Warhammer 40k Space Marines Faction Packs just dropped for 11th Edition, bringing 21 new detachments and rules updates across the most popular chapters.
GW just released seven new Space Marine Faction Packs on Warhammer Community, and luckily for SM players, the majority of the rules stay the same, so you don’t have to learn a new edition and a ton of new unit rules at the same time.
The new rules mainly focus on the 11th Edition detachments, but there are three main changes to how your army will play on the tabletop: the new 1-DP detachments and their Detachment Point costs, the Aircraft profile rework, and the Leader-to-Support swap, plus the new FRAME keyword on Astartes transports.
Warhammer 40k 11th Edition matched play kicks off on June 20th, so you don’t have much time to learn your new rules.
This is the first official faction pack drop after the new detachments preview last month, and the difference is the costs. Today’s reveal shows off not only the new detachment costs, but all the existing ones as well, plus the universal aircraft and keyword changes
Below is the per-faction breakdown: the new 1-DP detachments first, then the real rules update and changes pulled from each Faction Pack. The wider rollout continued through the week with Xenos, Chaos, and the rest of the Imperium, all in line with the most recent 2026 40k roadmap.
How Detachment Points Work In This Space Marines Faction Packs
Updated on June 12, 2026, by Rob Baer with the latest rules updates.
- Seven PDFs, three new detachments each: Codex Space Marines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars, Deathwatch, and Grey Knights all went live with full Detachment Point cost tables and three new 1-DP detachments per chapter (Deathwatch carries one detachment).
- Aircraft profile rework: Stormhawk and Stormtalon Move and Objective Control drop to ‘-‘ (full aircraft via ingress); Stormtalon loses Hover; Stormraven loses the AIRCRAFT keyword and Move drops to 14″.
- Leader becomes Support, FRAME is new: every Ancient, every Apothecary, and most Lieutenants swap to Support; the new FRAME keyword lands on Land Raider, Land Raider Crusader, Land Raider Redeemer, Razorback, Rhino, and the three Storm-prefix flyers.

- You get 2 DP at 1,000 points and 3 DP at 2,000, with every detachment in the pack carrying a 1, 2, or 3 DP price tag.
- That means at a 2,000-point list, you can split a 1 plus a 2, run three 1-DPs stacked into one brew, or grab a single 3-DP behemoth like Wrath of the Rock or Armored Speartip, depending on the army theme or shape you want.
Every detachment also carries a Force Disposition tag:
- Take and Hold, Purge the Foe, Reconnaissance, Priority Assets, or Disruption.
- Those tags get tied to mission rewards, so picking your detachment is also picking the mission shape you want to play.
Plus, the Aircraft change is universal across every faction, with Movement and Objective Control both set to dash, and certain dual-mode Vehicles like the Stormraven are now locked into one role or the other instead of toggling between aircraft and transport.
Codex Space Marines Detachment Points
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the base Codex list:
- Fulguris Task Force (Disruption, 1 DP)
- Librarius Conclave (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
- Subversion Assets (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
The full Codex Space Marines detachment cost list is now quite long:
- 1st Company Task Force (Priority Assets, 2 DP)
- Anvil Siege Force (Take and Hold, 2 DP)
- Armored Speartip (Take and Hold, 3 DP)
- Bastion Task Force (Take and Hold, 2 DP)

Universal Space Marine Rules Updates
These are the changes every chapter inherits in 11th, now, and GW put them in all the chapter updates, but they appear the same across each one:
- Stormhawk Interceptor and Stormtalon Gunship: profile Movement and Objective Control change to dash, function as full aircraft via ingress moves. The Stormtalon also loses its Hover Core Ability (Stormhawk never had Hover, it had Interceptor).
- Stormraven Gunship: loses the AIRCRAFT keyword, Movement set to 14″, becomes a dedicated hovering transport.
- Ancients, Apothecaries, and Lieutenants: Leader replaced with Support, so they attach alongside a Captain or other Leader instead of leading the unit themselves. The Lieutenant with Combi-weapon, already a Lone Operative in 10th, stays a loner.
- FRAME keyword added to Land Raider, Land Raider Crusader, Land Raider Redeemer, Razorback, Rhino, Stormhawk Interceptor, Stormraven Gunship, and Stormtalon Gunship. FRAME is a brand-new 11th edition keyword.
Dark Angels Faction Pack: Detachments + Rules Updates
Most of the Dark Angels Faction Pack’s Rules Updates section is a verbatim republish of the existing 10th edition rules text (Company of Hunters, Inner Circle Task Force, Unforgiven Task Force, Watcher in the Dark, the Lion’s full ability list, Sammael, the Calibanite Greatsword profiles, Ravenwing Black Knights, and the Relic Teleportarium / Armor of Contempt stratagems all read the same as the current Codex).
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the First Legion:
- Dark Age Arsenal (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
- Darkflight Pursuit (Reconnaissance, 1 DP)
- Interrogation Conclave (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
Here’s what’s actually changing for the Dark Angels Faction Pack now:
- Nephilim Jetfighter and Ravenwing Dark Talon: lose Hover, function as full aircraft.
- Deathwing Terminator Squad and Deathwing Knights: Teleport Homer ingress now keeps the unit at least 8″ horizontally from enemies, down from 9″ in 10th.
- FRAME keyword added to Land Speeder Vengeance, Ravenwing Darkshroud, and Sammael.
See all the latest coverage on the Dark Angels here.
Blood Angels Faction Pack: Detachments + Rules Updates
The majority of the Blood Angels Faction Pack’s Rules Updates section is a verbatim republish of existing 10th edition text (Angelic Host restrictions, Gleaming Pinions, Death from the Skies, Descent of Angels, Driven by Fury, Visions of Heresy, Sanguinary Guard, the Sanguinor’s Miraculous Savior, and Black Rage all match the current Codex).
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the sons of Sanguinius:
- Encarmine Speartip (Disruption, 1 DP)
- Legacy of Grace (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
- Wrath of the Doomed (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
Here are the real rules changes for the Blood Angels:
- Sanguinary Priest: Leader replaced with Support.
- Baal Predator: gains the new FRAME keyword.
Space Wolves Faction Pack Detachments + Rules Updates

Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the sons of Russ:
- Champions of Fenris (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
- Legends of Saga and Song (Take and Hold, 1 DP)
- Veterans of the Fang (Disruption, 1 DP)
Black Templars Faction Pack Detachments + Rules Updates
The majority of the Black Templars Faction Pack’s Rules Updates section is a republish of existing 10th edition text (Abhor the Witch Templar vow, Heresy Begets Retribution, Purge and Sanctify, Crusader Squad’s Righteous Zeal, and the Emperor’s Champion all read the same as the current Codex; the Land Raider Crusader already carried the LAND RAIDER keyword in 10th).
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for the Crusade:
- Marshal’s Household (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
- The Living Miracle (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
- Wrathful Procession (Take and Hold, 1 DP)
Here are the real rules changes for the Black Templars:
- Castellan and Crusade Ancient: Leader replaced with Support.
- Terminator Squad: Teleport Homer ingress now keeps the unit at least 8″ horizontally from enemies, down from 9″ in 10th.
- FRAME keyword added to Gladiator Lancer, Gladiator Reaper, Gladiator Valiant, Impulsor, Land Raider Crusader, Repulsor, and Repulsor Executioner.
Deathwatch Faction Pack: Full Index Re-Release
The Deathwatch faction pack is the outlier today: instead of a detachment list plus rules updates, it ships as a full Index re-release for 11th edition. The PDF carries one detachment, the full army rule, every kill team datasheet, plus the Watch Master, Watch Captain Artemis, Corvus Blackstar, and Deathwatch Armory weapon list.
Per the pack’s own intro, the entire document is new content for this edition.
- Sole detachment: Black Spear Task Force (Priority Assets, 3 DP).
- Army rule: Kill Teams (mixed-Toughness wound resolution uses the majority Toughness in the unit, or the higher when tied).
- Mission Tactics (one per Command phase, each usable once per battle): Furor (SUSTAINED HITS 1), Malleus (LETHAL HITS), Purgatus (PRECISION on Critical Hits).
- Stratagems: Adaptive Tactics, Hellfire Rounds, Kraken Rounds, Dragonfire Rounds, Site-to-Site Teleportation, plus the standard Armor of Contempt.
- Enhancements: Thief of Secrets, Osseus Key, Beacon Angelis, The Tome of Ectoclades.
- Datasheets included: Watch Master, Watch Captain Artemis, Deathwatch Veterans, Deathwatch Terminator Squad, Corvus Blackstar, plus Talonstrike, Fortis, Indomitor, Spectrus, and Decimus Kill Teams.
Grey Knights Faction Pack: Detachments + Rules Updates
The majority of the Grey Knights Faction Pack’s Rules Updates section is a verbatim republish of existing 10th edition text (Combat Manifestation stratagem, the Eye of the Augurium enhancement, Brotherhood Chaplain’s Leader keyword, and Brotherhood Techmarine’s Guardians of the Machine all read the same as the current Codex).
Three new 1-DP detachments arrived for Titan’s sons:
- Argent Assault (Purge the Foe, 1 DP)
- Fires of Purgation (Disruption, 1 DP)
- Immaterial Interdiction (Priority Assets, 1 DP)
Here are the real rules changes from the Grey Knights Faction Pack:
- Stormhawk Interceptor and Stormtalon Gunship: profile Movement and Objective Control change to dash. The Stormtalon also loses Hover.
- Stormraven Gunship: Movement set to 14″, AIRCRAFT keyword removed.
- FRAME keyword added to Land Raider, Land Raider Crusader, Land Raider Redeemer, Razorback, Rhino, Stormhawk Interceptor, Stormraven Gunship, and Stormtalon Gunship.

Final Thoughts On The Space Marine Faction Pack Drop
As the poster boys of 40k, it only makes sense that GW would drop their faction pack first for 11th Edition.
The real news for SM players is they get 21 new 1-DP detachments across six Codex chapters, one fresh Index for Deathwatch, an Aircraft profile rework that pulls the Stormraven out of the aircraft slot and pushes the Stormtalon into a real ingress role, and the Leader-to-Support swap plus the FRAME keyword on every Land Raider chassis, Razorback, Rhino, and Storm-prefix flyer.
The new 1-DP slots are here now, making army building a bit of a strategic puzzle now. Stacking a 1-DP mini-detachment with a 2-DP or 3-DP parent is the move the edition’s been advertising for months, and now we have the full picture there.
We’ll have to watch the meta, but it should shake things up a lot with tons of new builds and ideas, before people really get a grasp on how the new edition plays. Watch what the first tournament weekend after 20 June actually starts playing once we get the overall unit points costs.
Xenos Faction Packs follow tomorrow, Chaos on Wednesday, and the rest of the Imperium on Thursday. For the larger 11th edition context that drove today’s drop, see the 11th edition Q&A that confirmed all this was coming and tournament players’ early take on the new edition.
