The new Warhammer 40k Grey Knights Combat Patrol is here, and it’s worth taking a look at… but maybe not for the normal reasons.
It’s packed with old units that feel like GW is clearing out its backlog. Either way, this box has hobbyists discussing its contents, release date, and whether it’s worth it for new players, despite veterans not being overly enthusiastic about it.

Contents List, Release Date, Pricing & Value
The new 2025 Grey Knights Combat Patrol has a release date that’s still to be announced (TBA), but rumors suggest August. It also has an increased retail price of $170 (up from $168), similar to the prices of previous releases (see below for local currency conversions).

Grey Knights 40k Combat Patrol Review
This is a strange box, and people have been letting GW know about it… It really feels odd to get a brand new box at almost the end of 10th Edition to see older scale minis, and Crowe towering over everything almost makes it stranger.
Either way, there is some value to be had here. Additionally, you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, aptly called “Combat Patrol.”

Is it Worth It?

Of the newer CPs we’ve seen, this is on the lower end of value, and the models inside are just not it. Like we said before, this almost feels like GW trying to clear out some of their old stock before dropping new models. However, if they are getting anything new, we’ll have to wait until 11th Edition for them…
However, despite the model choice being a little odd, this does have value for new players. It gets you a decent starting force and saves you some cash at the same time. At least one has more value than some of the previous few we’ve seen.

So, you’re wondering how many points the Grey Knights Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 650 points (at least in our rough estimates; it could change once the codex comes out).

What to Buy Next?
Well, you have a good mix of troops with this box, but it doesn’t force you into any one style of play. However, we haven’t seen the new codex yet, so it’s hard to say exactly what you want, but you can never go wrong with another Strike Squad or two and more Terminators.
The only new thing they are getting this time around is an upgrade sprue for the Dreadknight, so you probably want a couple of those too!
OOP 2022 Version:
The Out of Print (OOP) 2022 Grey Knights Combat Patrol was a Daemon-slaying force! Released on March 26th, 2022, this set was packed with 19 models.
Compared to the new box, this had horrible value, and while the new box might not be the most exciting, it’s a better deal than their previous one!
At a $168 price tag and an MSRP value of $205, it provided approximately $37 in savings, ranking it as one of the worst boxes available.

Final Thoughts on the Grey Knights Combat Patrol
From Daemon-slaying heavy hitters to an old-school dreadnought, this box is definitely interesting. It’s got value, it’s got attitude, and despite the memes on it, it might just be worth it for new players. Or… it could just be GW clearing out some backstock before 11th Edition gets here, hard to say!
