions and updates as the change to Primaris for loyalists seemed to have left Chaos in the dust.
All the New 40k Chaos Space Marines Rumors So Far
First and foremost, way back during the Psychic Awakening, we had already heard a ton of rumors about Fulgrim and a potential EC update. Unfortunately, it may look like that rumor might have been confused with the AoS Hedonites of Slaanesh update.
However, with all the recent Horus Heresy Rumors popping up about new rules and plastic models, one about Plastic cross-system Daemon Primarchs has also surfaced. This raises the question again, are Emperor’s Children on the way, and will they get their own Chaos codex and rules as the rumors have been saying for years?
It certainly looks that way (eventually).
As for World Eaters, they are the fourth main single-god devoted legion, following after Thousand Sons for Tzeentch, Death Guard for Nurgle, Emperors Children for Slaanesh, and World Eaters for Khorne. According to a lot of rumors, they are next for CSM.

So while its fun to speculate more on Deamon Primarch models and the like, you can see all of those rumors here, of which a lot look to be coming true from the confirmed rumors so far.
New Chaos Space Marines & Codex Rules Revealed
Games Workshop was kind of mum of the details for all the new Chaos Space Marines releases and codex rules, but they did give us this trailer with confirms more of the rumors above at the Adepticon 2022 preivew
Yes, Chaos Space Marines players – you’ve beseeched the Ruinous Powers, and they have listened.* We know you’ve been waiting patiently, and your time is soon! Not only is a new codex coming that brings much-anticipated updates to the rules for Heretic Astartes, there will be a slathering of new miniatures to reignite your blasphemous fervour.
These add to what has already been a low-key killer start to 2022 for the Traitor Legions – the Warpsmith and Chosen got new plastic models, reinforcements arrived in the upgraded Legionary kill team, and now this updated tome of forbidden lore will give them the support they deserve.
So from the rumors above, we seem to have A LOT and I mean A LOT of confirmations here…

New Blood Bowl Norse Team & Underworlds Warband Revealed!
The team itself is really quite frightening! They are also cool enough that even if you don’t play the game, these could make for some awesome conversions.
The players themselves are quite fearsome, and we wouldn’t want to play against them!
The team has some unique positionals, including the skilful Valkyries, the brutal Berzerkers, and the even more brutal Ulfwereners, who look like they could have flown in straight from Fenris for a game of Blood Bowl. Our favourite player is the Beer Boar, though. Not only do they provide a quick mid-game pick-me-up to the rest of the team, but they’ll surely be challenging the Avatar of Khaine for this year’s Miniature of the Year prize.
The Beer Boars might be the best players you can get! Plus, GW has really been on the animal minis kick lately, so this keeps that going.
New Warband: The Exiled Dead
Deintalos and his reanimated cadavers seek to uncover every secret in Harrowdeep. Much like Blackpowder’s Buccaneers, the Exiled Dead offer a unique take on the inhabitants of the Mortal Realms – in this case, a real mad-scientist version of zombies.
This is an interesting way to go with the undead, as he uses science and not just the arcane.
That vampire is Deintalos the Exiled, a necromancer whose grisly experiments went too far for even those in Shyish. Can you imagine experimenting so much with necromancy that even Nagash asks you to knock it off? In Harrowdeep, far from prying eyes, he continues his work, assisted by his mortal apprentice Marcov.
The models are pretty sweet and could help spice up your AoS army as well as making a cool Warband.
