Here’s your guide to all the unsolved or unrevealed Warhammer Rumor Engine previews from Games Workshop for 40k, AoS, and more.
Updated on June 17th, 2025, by Rob Baer with the latest teaser, new reveals, and leaks!
Few things generate as much excitement and speculation as the cryptic Warhammer 40k Rumor Engine teasers released by Games Workshop.
So, let’s put our speculation hats on and examine the latest Rumor Engine reveals from Games Workshop and explore the miniatures that still remain shrouded in mystery.
Recent Preview Reveals:
TONS of Warhammer rumor engine were recently solved with new models that snuck in via a teaser in AoS, along with other recent Knight reveals in 40k.
Even though the following rumor engines have already been solved, there are still plenty of exciting possibilities in the following section for new Warhammer models that we anticipate seeing previews in the near future.
March 18th, 2025: Teased May 20th, 2025
The water was a bit spot on for this one, which made it the only engine we placed from this set of teased models!
March 26th 2024: Teased May 20th, 2025
While this wasn’t a new Rat Man, it was teased on a new Idoneth character’s staff.
January 16th, 2024: Teased May 20th, 2025
We haven’t got the full model reveal for this yet, but you can see the bit on a new Idoneth character floating atop some water effects.
April 29th, 2025: Revealed May 12th, 2025
No hovercraft, sadly, but we did catch that Chaos trim, which at least got us on the right faction.
April 1st, 2025: Revealed May 12th, 2025
Well, it doesn’t get more ‘Chaos’ than that bit, and we placed it easy-peasy!
March 25th, 2025: Revealed May 12th, 2025
This bit was clearly a mining tool, and we still think it is, just that it’s on a Chaos Knight and used for killing things, not mining…
April 22nd, 2025: Revealed May 5th, 2025
Well, we were spot on with the Imperium/Ad Mech call, as knights are pretty much the exact intersection of those factions!
July 23rd, 2024: Revealed April 21st, 2025
We didn’t quite get this placement right, but seeing it now, it’s not too surprising!
All the Unsolved GW Warhammer 40k Rumour Engine Previews
Despite the recent reveals by Games Workshop, all of these Warhammer Rumor Engine teasers have yet to be identified. Regardless, the community is abuzz with speculation, with countless theories circulating about the identities of these elusive miniatures. Here are the remaining Rumor Engine teasers that have yet to be unveiled by Games Workshop.
Unsolved From 2025:
June 17th, 2025: Stunned & Concussed
This rumor engine looks like a new electric melee weapon. The first comparisons that come to mind are Electropriests for Ad Mech, Arbites, or Palatine Enforcers. Still, though, this bit is pretty generic, so it’s hard to nail down for sure.
We can at least say this tech isn’t going near Age of Sigmar or the Old World.
June 10th, 2025: New Terrain
This rumor engine really looks like a new piece of terrain or part of a base, featuring metal bits, along with stone, and possibly dirt or some gas or fire. We expect this to be more likely a terrain piece because it appears larger than the base pieces, but there’s really no telling, and both are possible.
June 3rd, 2025: Wolverine’s Claws
This rumor engine really looks like a set of claws straight from Wolverine comics, but GW has had a few extreme surprises with these in the past, so it may not be so simple! We expect this to be in Grand Alliance Death for AoS, but a wild 40k mini or a specialist release are both possible.
May 27th, 2025: Rumor Engine Protec
This rumor engine really looks like a power shield, but GW has had a few extreme surprises with these in the past, so expect the unexpected! We can’t quite do that, but another possibility we see is a component of a vehicle, such as a shield generator or armor plate.
One thing is certain: this is either 40k or a specialist game.
May 20th, 2025: Put a Fork In It
This rumor engine fork-looking poker looks fairly Kruleboyz-like, but that’s a hunch, and it could really be nearly anything! That being said, a Death bone, an Order metal bit, or a Destruction poker are all fairly possible!
As for 40k, we don’t see the vision, but the bit certainly is simple enough, especially for something like Kroot.
May 13th, 2025: 40k Bat-Signal
This very boxy-looking gadget with an antenna for signals screams Adeptus Mechanicus, especially with the coils around the left antenna! That being said, anything Imperium could fit the bill here, and don’t ever discount a curveball specialist mini!
May 6th, 2025: A Based Foot
The latest rumor engine is a pretty obvious foot, but it has lots of possible placements. One very clear thing is that it is an armored foot with cloth/fabric socks or pants, which is not too common in Space Marines. Maybe Leagues of Votann, Adeptus Mechanicus, or Necromunda?
April 15th, 2025: Enlightenment Reached
The latest rumor engine is very clearly a skull with an eye-shaped hole in the forehead hello navigator? It is also clearly a humanoid skull, meaning a model honoring Navigators (Navis Nobiltes) or an off-the-wall Necromunda mini is most likely.
April 8th, 2025: Drones Dropping In
The latest rumor engine is very clearly an RC controller or heartbeat sensor of some kind. There are also clear humanoid hands, looking pretty stocky, so Votann and standard Humans are most likely, no Eldar, Orcs, or Chaos.
March 11th, 2025: The “Unsolvable” One
Games Workshop seems to think this is “unsolvable” according to their post.
After last week’s easy win, you’re probably expecting today’s Rumour Engine to be a real brain-scratcher, and you’d be right. There’s no possible way you can guess what this is.
In fact, we’re willing to stake all of our Rumour Engineers’ jobs on stumping you this week, so if you want to have a crack at putting half a dozen people out of work, tell us what you think it is
However, we think the newest rumor engine looks like a rope structure or maybe a super zoomed-in basket. In any case, it looks homemade and not very industrial, making our most likely bet in the world of AoS, The Old World, or an off-shoot specialist model.
March 4th, 2025: Hot Fire Warhammer
The newest rumor engine looks like a flame, or maybe some wispy smoke or gases. In any case, there are endless possibilities here, but a recent model that comes to mind was the Orruk manifestations.
February 18th, 2025: BRAINS…!
The newest image clearly shows a spear and a humanoid’s brain, making Ogres and Flesh-eaters in AoS the two big options. If it is not a nasty monster snacking down, there are many possibilities for more unique systems, like Warcry or another specialist game!
February 11th, 2025: This Rumor Engine is the GOAT!
The newest image clearly shows an animal leg, making Beastmen in AoS and Chaos in 40k the two big options. From horses in general, there are many possibilities for more unique systems, like Necromunda or another specialist game!
January 28th, 2025: Throw The Book At Them
The newest image is clearly a humanoid holding a pretty vanilla book, and Inquisition is the perfect fit for something so hipster in 40k. Otherwise, a ton of possibilities are in The Old World and even humans in Age of Sigmar or specialist games!
January 21st, 2025: New Throwing Spear
This rumor engine is clearly a trident, and Deepkin has plenty of models with similar weapons. That makes new characters, troops, or even an exclusive mini all on the table!
That being said, other factions are still possible, like Dark Eldar (Drukhari), Alpha Legion, even some seafaring Dark Aelves in the Old World, or off-the-wall releases like Kill Team, Warcry, and the like.
Unsolved From 2024:
November 26th, 2024: Jet Fuel Can Melt Plastic
This (jet) engine can only really be a vehicle, in theory, but there are a few games and factions that are possible, and while “Imperium” seems like the easy pick, there are some fun options like Orks and even Necromunda miniatures that are possible, too! But upon closer inspection…
That right there is a grav-plate! The “roll bar” kinda looks like what can be found on Votann buggies, but grav-plates (currently) are a very Space Marine thing!
If we check out this Repulsor, the engine, along with the plates are a near match, making some sort of primaris hover-craft or even a Jetbike very likely!
Speaking of jetbikes, maybe Games Workshop goes wild and brings back the Primarch Khan himself on Voidbike or releases a primaris Kosorro on Moondraken. Still, though… who knows?
November 19th, 2024: A Primarch Preview
This engine can only really be a spear or a staff at an odd orientation, but the sharp edge definitely makes us lean heavily towards spears, and while Eldar and Aelves are possible, the clearest choice seems to be Necrons! But it is giving off some Alpha Legion vibes as well.
Is this the “Pale Spear” to a new Alpharius that would be the third new model in the revamped Forge World character series that they said would represent the primarchs at the height of the heresy? There are some similarities between the rumor engine weapon and the existing model’s above.
Rumor is that Alpharius’s Pale Spear dates back to before the first Aeldari appeared, and the Necrons have a similar weapon called the Hyperphase Blade.
Speaking of Necrons, they have a few older models that could go for a pick-me-up or even a brand-new guard or royalty-style model! However, the bit looks bone-like, which would be interesting for a new Necron…
November 12th, 2024: Expect New Inquisition
This engine is very clearly an Inquisition servitor, thanks to that big ‘ol I on the skull. That being said it could be Deathwatch, a new Inquisitor, or even a curveball like Necromunda or Rogue Trader!
November 5th, 2024: More New Chaos
This engine is super simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy placement. Two main possibilities came to mind: Chaos in 40k, like Night Lords and Death. Chaos in both AoS and 40k could easily have this bit, but we’ve also seen similar armor in Death for AoS as well!
October 29th, 2024: Magic 40k Crystal Ball
This engine is quite a bit tougher than recent ones, but at least we know it’s more than likely to be in the 40k range. The lack of iconography and distinct designs like Ork metal or Drukhari and Chaos spikey bits, make the most likely candidate Imperium/Space Marines!
October 22nd, 2024: Orks Going Down To Bullet Town
Looking at this bit, it is clearly a magazine with rounds in it, and the minimal housing gives it a very ork-y feel. That being said, we can’t currently find a perfect match. Plus, it does look pretty clean, so maybe a curveball reveal is incoming. On the other hand, what’s an Orktober without an Ork teaser?
October 15th, 2024: Necron Lazer Beam Generators
Looking at this bit, it seems like some Necron energy, and the angular housing adds to that feel, too. That being said, Orks have some wild technology and Seraphon has also had models with a similar energy effect.
October 1st, 2024: Warhammer Gold Digger
Looking at this bit, it is very clearly a new rock drill of some kind! As for which faction and game system it goes with, that’s much more open-ended but pretty guaranteed to be in Warhammer 40k or a specialist game. Leagues of Votann are the most likely faction, so that’s a safe bet!
September 24th, 2024: Spittin’ Hot Fire
Looking at this bit, it is very clearly a muzzle on a new flamethrower primed and ready to spit flames! As for which faction and game system it goes with, that’s much more open-ended, and pretty much anything goes. The faction most known for flamers is Sisters of Battle, so that’s a safe bet!
September 10th, 2024: Hot Fire New Weapon
Looking at this bit, it is very clearly a bladed weapon with ridges that seem to imitate fire! Two options that immediately came to mind are Orks and Necromunda, where gangs make do with what they can!
August 27th, 2024: 40k BERSERK Sword?
Looking at this bit, it is very clearly a sword, one with interestingly sharp angles… While we might like to see a giant sword like the one from BERSERK, but it’s almost like a usually-sized one for Eldar, Necrons, or a new Judiciar-style model! Of course, as with anything, off-the-wall specialist game warbands might sneak in too!
August 20th, 2024: New 40k Boomstick
Looking at this bit, it’s a bit odd, but most of the options are in 40k! This can be a new Votann, or Ad Mech most likely, but a curveball like Necromunda or Kill Team is also possible!
August 6th, 2024: Bucket Load of Skulls
Looking at this bit it’s pretty clear what it is, but that doesn’t help place it! This is a super generic one, making it hard to pinpoint. It seems to fit best for Death in AoS, but really it could be any faction, and even 40k too!
July 16th, 2024: GW’s 3D Printer
Looking at this bit, we remembered the Fortress of Redemption! So this rumor engine is a near match to that, just in hologram or super tiny 3d printed model form. It could also be a backlit image like a movie theater.
March 19th 2024: Freshly Wetted Blade
Here’s the latest GW Warhammer Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. As usual, there are some interesting possibilities for what it could be!
Looking at this bit, we can see a well-crafted blade with some liquid on it, the two most likely being blood or poison. That means Vampires, Chaos, Aelves, and Skaven in AoS or The Old World are all likely here!
January 9th, 2024: Pokemon Charmander Cross Over
Looking at this engine right away, we chuckled because it looks like Charmander’s tail! But seeing as copyright exists, this is probably a plant on a base like Catachan or a model like Sylvaneth
Unsolved Advent Engines From 2023:
While we hope no one wants this for Christmas, the Skaven sure does like this sort of thing! Blue Scribes would fit Chaos Daemons well, but poison is always more of Nurgle’s speed. Of course, it could be a symbol for just death, making some spooky boys under Nagash another possibility.
Day 19: Nurgle Spice Rack of Plagues & Potions
Well, bells are a staple of Nurgle (both in rat and Maggotkin form), but the rest of those potions look deadly and most likely carry some plagues! Of course, this could also be something for the Nighthaunt faction, like a new character.
At first glance, this looks very much something like Nighthaunts to us! While it could be something else for the Plague Monks, the hand and arm are so thin that it seems a safe bet to be something for the undead.
Unsolved From 2022:
September 13th, 2022: Sneaky Spider Slashers
This is clearly a spider’s head! That means a clear likely release for either one of two AoS factions. Gloomspite Gits and their spider riders or Chaos and their Spider Cult that was spotlighted in Warcry as a Warband. That said, we really hope it’s Gitz, as they need the help and probably even a rework soon!
In the 4th edition AoS book, we can spot this art which almost certainly is the rumor engine bit! Perhaps a new character/monster is coming soon?
