Combat Patrol: Necrons is a crack squad of metal warriors hell-bent on freezing the galaxy in time. It’s packed with 10 Necron Warriors, three Skorpekh Destroyers, a towering Canoptek Doomstalker, and three buzzing Canoptek Scarab Swarms. Leading this relentless crew is none other than the indomitable Necron Overlord, Amonhotekh. Ready for a cosmic showdown? They sure are.

Necrons 40k Combat Patrol Combat Patrol Review
If you’re aiming to add some flair to your Nerons army, the new Combat Patrol box is a decent way to do it (this has very low value compared to the other ones). With a strong lineup of miniatures ready to rain down chaos on the battlefield, you really can’t go wrong here.
In most cases, it’s like assembling an all-star team right out of the gate, plus you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, aptly called “Combat Patrol” (get the rules here.)

Is it Worth It?
Honestly… no. The only thing you get for “free” is the Overlord, which isn’t even a totally new mini but is finally available on its own. So, there isn’t even the value of getting a hard-to-find mini.
Realistically, you’d probably be better off just buying what models you want and not a collection that GW has chosen for you. This is one of the lowest values we’ve ever seen in a Combat Patrol, and we would recommend trying to find the Indomitus starter from the secondary market; any of the Christmas Battleforces, or even the old CP Box is a better value.
How Many Points is it?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Necrons Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 420 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to retake your empire, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

What to Buy Next?
Honestly, it’s hard to say, as this doesn’t have many minis or value. You are still more or less at the starting point for an army and can take it any way you want, whether you want to go the route with way more Destroyers or tons of Warriors and Immortals.
While it might not have the highest value, the Necrons Combat Patrol still offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the Necrons faction.
OOP 2021 Version:
The Out of Print (OOP) 2021 Necrons Combat Patrol box was Fenris’ little gift to new players. Released in May 2021, this set was packed to the brim with 15 models.
The box included a pretty random collection of miniatures, and like all the boxes from them, it had the flying croissant included!
At a $168 price tag and an MSRP value of $260, it gave you about $92 in savings, assuming you actually needed everything in the box.

Final Thoughts For This Box
As we wrap up our look at the new Necrons Combat Patrol, we can’t help but feel that it’s quite lackluster. It has possibly the lowest value in a CP we’ve ever seen, and not that many models overall.
Sure, it’s not the absolute cheapest deal on the market, but it does give you a way to save some cash and get a force on the board quickly.
