Ogor Mawtribes Grell Firefist Makes Shooting Scary Again

Grell Firefist new ogor character age of sigmar

The Ogor Mawtribes Grell Firefist rocks Blastbelch, a giant portable cannon that can flatten a regiment before the ogors even hit the charge.

Ogors with a cannon shouldn’t work this well, but Grell Firefist makes shooting a real “W” for Destruction armies now. For years, the Ogor Mawtribes have been the army you brace for when they come crashing across the table. Grell makes that tactic even stronger, while also picking enemies apart at range.

GW revealed her just a couple of weeks after the Big Summer Preview and the seven-kit reveal that started this wave, plus the Ogor Hunters that came last week. GW clearly isn’t done rolling out minis for the refreshed battletome, one piece at a time.

So, if you play ogors in Age of Sigmar, or you’re stuck facing them, a strong shooting model stapled onto a charge-first army is exactly the kind of thing that can bend a matchup. Anyone who’s run the Scrapglutt Spearhead already knows how fast this army gets across the board, and now it has even more tools to hurt you.

ARTICLE SUMMARY:
  • New character: Grell Firefist is a cannon-wielding Ogor Mawtribes mercenary, part of the ongoing reveal wave.
  • Table effect: her cannon fire distracts a unit so nearby ogors can fall back and re-charge.
  • Ammo note: Blastbelch loads whatever’s handy, and Ogor-made Ammunition punishes a single target hardest.

Grell Firefist Turns Blackpowder Into a Charge Reset

Grell is more like a gun on legs because of what her shooting does to the rest of the turn. She’s a well-traveled mercenary who has killed almost everything worth killing and eaten most of it, and best of all, she’ll work for anyone who can pay.

Her cannon fire is so loud and obnoxious that enemy units are drawn to it. That distraction gives nearby ogors space to fall back and line up another charge. So Grell isn’t just doing damage, she’s giving a warglutt a way to hit, back off, and come smashing in again, which is cool.

The cannon also does plenty of work on its own:

  • Blastbelch gets loaded with whatever Grell can find nearby, so she’s never short on something to fire downrange.
  • Its Ogor-made Ammunition gets especially nasty when it’s aimed at one unlucky target, which usually leaves a lot less for the rest of the army to charge.

None of this is a full warscroll yet, and we’d wait for the battletome’s actual numbers before building a list around her. Still, the lore and rules preview are pointing in the same direction. Grell is so hooked on blackpowder that blowing off her own hand didn’t slow her down, and a model with that setup probably isn’t meant to sit in the back and look busy.

Final Thoughts on Ogor Mawtribes Grell Firefist

Grell Firefist is coming soon, and the teaser points straight at more Ogor reveals next Monday. That makes it pretty clear this release wave still has more hiding behind it.

The real question is whether a cannon-and-distraction character pushes Ogor Mawtribes toward a real shooting angle. If she does, the old plan of just surviving the Ogor charge gets a lot worse. Now you may have to deal with the cannons and shooting before the army even gets into your lines.
