The Horus Heresy Christmas Box Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group, is here, and if you’re thinking about buying the battleforce, we break down the models, value, and who it’s for.
Heresy players finally got their Christmas present, and the Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group shows up with a Land Raider riding shotgun for six Cataphractii Terminators, which pretty much does the value math before you even crack open the Tacticals.
So we’re going to take a look at what’s actually inside the box, what it costs in every region, the contents, and whether the savings hold up once you price every kit out separately (spoiler: the math holds up for the most part).
- What’s in the Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group: 20 Mark III Tactical Squad Legionaries, 10 Mark III Breacher Squad Legionaries, five Mark III Legion Command Squad Legionaries, six Cataphractii Terminators with Volkite Chargers and Power Mauls, and one Land Raider Explorator/Carrier.
- The value is real: itemized MSRP comes out to $386, putting savings at about $131 (34%) versus the $255 box price, and the Land Raider alone covers $100 of that.
- Tabletop take: 42 miniatures built around Breachers, Terminators, and a transport to deliver them, which makes it a natural fit for Zone Mortalis.
- Pricing: $255 (USA), $300 (Canada), $435 (Australia), £160 (UK), €206 (EU).
- Release Date: Nov 27th, 2026 with a $255 price tag.

HH Christmas Box Values & Pricing
GW pitched this one as the box for players who prefer the immovable object, and they weren’t kidding. Every kit in here wants to walk straight at the enemy in thick armor, from the 20 Mark III Legionaries holding the line to the 10 Breachers dragging boarding shields through every bulkhead door.
Then the six Cataphractii Terminators climb out of a Land Raider Explorator (or the Carrier, if you build it that way) with volkite chargers and power mauls, so the whole box looks like GW decided the best way to solve a Heresy firefight is to skip most of it. Then the Mark III Command Squad rounds it out, and since it has a pile of ranged and close combat loadouts, it can fit whatever your Legion is already doing.

Is This Horus Heresy Christmas Box Worth It?
Well, you’re getting around $131 in savings with the Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group, and that’s a strong number for a Christmas Battleforce, especially since there’s no upgrade sprue padding the total.
Plus, 42 miniatures is a real haul. The $100 Land Raider carries a big chunk of the value on its own, and 20 Tacticals plus 10 Breachers gives you enough Mark III bodies to fill out the core of a Legion before you’ve bought a single extra box. If you already picked up the Siege Assault Battle Group, this box stacks right on top of it, too.
So, if you’re starting a new Legion or you already know you want Breachers and Cataphractii, this box is pretty easy to justify.
How Many Points Is This?
We would guess the Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group points are somewhere around 870, based on base unit costs with no wargear upgrades.
What to Buy Next?
If you want the Heavy Assault Battle Group to feel like a full Legion instead of one very angry boarding party, start with some heavy support, because almost everything in this box wants to be in melee and you’re going to need something that can shoot enemy armor from across the table. A Predator, Sicaran, or heavy weapons squad does a lot of work here.
After that, a Contemptor Dreadnought or another squad of Cataphractii gives you a second hammer, since six Terminators in one Land Raider is a lot of points riding in one very expensive target. But if you’re already deep into Mark III plate, the Vanguard Assault Battle Group revealed alongside it might be the box that fits your army better.
Final Thoughts on the Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group
At the end of the day, the new Legiones Astartes: Heavy Assault Battle Group looks like a box GW actually built for the people buying it. If you play Zone Mortalis, or you just like the idea of Terminators and Breachers grinding forward behind a Land Raider, this is about as close to a ready-made Heresy army as you’re going to get this holiday season.
The thing to watch now is stock. With $131 in savings on the table, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one get scooped up fast once pre-orders open, so if you want one, plan on grabbing it early instead of waiting for December.
