Game Envy Expands Miniature Lighting With LUCENT PRO and GO

Game Envy expands its LUCENT hobby lighting lineup with the new PRO and GO, giving miniature painters more ways to light their workspace.

Not everybody paints at a hobby desk with a pegboard full of brushes, and Game Envy seems to get that. Instead of trying to make one lamp work for every hobby setup, they’re splitting the next LUCENT light lineup into two options: the PRO and the GO.

The Kickstarter pre-launch page is already up, so you can sign up to get notified when it goes live. And with the original LUCENT still on hobby desks for the last several years, Game Envy isn’t exactly new to painting lights game either.

ARTICLE SUMMARY:
  • LUCENT PRO and LUCENT GO: Two new lights headed to Kickstarter, pitched at permanent painting stations and portable hobby setups.
  • Original LUCENT: Five adjustable LED panels, 95+ CRI, and 1,350 lumens, which is the bar both new models have to clear.
  • Kickstarter pre-launch: The notify page is live now, while pricing and configurations haven’t been shared yet.

Two LUCENTs Make More Sense Than One Lamp for Everybody

Lucent Go and Pro Lights

Honestly, having two options makes sense. Some hobbyists have a whole desk dedicated to painting, while the rest of us are setting up at the kitchen table, the LGS, a convention, or wherever we can grab some space for an hour.

And let’s face it, that big lamp you love on your painting desk isn’t exactly something you want to haul around on hobby night either. Being able to buy a light that fits where you actually paint sounds a whole lot better than trying to make one lamp do everything.

That’s what we’re curious about with the GO. If you’ve ever packed a light for your hobby go-bag, you know it’s usually one of the first things you compromise on. But if the GO can make painting away from your desk easier without leaving you squinting at every little detail, that’s already a pretty good reason to pick this one up and bring it along.

As for the PRO, it’ll be interesting to see what Game Envy does for painters who already have a permanent setup. The original LUCENT had five adjustable LED panels, a 95+ CRI rating, and 1,350 lumens, so there’s already a decent starting point. We don’t have the new lights’ actual specs, configurations, or pricing yet, though, so it’s too early to say how much of an upgrade either one will be.

Either way, we’re looking forward to seeing what Game Envy reveals when the Kickstarter goes live. The big things to watch are what each light actually offers, how much they’ll cost, and whether the PRO or GO makes more sense for your hobby setup.

For now, you can sign up for the launch notification and see what Game Envy has planned. Once the full details are out, we’ll see how both lights compare with the original LUCENT and the rest of our best hobby light picks for painting miniatures.
