Here are the best and worst Warhammer 40k armies for November 15th in the latest power rankings from 10th Edition tournaments!
Thanks to Mr. Taste at Blood of Kittens, here’s a look at the latest placings and meta from the larger 10th Edition 40k tournaments last weekend!
Best & Worst Warhammer 40k Armies Through November 15th
The post dataslate meta might still be settling in, and proof of that is Chaos Space Marines’s sudden jump high above Eldar after being neck and neck last week!
This is what Mr. Taste had to say:
Notable about the Sisters of Battle’s strong showing is the involvement of high-profile players, making you wonder if there is some hidden tech that has been exploited by some of the best players? It is, however, surprising to see Space Marines perform so poorly thus far, considering their new codex and all the tricks that should make them strong in the current meta.
Last week, we saw 18 factions take the top spots, but this week, that number went to 12, which, while lower, is still decent.
The biggest winner must be CSM, as people continue to test new combinations and leaped ahead of Eldar this week.
But how about the larger meta picture overall? Well, Eldar certainly has more competition at tournaments after the balance dataslate, which makes us hopeful that the competitive scene will continue to get better, and they finally aren’t on top from the weekend…
Warhammer 40k Meta Overview from November 14th, 2023:
Statcheck.com also has us covered on the overall Warhammer 40k faction win rates and meta, compiling the data up to November 14th, 2023, post balance dataslate.
How to Read This Warhammer 40k Meta Overview Chart:
The Warhammer 40k Meta Overview Chart is color-coded for the most part. Grey is the sweet spot; ideally, every faction would be light grey or between a 45% and 55% win rate.
Blue is overpowered, and in contrast, Oranges are underpowered. Essentially, the darker shades are too far gone and need changes or shifts in the Meta. That’s not to say every darker blue and orange faction needs balance changes, but it DOES mean something needs to be done.
Game balance and meta are super complex, with each faction (and general’s ability) being its own cogs in the bigger picture.
Simply put, the most played faction in any competitive game should never be the most winning faction. As the popularity of a faction goes up, the skill, specified knowledge, and experience of the average player in that faction go down (new players moving to it).
What’s New With Competitive Warhammer 40k This Week?
Leagues of Votann and Tau might be the two biggest benefactors of the Dataslate, as they both went from abysmal win rates to higher than 50% (Tau dropped but is slowly climbing again, now at 50%)! But this week, Chaos Space Marines easily takes the cake!
CSM finally beat out Eldar in pretty much every stat! Either way, it is an excellent time to play Chaos and Xenos in 40k.
Drukhari also improved quite a bit and is among the highest of the “fair” armies (between 45%-55% WR). All the other NERFs seem to have had the intended purpose, except the ones for both Custodes and Knights, as they are now the lowest win rates in the game. (which GW mentions in their Oct 19th Metawatch update.)
Either way, there are still a couple of outliers, but most armies are resting in that 45%-55% zone where GW tries to keep the armies.
