This week’s Warhammer Sunday Preview is a quiet one, with no new pre-orders, though Dan Abnett’s Hive Special Edition does hit select stores on May 30th.
Games Workshop revealed a near-empty slate this Sunday. Nothing new goes up for pre-order next weekend, and GW is happy to call it a deliberate breather.
That leaves one thing worth talking about this week, plus how to spend the hobby weekend.
Black Library: New Special Edition
This is normally where we hand you the pre-order for Saturday and the street date for store shelves, but not this week.
Honestly, with nothing new going up, GW is calling it “the calm before a storm”, and that storm is the Armageddon Starter Set, the big 11th Edition launch box sitting next on the 2026 Warhammer Roadmap. So break out the brushes and chip away at the backlog instead.
HIVE (Special Edition): Available at Select Warhammer Stores Only
The one release on the board is the Special Edition of Dan Abnett’s Hive, and it isn’t even a pre-order. If you’re passing though one of a select group of Warhammer stores next weekend, you can grab it in person from May 30th.
It’s the same tale of intrigue, treachery, and rebellion as the hardback that’s already out, so the story hasn’t changed. What’s changed is the package. The Special Edition is a slipcase that holds both volumes, featuring unique cover artwork, blood-red page edges, and red ribbon bookmarks.
Now, this one is stock-limited and store-only, so there’s no pre-order button to mash and no new street date beyond that in-store date. Ask your store manager how to get hold of a copy, and don’t sit on it if you want one, because “while stocks last” always tends to mean exactly that with Black Library special editions.

Final Thoughts on the Quiet Sunday Preview
A week with no pre-orders isn’t GW running out of road; it’s just GW clearing the deck. Sure, the Hive Special Edition is a solid in-store grab for Abnett readers, but the real point of this week is what isn’t here yet.
With the pre-order slate this empty, the Armageddon Starter Set is so close we can taste it…
