Three new Ork detachments are here for 11th edition 40k, and the rules pull the greenskins in three completely different directions.
Rollin’ Deff, Taktikal Brigade, and More Dakka are the opening salvo of GW’s Faction Focus series, with the Orks racing to the front of the line for 11th edition. And one big thing to remember: every detachment from your current codex is still legal at launch, including the recent Speedwaaagh and Blitz Brigade pair from the Armageddon expansion.
These three set the tone for all of 11th Edition, with 70 fresh and updated detachments launching across the game, and don’t forget, you can mix multiple in one army for the first time in years.
So whether you’ve got Wazdakka Gutsmek on a base, a dream about a shelf full of new Ork vehicle models, or just a stockpile of Boyz waiting for a reason to WAAAGH!, one of these three is going to fit how you actually want to play.
- Rollin’ Deff turns Battlewagons, Hunta Rigs, and Kill Rigs into a 6-inch Advance avalanche: WAGON units re-roll charge rolls, and Brutal Broadside hands Rapid Fire to every gun in the phase.
- Taktikal Brigade lets Boyz advance or fall back AND still start an action: Pair it with Slippery Git Warbosses for Infiltrators-plus-Stealth Kommandos shenanigans.
- More Dakka puts Assault on every Orks Infantry ranged weapon: Sustained Hits 1 during the Waaagh! turns shootas into something that actually scares people.
- Dead Shiny Shootas stacks Rapid Fire on top of existing Rapid Fire weapons: Meganob kustom shootas become Rapid Fire 3 monsters.
- Call Dat Dakka? Let’s Orks shoot back during the opponent’s Shooting phase: Basically, Firing Overwatch on the wrong turn.
Rollin’ Deff Turns Ork Battlewagons Into A Rolling Avalanche

Plus, WAGON units re-roll charge rolls, which, combined with the Waaagh!’s advance-and-charge, means a deff rolla is landing more reliably now.
- Thundering Wagons (Detachment rule): Battlewagon, Hunta Rig, and Kill Rig units pick up the WAGON keyword. WAGONs re-roll charge rolls, and Advance moves are auto-6″.
- Boarding Ramps (Enhancement): Embarked units get +1 to charge rolls when they disembark from this WAGON, and since charge targets are picked AFTER the roll in 11th, that extra inch is real.
- Brutal Broadside (1 CP, Stratagem): A Battlewagon’s ranged attacks all gain RAPID FIRE X (where X is that attack’s A value) for the phase. Firing Deck guns are excluded, but the killkannon and big shootas absolutely are not.

Taktikal Brigade Finally Lets Blood Axe Orks Outsmart The Foe

Its detachment rule, Lissen ‘Ere, makes Stormboyz BATTLELINE and lets your Boyz, Kommandos, or Stormboyz advance or fall back without losing the ability to start an action that turn.
That line that just rewrote secondary scoring for Orks, since Plunder into a terrain piece is suddenly a 5 VP swing instead of a Hail Mary play. Plus, the original Grotmas version of Taktikal Brigade was already sneaky-good, and this update is sharper on every line.
- Lissen ‘Ere (Detachment rule): Stormboyz get BATTLELINE. Boyz, Kommandos, and Stormboyz can Advance or Fall Back and still start an action that turn.
- Slippery Git (Enhancement): An Infantry Warboss (no Mega Armor) picks up Infiltrators and Stealth, and can join a Kommandos unit for some real behind-enemy-lines mischief.
- Ded Sneaky (1 CP, Stratagem): At the end of your opponent’s Fight phase, an unengaged Kommandos or Stormboyz unit jumps into Strategic Reserves. Deep Strike them back in your next Movement phase, and watch the fun begin.

More Dakka Fixes The Random Ork Hit Rolls Once And For All

- Dakka! Dakka! Dakka! (Detachment rule): All Orks Infantry ranged attacks gain ASSAULT. While the Waaagh! is active in your Shooting phase, those attacks also gain SUSTAINED HITS 1.
- Dead Shiny Shootas (Enhancement): An Orks Infantry unit’s ranged attacks gain RAPID FIRE 1, OR +1 to the existing RAPID FIRE value if the gun already has it. Meganob kustom shootas become RAPID FIRE 3.
- Call Dat Dakka? (1 CP, Stratagem): When an enemy unit finishes shooting a friendly Orks Infantry unit, that Orks unit can immediately Snap Shot back at the same unit during the opponent’s Shooting phase.
Stack Dead Shiny Shootas onto Flash Gitz with snazzguns, and you’re handing out Rapid Fire on a weapon that already murders Marines.
With Snap Shooting, hitting on unmodified 6s only, with no re-rolls, means volume is the whole game here. Plus, Tankbustas with Rapid Fire rokkit launchas already love this math beacuse its essentially free shots hitting the same as they are already used to!
Final Thoughts on the New Ork Detachments for 11th Edition

Now, with 11th’s multi-detachment allowance combined with three distinct build options for Orks alone, it tells you GW is building toward a list-construction culture where two Ork lists from two different players almost don’t have to look anything alike.
That may be the most refreshing change of all to the new edition!
