Battlescribe & Alternative Warhammer 40k Army List Builder APP

battlescribe-alterantives-ios-abandoned-program-40k-army-buildersHere is a look at some alternative Warhammer 40k army list builder app and programs to replace Battlescribe now.

We recently covered the latest on how the Battlescribe’s publisher has been acting in regard to the data maintainers, as well as the lack of updates for two years now.

Now for 10th Edition Warhammer 40k, it has been reported by the data maintainers that Battlescribe app will stop working.  With that in mind, it might be a good idea to start looking for alternatives for Warhammer 40k Army Builder programs and apps!

Battlescribe, Alternative Warhammer 40k Army List Builder App Programs

One other thing before we get into the actual alternatives. There isn’t much point in paying for Battlescribe, as from all indications, the developer stopped working on it long ago.

As the data maintainers are quick to point out, the developer gets all the money from the payments, whereas the incredible team who updates all the data in this alternative Warhammer 40k army builder app does not make a dime from all their hard work!

Warhammer Units

Free 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Army Builder 6

The first truly free army builder app is here that works excellent for 10th Edition Warhammer 40k. Best of all, it’s pretty easy to use and make new army lists!

Free 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Army Builder 7

This app is called Warhammer Units and is pretty easy to use once you get how it works. It has also had a ton of updates already, which makes sense with all the new datasheets and rules drops at the beginning of 10th Edition. So if something doesn’t seem right, they have a Discord to post feedback on for future updates.

You can check it out by clicking here Warhammer Units.

Phalanx Tools

Battlescribe alternativesThis is an open-source roster editor project to replace BattleScribe by the Data maintainers themselves. This is a cool idea as the code can be seen, and you can go on and point out things you think are wrong and raise ideas.

Obviously, at this point, this is in pre-alpha, but with the way they are going about it, this could turn out to be very rewarding down the road! They also already have a giant Discord, so while it might be a little while until this comes to fruition, things are looking good, and it is worth checking out.

Especially if you know how to code, you could help get the project moving along to completion so we all could benefit from an alternative Warhammer 40k army builder alternative app!  You can check it out by clicking here Phalanx Tools.

Newrecruit EU

Battlescribe alternatives 2

New Recruit is a modern, free, web-based army builder.

Historically New Recruit was only available for The 9th Age Fantasy Battles. Over the years New Recruit has been recognized as the best army builder for The 9th Age by thousands of people and it is now available for many more game systems.

New recruit claims to be able to interpret Battlescribe files (was originally written as a 9th-age tournament app). You can see right there that they have a lot of game systems included, and if you want another place to view your lists (and maybe it’s good to have a backup).

This is worth checking out and may be worthwhile to upload your lists into if you want a decent backup.   You can check it out by clicking here Newrecruit EU.

Quartermaster

Quartermaster

Quartermaster is a management app for tabletop miniature games that knows how to play nice.

This is an iOS replacement that doesn’t use the same data format, so while it’s not compatible, you can use this to build your rosters on iOS.

They have forms for factions that are also updated by the community, so if you want to help, you definitely can, and if you’re looking for an alternative, might as well download it and give it a shot!  You can check it out by clicking here Quartermaster.

Rosterizer

Rosterizer

Rosterizer is a game list management app that provides a rich cross-platform editing experience and robust data authoring. We’re in active development as of August 2022 and have begun our closed beta test. The recent publicly-visible rosters of beta users can be viewed below, minus most stats; only lists of assets will be visible without the appropriate game data.

This is another app in development, but they are further along than some. As they are currently doing a closed Beta, they might be in full use sooner than some of the others.

Rosterizer 2As you can see, they already have some sample lists built, which is good for their development. Keep an eye out, and hopefully, soon, we’ll see full list-building capabilities on there! You can get all the details on this App by clicking here Rosterizer.

Free GW Warhammer 40k App Army Builder for 10th Edition Download

The latest on the free Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Army Builder App download comes from Warhammer Community.

Warhammer 40k App Army Builder for 10th Edition

This app is designed to work hand-in-hand with the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, providing an easy-to-use army planner called Battle Forge. This will provide datasheets that are updated as they change, and a quick rules reference section.

Battle Forge lets you create armies for three game sizes: Incursion, Strike Force, and Onslaught (1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 points respectively). Although it’s now easier than ever to put together an army, Battle Forge will automatically flag any mistakes you’ve made such as incorrect loadouts or choices. You’ll also be able to export your lists to share with your friends or submit to events prior to competing.

Maybe the best part about the app, for right now, is that all the datasheets will be updated here. This is huge because we all know at the start of a new edition, there will be tons of changes to the datasheets and rules, so just having them continuously updated and you don’t have to search around for the newest datasheets.

Also, with only three levels of points, it should be easy for them to program it to get the points correct and show what you’re doing wrong in the list (which, again, seems pretty straightforward.)

GW’s Warhammer 40k App (Old- 9th Edition)

warhammer app

We’ve talked a lot about the Official Warhammer 40k app, but it is out there. Let’s say user experience varies. However, the AoS app works quite well for whatever reason, so it shows they can make something dope; they never crossed the finish line on the 9th Edition Warhammer 40k version.

What’s your favorite alternative 10th Edition Warhammer 40k army list builder app program to Battlescribe? Which of the others have you tried?
