New Space Marines for 11th edition 40k are on the way in the Armageddon launch box; here’s all the confirmed and rumored minis so far.
Games Workshop is clearly lining up the poster boys of Warhammer 40k for another big edition launch, and Space Marine players have plenty of reasons to expect a giant swath of new minis.
Between the Space Marines vs Orks in the starter set, the first look at the confirmed Intercessor refresh, and the usual multipart plastic kits that tend to follow major edition launches, this is looking like the start of a pretty chunky wave of new Marines.
Here’s what we know so far about the new 11th Edition Space Marine models and the rumors still floating around.
New Space Marine Models for 11th Edition Are Looking Good!
Updated on May 2, 2026, by Rob Baer with the full contents of the new Armageddon box set unboxed!
If you haven’t heard yet, Games Workshop looks set to drop a pretty serious batch of new Space Marine models as they square off against the Orks in the 11th edition starter set.
Best of all, there are a few familiar patterns that we expect GW to stick with here. First, starter set minis are usually push-fit or ETB, which means easy-to-build kits designed to get new players building, painting, and playing fast.
That’s good news for beginners, but it’s also great for veteran players who just want the new hotness without turning every squad into a full hobby side quest.
Second, this doesn’t sound like a one-wave situation. So far, GW has only officially shown a couple of refreshed Intercessors, but the rumor list behind them is already getting pretty crowded. The overall vibe sounds fast and heavy, with Marines built to get across the table, hit hard, and generally ruin somebody else’s plans in a very expensive-looking way.
That means the whole release is starting to feel like a proper edition-launch Marine wave, with multiple chances for players to grab what they want instead of fighting through one giant pre-order.
When Are the New Space Marine Minis on the Way?
The Space Marine release schedule appears to span two main timeframes.
The first wave of Marines will drop with the Space Marines vs Orks 11th edition starter box in June 2026, with the usual push-fit or easy-to-build treatment that Games Workshop tends to use for starter products.
And then, after the launch box has been out for a while, all the multipart models are usually released in September or October, once the edition-change dust starts to settle. Lastly, GW also releases starter sets based on the launch box with the same new minis to grab, but those are usually still ETB.
Multiple Starter Sets Could Give Space Marine Players More Buying Options
If Games Workshop follows the same pattern it used with Leviathan, the big 11th edition launch box probably will not be the only way to get these new Space Marine models. After the main release, GW usually breaks starter content down into smaller products like the Starter Set, Ultimate Starter Set, and Introductory Set.
That’s important because not every Space Marine player wants a giant two-army box stuffed with Orks they may never touch. Some people will just want the new Marines. Others will want a cheaper way to grab a few of the fresh sculpts without committing to the full launch set.
So while the big 11th edition launch box will probably get the spotlight, the real long-term story may be accessibility. If the current pattern holds, Space Marine players should have several ways to pick up these 11th edition miniatures later on, which is a lot better than feeling forced into one expensive launch purchase.
All the New Space Marines for 11th Edition Armageddon
- Overall theme: Marines skew fast and heavy, with a “hit you in the teeth” launch style.
- Captain with Relic Shield: box-cover model, sword + shield loadout, three head options (confirmed).
- Intercessors refresh: mixed-mark armor, 10 in the box (confirmed).
- Eradicators with Heavy Bolters: Gravis horde-killer with Sustained Hits + Heavy + Blast (confirmed).
- Land Speeder: onslaught gatling, heavy flamer, multi-melta, Storm Fury missiles, Purgation Run move (confirmed).
The Marine side got a little confirmation at AdeptiCon, but not much more than a teaser. GW showed off one of the new Intercessors, and the big story was not some major battlefield shake-up; it was the updated look, mixing the newer Primaris silhouette with older armor details for a very deliberate nostalgia play.
Since then, we have seen more models revealed, with more on the way, as we approach the release date of the Armageddon box in June 2026.
Every Confirmed Space Marine Reveal in the Armageddon Box
New Captain with Relic Shield (Confirmed)
The new Captain is the model front and center on the Armageddon box art, and his loadout is built specifically to chop through Orks.
The model itself has three head options: a bare head, an Mk X helm with a large crest, or an Mk VII helmet for that classic Marine silhouette.
Of course, the paint scheme on the box art is also a nod to the 2nd edition Marines vs Orks cover, which longtime Marine collectors will spot right away.
New Librarian (Confirmed)
The Librarian is one of those classic kits that finally got its long-overdue glow-up for 11th edition. The new sculpt has armor inscribed with the same blessed wards and arcane scriptwork you’d expect on a Terminator Librarian, which makes him feel a lot more like a proper psyker and less like a Tactical Marine cosplaying with a force staff.
The Librarian and Weirdboy models from the box can also make a duel diorama
Like the Captain, he comes with multiple head options for painters who want to show some skin or keep things grim with a fully helmeted look.
New Ancient with Armageddon Banner (Confirmed)
The Ancient carries the Armageddon campaign banner, and yes, the word “Armageddon” is literally sculpted into the standard. That’s a fun detail for anyone painting the model up for Operation Imperator, but the banner’s real selling point is the giant flat area for transfers or freehand work.
You can throw on Blood Angels iconography, an Ultramarines stamp, Salamanders detailing, Space Wolves runes, White Scars markings, or whatever Chapter you’re running.
New Eradicators with Heavy Bolters (Confirmed)
The classic melta-rifle Eradicator squad finally gets a new flavor in 11th edition, with heavy bolters in Gravis armor replacing the usual tank-hunting loadout. With Heavy Bolters, the new Eradicators are built to mulch hordes of Ork Boyz, while the same Toughness 6 with three wounds Gravis chassis means they can soak return fire and keep grinding.
New Land Speeder (Confirmed)
The new Land Speeder refresh keeps the speed profile that’s defined the kit since the 90s, but the loadout is way more flexible. The base setup is an onslaught gatling cannon for tearing through infantry, with the option to swap it for a heavy flamer to blanket Ork mobs in promethium.

If you ask us, the new Land Speeder is an easy contender for one of the best new kits in the Armageddon launch box.
New Chaplain with Jump Pack (Confirmed)
From the launch trailer animation
This new Chaplain miniature packs all the classic gear you’d want, with the skull helm, rosarius, and crozius arcanum all front and center, and it keeps that newer jump pack look without the old flying stand setup. On the tabletop, GW wants you to run him with Vanguard Veterans, bringing extra punch with +1 to wound and fitting that fast assault role perfectly.
The model is loaded with purity seals, a huge tome, and plenty of grim 40k style, but the best part is that it’s not locked to one Chapter. He looks right at home as a Blood Angel, but you can paint him up for anything from Raven Guard to Salamanders without it feeling out of place.
New Vanguard Veterans (Confirmed)
Games Workshop finally showed off Blood Angels Vanguard Veterans (but will be chapter agnostic in the actual box; this is just the paint scheme) straight into the meat grinder, and honestly, it was about time after about a full year of rumors.
These guys have always had a spot on the tabletop, but this rework gives the classic unit a much sharper look, now rocking the same punchy jump packs as the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs. They’re also loaded up with master-crafted weapons, plasma pistols, and enough extra iconography and Crux Terminatus bling to make it crystal clear they’re not just random line officers.
Vanguard Veterans getting refreshed has felt overdue for ages, so while their showing up in the big launch box isn’t exactly shocking, it is still nice to finally see the new model out in the open.
New Space Marines Intercessor (Confirmed)
The new Intercessor was the first Space Marine officially confirmed for the new starter set, and it looks like a lot of those rumors were on the money.
These guys are not stuck in the old Primaris versus Firstborn split anymore, either, as years of nonstop war have pushed Tacticus armor into more of a patched-together battlefield look, with older helmets, shoulder pads, and greaves mixed in for a bunch of great throwback details that longtime Marine fans will spot right away.
New 11th Edition Space Marines Rules Preview
The Space Marines are getting their own half of the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon box, but, unlike the Orks, Games Workshop didn’t mention how many points the Adeptus Astartes side will clock in at.
The big Space Marine rules theme here is reliability, because the Marines are getting strong character buffs, durable infantry, and weapons that hit hard without needing much babysitting. New Eradicator rules make them infantry threats now as well. Vanguard Veterans are also ready to bully things on the charge, and the characters all bring classic Space Marine buffs, to make every unit a little harder to kill or a lot nastier in combat.
- Eradicators: Each model gets three shots at all times, with Sustained Hits and Heavy baked in. If they target something that isn’t a Vehicle or Monster, they also get Blast, which means they’re not just monster and armor hunters anymore. They’re also sitting at Toughness six with three wounds each, so dealing with them won’t be easy.
- Vanguard Veterans: They’re armed with master-crafted power weapons and heavy bolt pistols, and they get Lethal Hits on the charge.
- Ancient: He increases that unit’s Objective Control, helping Marines stick the landing on key points. He also gets a 4+ Feel No Pain while on an objective, but that durability boost is for the Ancient himself, not the whole unit.
- Chaplain: The Chaplain gives his unit +1 to wound in melee. He also dishes out a bunch of mortal wounds in combat, though the exact mechanic wasn’t fully spelled out.
- Librarian: The Librarian hands out an invulnerable save to the unit he joins against all attacks, giving Marines a big defensive boost against nasty weapons. He also gives them a Feel No Pain against Psychic attacks.
- Captain: The Captain lets you use Stratagems for one less CP, which is always useful in an edition where command points are basically liquid gold. His Finest Hour ability gives him a pile of extra attacks and Devastating Wounds, turning him into a short-term blender when it’s time to make a heroic mess.
- New Land Speeder: The new Land Speeder brings two Storm Fury missiles, which sound like they’re basically Krak missiles, plus multi-meltas for cracking tougher targets. It can also swap in heavy flamers to replace the gatling cannon, giving it some nasty close-range anti-infantry options. Its Purgation Run ability lets it shoot and then move another D6 inches.
Final Thoughts on the New Space Marines for 11th Edition
Overall, the new Space Marines for 11th edition look like they’re hitting that sweet spot between easy entry, strong visual character, and plenty of hobby appeal. The starter-set angle also points to more easy-to-build plastic on the way, which should make it easier for both new players and longtime Marine collectors to add fresh models with less hassle.
The likely follow-up starter products also mean these minis should be easier to grab later, even if you skip the big launch box up front. As more reveals roll out through the fall, the bigger picture on the 11th edition Space Marine range should start to come together.
