Warhammer 40k Imperial Faction Packs just landed are here for 11th Edition, bringing 21 new detachments and full rules updates across all 7 armies.
The Imperial factions close out the week-long look at how detachments and faction rules will look in 11th Edition 40k with shake-ups and the FRAME keyword landing on nearly every loyalist vehicle in the line.
Compare that to what 11th Edition looked at the Q&A reveal, and we have a pretty good idea of what to expect with this edition now.
It’s been a busy rules rollout with the Space Marines packs kicking off Monday, the Xenos packs hitting Tuesday, and the Chaos packs landing Wednesday. To finish it off Games Workshop has dropped the Imperial half, and the Munitorum Field Manual is the only piece of the launch puzzle left to reveal now.
- FRAME keyword: Nearly every Imperial vehicle on the line picks up the new FRAME tag, from Russes and Rogal Dorns to Custodes Land Raiders and the Sororitas Rhino chassis.
- Aircraft rework: Every Aircraft loses the AIRCRAFT keyword and most lose Hover. Movement and OC get set to dash, and Imperial fliers like the Corvus Blackstar and Archaeopter Transvector go to Move 14″.
- Detachments and stratagems: Each Imperial army gets three new 1-DP detachments (Agents and Titanicus excluded), and the 9″ reaction trigger shrinks to 8″ across multiple stratagems and enhancements.
How Detachment Points Work in This Imperial Faction Pack Drop
Here’s the structure Imperials (and all other factions) run on now.
- You get 2 DP at 1,000 points and 3 DP at 2,000 points, with each detachment in the pack carrying a 1, 2, or 3 DP price tag.
- That means at a 2,000-point list, you can split a 1 plus a 2, run three 1-DPs stacked into one brew, or grab a single 3-DP heavyweight like Combined Arms for the Guard or Talons of the Emperor for the Custodes, depending on the army theme or shape you want.
Every detachment also has a Force Disposition tag:
- Take and Hold, Purge the Foe, Reconnaissance, Priority Assets, or Disruption.
- Then those tags get tied to mission rewards, so picking your detachment is also picking the mission shape you want to play.
Plus, the Aircraft change is universal across every faction, with Movement and OC both set to dash, and certain dual-mode Vehicles are now locked to one form or the other.
Astra Militarum Faction Pack

- Abhuman Auxiliaries (Take and Hold, 1 DP)
- Bridgehead Strike (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
- Designation Force (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
Here are some new rules highlights for the Astra Militarum worth looking at:
- Vehicle FRAME tag: Add the FRAME keyword to nearly every Guard vehicle plus the Aegis Line. Baneblade, Banehammer, Banesword, Basilisk, Chimera, Deathstrike, Doomhammer, Hellhammer, Hellhound, Hydra, every Leman Russ variant, Manticore, every Rogal Dorn variant, Shadowsword, Stormlord, Stormsword, Taurox, Taurox Prime, Valkyrie, and Wyvern.
- Mechanised Assault, Swift Interception: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″ on the enemy unit that just ended its move.
- Recon Element, Draw Them Out: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
- Recon Element, Tanglefoot Grenades: Reworded to single out one visible enemy unit within 12″ that suffers -1 to charge rolls when it declares a charge, instead of the old auto-applied -2 to chargers.
- Militarum Tempestus Command Squad: Gains Voice of Command, loses the REGIMENT keyword.
- Ogryn Bodyguard: Cannot be WARLORD, cannot take Enhancements, gains the CHARACTER keyword.
- Tempestus Scions: Pistols and plasma pistols move to 3+ BS. Deep Strike added.
- Tempestus Aquilons: Bolt pistol to 3+ BS. Servo-sentry now triggers on Deep Strike with sentry-weapon shooting. Precision Drop must end more than 6″ horizontally from enemies with no charge that turn.
- Gaunt’s Ghosts, Covert Stealth Team: End of opponent’s turn, if not in Engagement Range, remove the unit. Redeploy more than 8″ from enemy models next Movement phase.
Adepta Sororitas Faction Pack
The Sisters of Battle patch is actually quite short once you set aside the copy-pasted 10th Edition wording. FRAME tags land on every Sororitas vehicle, four of the support characters swap into the new Support ability set, and the rest is detachment-side housekeeping.
Three new 1-DP detachments also arrived for the Adepta Sororitas:
- Chorus of Condemnation (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
- Sacred Champions (Take and Hold, 1 DP)
- Sanctified Orators (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
Here are some new rules highlights for the Adepta Sororitas that are worth looking at:
- Castigator, Exorcist, Immolator, Sororitas Rhino: Gain the FRAME keyword.
- Dialogus, Dogmata, Hospitaller, Imagifier: Removed Leader, added Support.
Adeptus Mechanicus

Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the Adeptus Mechanicus:
- Cohort Acquisitus (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
- Lords of the Forge (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
- Luminen Auto-Choir (Disruption, 1 DP)
Here are some new rules highlights for the Adeptus Mechanicus that are worth looking at:
- Skorpius Disintegrator, Skorpius Dunerider: Gain the FRAME keyword.
- Skitarii Marshal, Technoarcheologist, Cybernetica Datasmith: Removed Leader, added Support.
- Archaeopter Fusilave, Archaeopter Stratoraptor: Lost Hover. M and OC set to “-“.
- Archaeopter Transvector: Move 14″. Lost the AIRCRAFT keyword.
- Belisarius Cawl, new Aura: Now grants friendly Adeptus Mechanicus units within 6″ +1 OC and +1 to Battle-shock and Leadership tests. Move 8″, solar atomiser A3 D D6, Shroudpsalm Stealth at 6″, and the Command-phase triggers on Canticles, Invocation, and Mantra of Discipline all carry forward from 10th Edition unchanged.
- Skorpius Dunerider: Gains Firing Deck 2.
Imperial Knights Faction Pack
The Knights changes are the shortest read of the seven, which makes sense Because they were one of the most updated factions in 10th edition. The Damaged threshold and OC 10 stats that look like a buff at first glance are 10th Edition values already on the datasheets. The real change is Tactical Foil moving from 9″ to 8″, and the three new 1-DP detachments being added to the army’s options list.
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the Imperial Knights:
- Dominus Foebreakers (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
- Questor Forgepact (Disruption, 1 DP)
- Throne-bonded Outriders (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
Here are some new rules highlights for the Imperial Knights that are worth looking at:
- Valourstrike Lance, Tactical Foil: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
Adeptus Custodes Faction Pack
Honestly, the Custodes section is the one that gets thinner and thinner, the harder you look at it. The Dawneagle Toughness, Wounds, the Vertus Praetors stat block, Quicksilver Execution, Valerian’s Deep Strike, and most of the Auric Champions detachment rules are already in 10th Edition.
The real changes come down to FRAME tags, the new Shoulder the Mantle enhancement, and the universal 9″ to 8″ shrinks.
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the Adeptus Custodes:
- Might of the Moritoi (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
- Silent Hunters (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
- Tharanatoi Hammerblow (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
Here are some new rules highlights for the Adeptus Custodes that are worth looking at:
- Anathema Psykana Rhino, Shield-Captain on Dawneagle, Venerable Land Raider, Vertus Praetors: Gain the FRAME keyword.
- Auric Champions, Shoulder the Mantle (new enhancement): Pre-Reinforcements, attach an unattached Custodes CHARACTER to a friendly unit it could lead within 2″ horizontally and 5″ vertically.
- Auric Champions, Martial Philosopher: Reaction trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
- Talons of the Emperor, Taloned Pincer: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
Imperial Agents Faction Pack

While no new detachments arrived for the Imperial Agents, GW did price out all their current detachments at three points each:
No new 1-DP detachments arrived for the Imperial Agents. The army carries forward its five existing detachments (Imperialis Fleet, Ordo Hereticus Purgation Force, Ordo Malleus Daemon Hunters, Ordo Xenos Alien Hunters, and Veiled Blade Elimination Force), all at 3 DP.
Here are some new rules highlights for the Imperial Agents that are worth looking at:
- Corvus Blackstar, Imperial Rhino, Inquisitorial Chimera, Sisters of Battle Immolator: Gain the FRAME keyword.
- Corvus Blackstar: Move 14″. Loses the AIRCRAFT keyword.
- Alien Hunters, Rapid Tactical Relocation: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
- Callidus Assassin, Acrobatic Escape: Trigger range drops from 9″ to 8″.
- Callidus Assassin, Reign of Confusion: Renames the 10th Edition Lord of Deceit Aura and caps it at once per turn. Still 12″ range and still +1 CP penalty, but no longer triggers on every enemy stratagem.
- Daemon Hunters, Gift of the Prescient: 3″ range expanded to 6″.
- Vindicare Assassin, Dead Shot: Enemies lose Lone Operative while this unit is shooting, and Hidden units take a +15″ detection-range hit. (Hidden is a brand-new 11th Edition mechanic.)
- Ministorum Priest: Removed Leader, added Support.
Adeptus Titanicus Faction Pack

- Faction Pack contents: Warhound, Reaver, Warbringer Nemesis, and Warlord Titan datasheets only. Nothing changes at the rules level for Adeptus Titanicus in this drop.

Final Thoughts on the New 40k Imperial Faction Packs
Well, the Imperial drop closes the four-day Faction Pack rollout, and the Munitorum Field Manual points are really the only thing left we need to start playing, but it looks like GW is waiting until next week to drop that.
The 1-DP detachments are what will change list-building most from all this and define how 11th Edition starts off
Plus, the FRAME keyword on Imperial vehicles is the kind of edit that reshapes how anti-tank trades resolve across the entire loyalist line. So if you’ve been waiting for a Warhammer 40k Imperial rules update before committing to a list for your next event, this hopefully cleared up a lot of the confusion.
All that’s left to do is wait for the MFM, and check the Warhammer 40k 2026 roadmap for what’s coming after the 11th edition launch hits on June 20th.
