Space Marine Heroes Series 1 (2017): Classic Warhammer 40k Heroes
The first Space Marine Heroes set dropped in Japan in 2017, offering 12 collectible power-armored miniatures packed in 24 blind boxes. Each model cost around 600 Yen (about $7 USD), which wasn’t bad for the time.
These classic Warhammer 40k heroes were easy to build, detailed for their size, and a hit among fans who loved the mystery of opening each box. They didn’t gain much traction outside Japan at first, but collectors quickly recognized them as must-have display pieces.
- 12 unopened boxes
- Cleverly designed to pop off its frame with minimal force
- Made from high-quality material
- Strong and durable for long term
- Country of Origin: Australia

Space Marine Heroes Series 2: Terminator Warhammer Heroes Set
The second Space Marine Heroes series featured red-plastic Terminators clearly inspired by the Blood Angels, though notably without official chapter icons.
Distributed through both local shops and non-traditional retailers, this wave expanded the line’s reach. A Japanese manga tie-in even appeared, though it was tricky to find outside Asia.
These Terminator Warhammer Heroes miniatures proved that blind-box 40k could work beyond the usual Space Marine mold.
Death Guard Space Marine Heroes Series 3: Chaos 40k Heroes
Series 3 flipped the script. The Death Guard Space Marine Heroes set introduced the first Chaos models into the lineup, featuring easy-to-build Nurgle-corrupted Marines that looked phenomenal right out of the box.
Released first in Japan and later worldwide, these kits became fan favorites for their grotesque detail and hobby-friendly builds. Even long-time Chaos players called them some of the best single-pose Warhammer 40k heroes Games Workshop ever made.
Space Marine Heroes Series 4 (Kind of)
The Space Marine Heroes Blood Angels collection 2 packs are pretty cool, but fairly expensive for what you get. As an $8 Firstborn mini really isn’t too exciting, but it is fun to open the pack, not sure of what you’re going to get, and they are different sculpts than the normal tactical squad. So it might be worth it as far as that goes…
Plus, you get the card and a textured base. However, nothing is different from the first wave, except the color of the plastic. Plus there isn’t even any Blood Angels iconography on the models, other than the decals the painting team threw on.
So while they are red plastic, they are identical to the set put out basically in series one…
- Space Marine Heroes 2023 – Blood Angels Collection Two brings you a selection of six of these towering warriors, armed with a variety of weapons with which to eviscerate their enemies.
- Each Space Marine Heroes miniature is a multipart plastic model, cast in red plastic and supplied with a textured rubble base.
- These kits are push-fit and push-off the frame – so no glue or clippers are required to assemble them.
- Each has a single unique pose and can be assembled with your choice of a bare head or helmet.
- These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly.

Warhammer Heroes Strike Force Justian: Series 4 Space Marine Heroes
Rebranded under the Warhammer Heroes name, Series 4 brought Intercessors and Assault Marines into the mix with the Strike Force Justian release.

This wave promised a smooth global rollout in 2023, but supply chain gremlins had other plans. Japan and Europe got stock first, while the U.S. saw a ghost-level release. A few boxes appeared at random big-box stores months later, leaving collectors hunting eBay for full squads.
Still, Strike Force Justian stands out as the set that officially merged the Space Marine Heroes brand into the broader Warhammer Heroes collection.

Warhammer Heroes Series 5: Stormcast Eternals Set
For the fifth wave, Games Workshop took a detour into the Mortal Realms with Warhammer Heroes Series 5: Stormcast Eternals.
Launching on October 26, 2024, this set swapped bolters for hammers and plasma for lightning. Each blind box featured one of seven unique Stormcast sculpts, all new and highly collectible.
Even if you weren’t an Age of Sigmar fan, these minis brought the same blind-box excitement that made Space Marine Heroes famous, expanding the Warhammer Heroes line into new territory.

Space Marine Heroes Series 6: Strike Force Variel
Series 6 marked the triumphant return of Space Marine Heroes with Strike Force Variel, a modern set tailored for both collectors and Kill Team players.
Each box contained a push-fit Space Marine with a corresponding Kill Team data card (available in English, German, or Japanese). There are seven models in total, plus one secret Lieutenant the community definitely didn’t keep secret for long.
The lineup includes:
- Sternguard Sergeant Ramus
- Infernus Marine Haroth
- Assault Intercessor Maphael
- Infiltrator Belath
- Intercessor Zeradim
- Reiver Nahrden
- Secret Lieutenant (but we’ve found him on Reddit)
Secret Lieutenant Variel Found
Officially, GW’s keeping quiet about him, but Reddit being Reddit, someone cracked open a box and spilled the beans. Turns out the figure is literally Variel himself, the namesake of Strike Force Variel, which makes perfect sense and somehow still feels like a reveal.
If you’re running his team, you’ll definitely want the actual model leading it. He’s got that classic “command pose” energy, the kind that says, “I’ve seen some stuff, and you’re gonna follow my orders or regret it.” A lucky few have already posted sprue shots online, so the mystery didn’t last long.
Each display case comes with eight blind boxes, which means getting the full Space Marine Heroes Series 6 roster takes a mix of luck, persistence, and maybe a few trades with your local game store crew. You might even end up with an army of duplicate Intercessors, but hey, that’s just more parts for the bits box and another excuse to repaint “just one more Marine.”
- Games Workshop - Warhammer 40,000 - Warhammer Heroes - Dark Angels (Display box of 8 random plastic model kit)
- Each display box contains 8 random figures (7 different ones to collect)
- Each box is not guaranteed to contain a full set of 7 different figures
- Plastic Model Kit
