The AoS Christmas Box for the Slaves to Darkness is the Legion of Damnation, and if you’re thinking about buying the battleforce, we break down the models, value, and who it’s for.
Games Workshop finally put some real plastic in a Christmas box, and it went to the Varanspire. The Slaves to Darkness just got a Christmas Battleforce that’s armor, armor, and more armor, with a Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount riding out in front of Chosen, Varanguard, Chaos Knights, and a full block of Chaos Warriors.
Honestly, it’s the kind of box Chaos players hope for every holiday season and rarely get. So we’re going to break down what’s actually inside the Legion of Damnation, what it’ll probably cost, when pre-orders may land, and whether the value is real (spoiler: it is, and by more than we expected).
- What’s in the Slaves to Darkness Legion of Damnation: one Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount, five Chaos Chosen, three Varanguard, five Chaos Knights, and ten Chaos Warriors.
- The value is strong: itemized MSRP from Warhammer.com comes out to $381.50, putting savings at roughly $116.50 versus the estimated $265 box price, with no upgrade sprue padding the math.
- Tabletop take: 24 models and roughly 1,090 points of 3+ save infantry and heavy cavalry, which is most of a Slaves to Darkness army in one box.
- Pricing: Assumed to be the new price increase amount of $265 for Battleforces.
- Release Date: TBD, but last year’s AoS battleforces went up for pre-order in mid-November, so expect something between then and Black Friday on November 27th, 2026.

Slaves to Darkness AoS Christmas Box Values & Pricing
The theme here is that this warband wouldn’t dare disappoint the Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse, and looking at the sprues, it probably wouldn’t. Every kit in here is a unit Slaves to Darkness players actually put on the table, from Chosen grinding through enemy infantry to Varanguard crashing into whatever the Everchosen pointed at this week.
Plus, the box leans hard into the elite side of the army. Between the Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount, five Chaos Knights, and three Varanguard, you’re getting nine mounted models, and that’s exactly the stuff that empties a hobby wallet fast when you buy it one kit at a time.
So, if you’ve been building toward the Wrath of the Everchosen look of a big armored cavalry push, this box does half the work for you.

Is This Slaves to Darkness Box Worth It?
Yep. You’re getting around $116.50 in savings with the Legion of Damnation, and that’s a healthy number for a Christmas Battleforce. Sure, the Varanguard carry a lot of that value at $112 for three models. But pull them out and the rest of the box still holds up, and 24 armored models is a whole lot of hobby for one purchase. Even compared to the older Slaves to Darkness battleforces, this one feels like it was built by someone who actually plays the army.
So if you play Slaves to Darkness, or you’ve been eyeing the army and waiting for a good way in, this is the box. The only real reason to pass is a shelf already stacked with Warriors and Knights.
How Many Points Is This?
We’d guess the Slaves to Darkness Legion of Damnation points land somewhere around 1,090, which gets you more than halfway to a 2,000-point list before you’ve bought anything else.
What to Buy Next?
If you want the Legion of Damnation to grow into a full 2,000-point army instead of a very shiny pile of armored elites, start with a second box of Chaos Warriors so you can run that unit reinforced to 20. Tough bodies with a 3+ save are what sit on objectives while your cavalry gets to do the fun part.
After that, a Chaos Sorcerer Lord ($40) adds some magic to the list, because an army that’s all melee feels great right up until something nasty starts shooting at you from across the table.
Finally, if you want a centerpiece, Archaon the Everchosen ($205) is the obvious pick. GW literally name-dropped him in the box description, and it’d feel wrong to build his legion for the Slaves to Darkness without the Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse showing up to lead it.
Final Thoughts on the Slaves to Darkness Legion of Damnation
At the end of the day, the Legion of Damnation is the easiest call in the AoS Christmas lineup for Chaos players. It’s a stack of Varanspire armor at a real discount, and it doesn’t lean on filler to make the value work.
The only thing we’re still waiting on is GW’s actual price. If it lands at $265 as we expect, this is an instant buy for anyone starting or growing a Slaves to Darkness army, and honestly, it might drag a few new players over to the Dark Gods this winter. If GW sneaks the price higher, the savings shrink, but there’s enough cushion here that it’d still be worth grabbing before the pre-order window closes.
