Space Wolves Army Set Unboxing & Review
New box, new wolves, new rules—and a few old units kicked to the curb. Here’s what hit us hardest (in the best way):
- You’re getting 28 badass minis, including Blood Claws, Grey Hunters, Headtakers, and two named characters. The sprue variety’s wild—tons of heads, weapons, and beardy Viking vibes.
- Codex? Fancy. Gold-trimmed pages, lush artwork, and some solid lore. A few units (RIP Long Fangs, Wolf Scouts) didn’t make the cut, though.
- Three detachments with their own flavor: more wounds, more rerolls, more punch. Beast Slayer’s the MVP for hunting big targets.
- Thunderwolf characters are gone, but the wolves themselves ride on. Terminators got faster, Wolfin are better, and Arjac’s still out here clobbering faces.
- Grey Hunters and Blood Claws got actual rules that make them worth taking—finally.
Space Wolves Army Set Unboxing
Let’s talk plastic. The new Space Wolves Army Set is packed with fresh sprues—no repackaged upgrade kits, just full-on new blood. You get two identical main sprues for both the Grey Hunters and Blood Claws.
The only real giveaway? Bolters vs. bolt pistols. That’s it. Same layout, smart design—great for splitting the box with a buddy.
Most models sit on 32mm bases, with characters on 40’s and the wolves receiving the 60mm oval treatment. Bonus points to GW for making the builds feel intuitive. Primaris-style leg greaves, familiar connection points, and plenty of customization baked in.
Now, the wolf-themed bling is wild: championship belts, dangling talismans, pelted cloaks, and yes, tactical rocks. Because a true Space Wolf doesn’t fight without standing dramatically mid-battle.
If you’re into head swaps, good news—there’s a solid mix of bare and helmeted options.
But here’s the kicker—weapon scaling is back in sync with older Firstborn kits. Bolters, pistols, even thunder hammers match the legacy scale. That means your vintage bits box just became relevant again.
More conversion potential? Absolutely.
Just watch out for the fur cloaks. They go on Chaos Warrior-style, which can lead to minor gaps near the shoulder pads. An easy fix with Tamiya extra thin cement or some homemade sprue glue (you are making sprue glue, right?).
TL;DR: This box doesn’t just look good—it’s designed smart, builds smoothly, and offers more than just nostalgia (just watch out for the gaping). We think it’s a solid value for anyone building or rebuilding a Space Wolves army in the current edition.

Is it Worth It?
In short, yes! So far, we think this has a very high value (basically over 40%), and it is packed with all-new miniatures that people have been waiting for years and years.
Even though there aren’t any of the named characters, it will be the first place you can grab any of the new stuff and the codex. However, if you already have the old models of these, it might be hard to pony up the cash for a new box.
Either way, it gets you a bunch of new minis and early access to the codex!
How Many Points Is This?
While the codex isn’t out yet, based on the current points, we would guess this box is somewhere around 600-700 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.

What to Buy Next?
Now the wolf is out of the bag, and we know there are a ton of new Space Wolves models coming out in addition to this army set. Any of these elite warrior models would be a fantastic addition to your Army Set, featuring completely new sculpts for the Space Marines!
With this box, you have a decent amount of troops, a few heavy hitters, and plenty of unique units. So, we’d also grab some transports for your models, some fast attack, and of course, some long-range heavy weapons and bolt carbines firepower!
However, you can never go wrong with just getting what you think looks cool. The rule of cool will never die, but the meta will shift all the time!
Final Thoughts on Value
So, there you have it! The new Space Wolves Army Set for 2025 is shaping up to be a solid buy for anyone looking to amp up their army with some fantastic units to score all your secondary missions and give you plenty of close combat power.
With its great value and a nice mix of models, it’s like getting a leg up on the battlefield (pun intended) without breaking the bank.
