GW’s Sunday Preview revealed the new Warhammer 40k Adeptus Custodes Codex, Aquilon Terminators, and more hitting pre-order this Saturday.
Orks were up first, then Space Marines, and now the golden boys are up in the 11th Edition codex line. GW revealed the full Adeptus Custodes wave today, and most of these models should look pretty familiar if you caught the Big Autumn Preview.
You can see what GW’s doing here too. Every new kit works in both 40k and the Horus Heresy, so one sculpt covers two games, and Custodes players finally get rules for all the stuff they may already have sitting on the shelf.
Here’s everything hitting pre-order this Saturday, along with our thoughts on the products.
Warhammer 40k Pre-Order: New Releases
All these new Adeptus Custodes pre-orders are available to order on Saturday, October 3, around 1 p.m. EST in the States, with a street date of Saturday, October 17, for store shelves.

Aquilon Terminator Sodality
You get six Aquilon Terminators in the box, and Custodes players have been waiting on this kit since the autumn preview. Each Terminator gets a Lastrum storm bolter, infernus firepike, or adrathic combi-destructor, paired with either a solarite power gauntlet or solarite power talon.
That’s a lot of weapon options for one squad. Want them cracking elite infantry? You can do that. Need them clearing chaff instead? That works too. They also work in both 40k and 30k. We also already know from the leaked stats that Aquilon Terminators hit T8 W6 in the new Custodes Codex, so yeah, expect to see these walking straight up the middle of plenty of tables.
Aquilon Terminator Sodality Hobby Tips
Magnetize those ranged arms before locking yourself into one loadout. Paint the gold armor plates separately from the cloth and fur, and leave the heads until the end so you can still get a brush around the neck trim.
Gyrfalcon Jetbike Sodality
There are two jetbikes in the box, and each rider carries a solarite power lance. The bike is where you get choices: Lastrum bolt cannon for Marines, adrathic devastator for monsters, arachnus volley cannon for hordes, or twin Corvae las-pulser for vehicles.
Four weapon options on a two-bike kit is kind of wild. If you want these doing more than one job, yeah, you’re probably buying more than one box, or magnetize them with the new kits from Magnet Baron. The Journal Tactica farther down also updates the Gyrfalcon sodality rules for Heresy, so these are clearly meant to get table time in both games.
Gyrfalcon Jetbike Sodality Hobby Tips
Pin the rider to the saddle before you glue everything together. Leave the flight stands off until you’re done painting, unless you enjoy wrestling around it every time you need to reach the underside.
Telemon Heavy Dreadnought
Now we’re talking about the big boy. The Telemon comes with a pile of cosmetic options, and one of its Telemon caestus fists can be swapped for an adrathic desolator, arachnus storm cannon, or Iliastus accelerator culverin. Be sure to pick up the magnetization kit from Magnet Baron, so you don’t have to choose which weapon to glue.
Since you’re only swapping one fist, it still hits plenty hard once something gets close. If you paid Forge World resin money for one of these a few years ago, this plastic kit probably hurts a little.
Telemon Heavy Dreadnought Hobby Tips
Build the torso, legs, and arms as separate subassemblies. A warm brown undercoat beneath the gold with the new Warhammer Tone Pro paints will keep those recesses dark without making you shade every little area afterward.
Pallas Grav-Attack
If the Telemon is your hammer, the Pallas is more about getting in, hitting something, and moving on. GW’s basically saying this is what you reach for when the jetbikes aren’t getting there fast enough. It carries either a twin Arachnus Blaze Cannon or a twin Iliastus Accelerator Fusil.
Custodes aren’t exactly swimming in bodies, with the Adeptus Custodes Codex rules update, so having a fast gun platform that can scoot over to a flank is pretty handy.
Pallas Grav-Attack Hobby Tips
Don’t glue the gun mount if you want the option to swap weapons later. Paint the hull and crew separately, then give the exhausts a light metal drybrush if you want a bit of heat wear.

All of these boxes aren’t new sculpts. They’re recent Heresy kits getting new packaging that makes their 40k status official: the Shield-Captain, Custodian Guard Sodality, Sentinel Guard Sodality, Venatari Sodality, Custodian Dreadnought, Caladius Grav-Tank, Caladius Annihilator Grav-Tank, and Coronus Grav-Carrier.
Adeptus Custodes Codex
This is the book all of this is really built around. It has 13 new detachments and 27 datasheets, including the Telemon, Pallas, and Aquilons, along with the usual lore and artwork. We’ve already looked at how the Adeptus Custodes Codex triples Ka’tahs and frees up actions, and yeah, that changes how the army plays quite a bit.
There are three versions. The standard softback comes in a rigid slipcase, while the Collector’s Edition steps up to a hardback with a foil-embossed cover, ribbon marker, and printed page edges.
Then there’s the Limited Edition, which is where GW really piles it on, and the one that made Collectors so mad with its $420 codex price.
That one comes with a gilded faux leather cover, metal Custodian vexilla miniature, lapel pin, 10 dice in a hinged wooden dice vault, six art prints, an A2 cloth map of the Imperial Palace, and the full Command Pack. The Collector’s and Limited Editions are both while stocks last, so anyone chasing one will want to be around at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Adeptus Custodes Command Pack and Dice
The Command Pack comes with 84 reference cards and two sheets of pop-out tokens, including trackers for which champions are ready to use their Martial Ka’tah army rule. With three times as many Ka’tahs to keep track of, those tokens might actually get used for once.
Speaking of dice, the set has 16 black dice with gold pips and the faction logo replacing the six. Both the dice and Command Pack are also available while stocks last.
Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol
The new Combat Patrol moves away from the old Blade Champion and Allarus mix. Inside, you get a Shield-Captain, six Sentinel Guard, three Venatari, and a Custodian Dreadnought that can be built as either a Contemptor-Achillus or Contemptor-Galatus.
If you’re starting Custodes, you’ve got a character, your infantry, some jump troops, and a walker all in one box. For an elite army, that’s pretty close to opening the box and having something useful to play. We’d guess this box will bring a lot of new players into the faction this fall.
Warhammer Horus Heresy: New Pre-Order Releases
New pre-orders are here for The Horus Heresy Age of Darkness, and 30k players have a fair bit to chew on this week.
Journal Tactica: Assault on Kol
All those Custodes kits above also work in 30k, and this book gives Heresy players somewhere to use them. The story covers the Legio Custodes’ forgotten war on Kol against cultists, Traitors, and daemons.
On the rules side, there’s new stuff for the Slaanesh daemonic legions, a Legendary Mission built around disgraced Shield-Captain Medraut’s attack on Kol’s hive city, two new Custodian Proconsul units, and updated Gyrfalcon Jetbike sodality rules.
White Dwarf Magazine: New Monthly Pre-Order
The latest White Dwarf is up for pre-order too, with the usual lore, miniature spotlights, and hobby stuff.
White Dwarf Issue 529
It’s the Halloween Special, led by a Skaven vs Gloomspite Gitz trick-or-treat Battle Report and a Halloween hobby gallery. King Brodd and the Beast-smasher Mega-Gargant also pick up new rules for Brawlers of Behemat, while the Orks get several hobby guides and tactics articles.
Black Library: New Pre-Order Releases
The latest Black Library pre-order titles are here, with far-future battles, strange quests, and the usual pile of problems nobody in the Imperium is remotely qualified to solve.
Cold Covenant
Cold Covenant follows the 27th Halgarth Brine Dogs as they finally ship out from Oblazt, a backwater controlled by a corrupt aristocracy. Meanwhile, three veterans and an enginseer are planning to desert, only to discover the planet’s ghosts aren’t interested in letting them leave quietly.
The regular hardback arrives with this week’s other releases. The signed Special Edition is doing its own thing, though. It has a foil cover, red ribbon marker, and red page edges, and goes up at 3 p.m. UK time on October 7, 2026, while stocks last, so that’s one you’ll need a separate alarm for.
Auxilia, Dropsite Massacre, and Apostle Paperbacks
Auxilia is a new Astra Militarum novel from Russell Zimmerman, and it’s going straight to paperback. Castellan-Colonel Roane gets stuck trying to beat a ragtag abhuman auxilia into Cadian shape while a commissar who hates the lot of them watches every move he makes.
Dropsite Massacre by John French and Apostle by David Annandale are also getting new paperback editions, so if you skipped the hardbacks, these are easy enough to grab now.
Final Thoughts on the New Custodes Pre-Orders
If you’ve been waiting for more Custodes to move into plastic and get proper support in both games, this is a pretty big week. You’ve got new kits, new boxes for the Heresy stuff, the codex, a Combat Patrol, and more Heresy support all landing together.
Now that Custodes come after Orks and Space Marines in the 11th Edition codex roadmap. We’d guess the next codex tease won’t be too far behind this one, so keep an eye on Warhammer Community after the Space Marines release this Saturday.
