Space Wolves 40k Combat Patrol Review
Say hello to the meanest 21-miniature lineup the Sons of Russ have ever packed into one box. This new Combat Patrol isn’t here to play nice, it’s here to hit hard and take names. You get three brand-new squads, with only one previous release, and all the teeth, axes, and frosty fury you’d expect from the Space Wolves.
Plus, you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, with the Space Wolves “Combat Patrol rules.”

Is it Worth It?
Of the newer CPs we’ve seen, this is decent in terms of value (especially compared to other Space Marine Chapters). Plus, you get a pretty interesting and elite force of almost all new minis (just the Wulfen are “old’). If you grab the army box as well, you would end up with a really solid starting force and almost have a full army!
How Many Points Is This?
Well, if you’re wondering about the Space Wolves Combat Patrol points? In games of Warhammer 40,000, this box is around 500 points.

What to Buy Next?
Well, you have a good mix of troops with this box, but it doesn’t force you into any one style of play. However, if you can manage to grab the Space Wolves army set as well, you will really have a great start and almost a full army (and some Grey Hunters).
But either way, you’ll need some tanks to blast the enemy from afar (and do some secondary missions), and the Space Wolves have so many cool wild units, and new character sculpts, you might as well grab them too (and help with the Wound rolls)!
Plus, no Space Wolves Primaris army would be complete without at least a few Primaris Lieutenants…
So, while this box is a great starting point, it is only 450ish points, meaning you’ll still have the vast majority of your army to collect for normal games of Warhammer 40k.
But it’s perfect for combat patrol games.
OOP 2020 Version:
The Out of Print (OOP) 2020 Space Wolf Combat Patrol box was Fenris’ little gift to new players. Released on November 11th, 2020, this set was packed to the brim with 17 models.
The box included a pretty random collection of miniatures with only a couple of Space Wolves-specific models, and was on the lower end of the value of the old boxes, but it is almost identical to the new one in terms of value (except $33 of the value is in upgrade sprues).
At a $168 price tag and an MSRP value of $215, it gave you about $63.50 in savings, assuming you actually needed everything in the box.
Models | Unit Name | Value |
10 | Intercessors | $62.50 |
5 | Reivers | $36 (Normally $62.50 for 10) |
1 | Primaris Space Wolves Lieutenant | $37 |
1 | Invictor Tactical Warsuit | $65 |
2 | Space Wolves Upgrade Sprue | $33 |

Final Thoughts From Us
So, you’re getting a lean, mean, frost-fanged force with solid value and barely any filler. It punches right into 500-point games, makes a solid core for bigger armies, and skips the usual pile of Primaris Lieutenants.
If you’ve been waiting to start a Space Wolves army or just want a no-nonsense box that actually gives you what you need, this one’s worth a serious look.
Just don’t forget to grab some tanks, a few heroes, and maybe a mug of mjød to go with it. Skål.
