This is honestly a pretty lame box compared to any other box set GW puts out. It only has 13 miniatures inside, and one of them is even a half-squad… 

Still, it assembles you a decently powerful force right out of the gate. Plus, you can even play this box with Space Marine Combat Patrol rules in those smaller Combat Patrol games.

The Best Space Marine Combat Patrols

Here are all the Space Marine Combat Patrols ranked by their value. Obviously, some are much better than others, and this box sits at the rock bottom.

Is it Worth It?

Unfortunately, the value of the Space Marines combat patrol is really just based on a little less than half the contents of the Leviathan Starter Set, minus the Ballistus Dreadnought, one extra squad of Infernus, and the Sternguard Squad. It has basically zero value.

Overall, unless you need these models because you missed out on that box release, it’s not worth buying this box as the value is far lower than the cost of this box on the secondary market. If you get all the models from Amazon, you will actually save more money than buying this box.

This Combat Patrol Box is a very sub-par release by Games Workshop.

So, you’re wondering how many points the Space Marines Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, for playing Warhammer 40,000, this box hits with about 425 points. But, as you know, games of Warhammer 40,000 are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.

What to Buy Next?

Well, considering this doesn’t have many models inside and only ten non-character models, you have a long way to go. You’ll need plenty of Intercessors, tanks, probably more Terminators, and characters. It’s hard to say what to go next, as you basically have to build out the rest of your army (and this doesn’t really save you any cash).

The only value we see in this box is picking it up if you can’t find a box of Leviathan or one of the other starters to split with someone else.

There is also something to be said about just buying the minis you think are cool and building an army around them! Don’t forget to grab the new rules for this faction and brush up on how to play them. We’ve got you covered in this article!

OOP 2020 Version:

The Out of Print (OOP) 2021 Space Marines Combat Patrol box was the Emperor’s little gift to new players. Released in 2021, this set was packed to the brim with 17 models. 

The box included a somewhat random collection of miniatures, but the value was really there. Especially compared to the new box, this looks like a dream to players. 

At a $140 price tag and an MSRP value of $300ish, it gave you about $160ish in savings (same as the old Start Collecting box) plus a discounted Impulsor.

Final Thoughts From Us

The new Space Marines Combat Patrol might not win any awards for value, but it’s still a starting point if you’re itching to field some Terminators. If saving cash is your goal, skip this box and grab the models you actually want, or check out better-value sets while they last.
