GW revealed their latest Warhammer new releases featuring Age of Sigmar’s Spearhead: City of Ash box, the Null Myriad Phalanx battleforce, and Dan Abnett’s Hive Limited Edition, hitting pre-order this week!
Games Workshop revealed its latest pre-orders this week for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, headlined by the Spearhead: City of Ash expansion, an Ossiarch Bonereapers battleforce, and a signed limited edition of Dan Abnett’s Hive from Black Library.
Here’s the full lineup, along with our thoughts on all the new products.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: New Pre-Order Releases
These products will be available for pre-order on Saturday, April 18, around 1 p.m. EST in the States, with a shelf release date of Saturday, May 9.
If you’re still waiting on something else to hit pre-order, be sure to check out the latest new release lineup in our updated Warhammer Roadmap.
City of Ash Spearhead Pre-Order
This one’s doing a lot more than most Spearhead expansions. You’re getting 42 miniatures split across Cities of Sigmar and Skaven, plus a double-sided game board, two ruined manor terrain pieces, five relic objectives, 36 Spearhead cards, and a 72-page Age of Sigmar Handbook with the core rules.
GW is treating this more like a starter set than a supplement, and honestly, it’s priced more like one, too, when you break down what’s in the box.
The Cities of Sigmar side has Jorvan Kreel and his companion Thexa the Ash Panther leading a Mallus Forgepriest, five Freeguild Gallants, and 10 Freeguild Grenadiers. The Skaven get Deathmaster Crixxit, a second Deathmaster, 10 Gutter Runners, 10 Night Runners, and two Bomb Rats. If you’ve got a friend who wants to go halves, this splits cleanly, and both sides work as the start of a full army collection outside of Spearhead.
The terrain, board, objectives, and Spearhead cards all work in any Spearhead game, not just the City of Ash missions. So even if you already have forces built, there’s real replay value in the accessories alone. The City of Ash battlepack book has missions designed specifically around the terrain in the box, which is a nice touch that most expansions don’t bother with.
Hobby Tip for Spearhead starter forces: Magnetize the bases before you prime. Both forces benefit from transport-friendly storage, and Spearhead boards are small enough that a magnetized tray keeps setup under five minutes.
Null Myriad Phalanx Battleforce
Arkhan the Black riding Razarak is still one of the better-looking Mortarch kits GW has put out, and he anchors this battleforce nicely. Alongside him, you get a Mortisan Soulmason, four Morghast Archai (which can also be built as Harbingers), and 20 Mortek Guard. That’s a real core for an Ossiarch Bonereapers army, not just a random grab bag of units that happen to share a faction keyword.
The dual-build on the Morghasts is worth thinking about before you glue anything, since the Archai and Harbinger loadouts play pretty differently on the table. The whole box ties into the Null Myriad Army of Renown from the battletome, so if you’ve been eyeing that subfaction, this is the most straightforward way in. It’s a while-stocks-last release, and GW hasn’t said how long the window is, so don’t sit on it if you’re interested.
Hobby Tip for large skeleton constructs: Dry-fit the Morghast wing assemblies before committing to a build variant. The Archai and Harbinger weapon options change the model’s center of gravity, and you’ll want to check the balance on the base before you glue the wings in place.
Black Library: New Pre-Order Releases
The latest Black Library pre-order titles are here; they’re hotter than a Salamander Space Marines’ forge! So if you’re into far-future battles, mysterious quests, or tales of heroism, there’s probably something here for you.
Hive (Limited Edition)
Dan Abnett writing about the internal politics of a hive world is the kind of premise that sells itself. The story follows the fallout from a planetary governor’s death, with Arbites patrols trying to hold the city together while gangs fight for territory and rebellion simmers up from below. It’s a two-volume set in a decorative slipcase, with unique cover artwork, red page edges, ribbon markers, and each copy is signed and numbered by Abnett.
If you collect Black Library special editions, you already know how quickly signed Abnett books sell out. This is while stocks last, and those stocks tend not to last very long.

City of Ash is carrying this week, and it’s doing some heavy lifting in the process. Two full Spearhead forces, a rulebook, terrain that works in any Spearhead game, and missions built around the board in the box.
The Null Myriad Phalanx gives Ossiarch Bonereapers players a clean starting point with a genuine centerpiece in Arkhan, and the Hive Limited Edition is for the collectors who know they need to move fast. Three products, each one clear about what it’s for and who it’s for.
