These new Ork Detachments rules for Armageddon: Return of Yarrick let you turbo 24 inches down the board or pile Boyz into Battlewagons for the charge.

Orks have always had a soft spot for going really fast and running over whatever’s in the way (but they might have a hard time running over the new Astra Militarum detachments). These new Ork Armageddon Detachments are custom-built for two different flavors of Speed Freek energy.

The first from GW leans into Wazdakka Gutsmek‘s new bike-boss model and wants your list moving at ridiculous speeds. The other crams Boyz into Battlewagons and keeps the wagons alive long enough to dump a horde into an enemy line.

If you play Orks and like your Warhammer 40k list built around going fast, one of these is about to become your default.

TL;DR
  • Turbo Boostas flat out at 24 inches in one straight line, no pivots or charges: the Detachment Rule trades steering for insane speed and Assault-keyword ranged weapons.
  • Kustom Shokk Box enhancement skips terrain entirely on a Deffkilla Wartrike: walls, ruins, and everything else in the way stop mattering for the turbo.
  • Wazdakka Gutsmek unlocks Warbikers as BATTLELINE inside the Speedwaaagh: the only Ork Warboss build that makes a pure-biker list actually cohere.
  • Blitz Brigade rerolls Advance and Charge for units disembarking from transports: stack it with a Waaagh! call for an automatic Advance-plus-Charge mob delivery.
  • Yooz in Trouble Now spills Orks from a hit transport straight into Engagement Range: a 1CP Stratagem that turns enemy shooting into a fast-forward charge for your Boyz.

Speedwaaagh Detachment Turns Wazdakka’s Warbikers Into a Highway to Krumptown

SpeedWAAAGH DetachementThe Speedwaaagh is the one everyone’s going to net-list first, probably. Speed Freeks and Trukks get a 24-inch straight-line charge button, and the rest of the Detachment exists to make sure the crash at the end kills something.

SpeedWAAAGH Detachement EnhancementBetween the Detachment Rule, the Enhancement, and Stratagems, Speed Freeks lists pick up every tool they need for the cross-board rush:

  • Turbo Boostas push Speed Freeks and Trukks 24 inches in a straight line: the Detachment Rule locks the unit into no pivoting and no charging that turn, but their ranged weapons pick up [ASSAULT], so you still shoot on the way in.
  • Kustom Shokk Box lets a Deffkilla Wartrike turbo horizontally through terrain: the Enhancement stops walls and ruins from breaking up your straight-line lane.
  • Ded Killy Construction gives a Speed Freeks or Trukk unit [LANCE] and plus-1 Damage on the charge: the 1CP Stratagem hits the magic number for chewing through two-wound Marines.
  • Speshul Ammo gives Orks ranged weapons [ANTI-MONSTER 4+] and [ANTI-VEHICLE 4+]: the 1CP Stratagem lets bike shootas and buggies put real damage into tanks and big monsters.

SpeedWAAAGH Detachement StratagemsThe Wazdakka angle here is the kicker. Running Wazdakka Gutsmek alongside this Detachment unlocks Warbikers as BATTLELINE, which is one of the first times in recent editions that Ork list-building has had a real rules reason to leave the foot Boyz at home and commit to an all-biker roster.

Blitz Brigade Turns Every Battlewagon Into a Boyz Delivery Truck

Blitz Brigade DetachmentThe Blitz Brigade takes the opposite approach. Drive something big at the enemy, park it, dump a mob of Boyz out the back, and let the chopping begin. The Detachment Rule and Stratagems all pull the same direction: keep your transports upright long enough to deliver the payload.

Blitz Brigade Detachment Stratagems

  • Eager for the Fight rerolls Advance and Charge for any Orks unit that disembarks: the Detachment Rule stacks with a Waaagh! for an automatic Advance-and-Charge delivery.
  • Impervious makes a Battlewagon, Kill Rig, or Hunta Rig super hard to wound: the Stratagem shrugs off tank-killer weapons so your bus survives the approach.
  • Yooz in Trouble Now lets Orks inside a hit transport disembark, and Surge at the attackers: the 1CP Stratagem even allows landing inside Engagement Range of the enemy.
  • Mount Up, Ladz lets the Orks unit climb back into the wagon at the end of Fights: so your mob doesn’t get stuck standing next to a blown-up Battlewagon with nothing to charge

Parking your Battlewagon that close means eating a turn of enemy shooting before the Boyz can disembark, sure. But these Stratagems are built to keep the bus upright long enough to deliver, so one bad save roll doesn’t wreck the whole plan.

Final Thoughts on the New Orks Detachments From Return of Yarrick

Wazdakka GutsmekThese two Detachments are good examples of what Games Workshop has been quietly doing right with faction-specific rules lately. Orks have real reasons to commit hard to one particular build style now, which is the kind of list-building decision that rewards the players already running pure-biker or Boyz-heavy rosters.
