Here’s the Warhammer The Old World new releases roadmap schedule for 2025, release date, and previews for the upcoming miniatures!
Updated December 16th, 2024, by Rob Baer. This post has been updated with the new release roadmap for 2024-25, along with the latest from the new Empire of Man.
Warhammer The Old World is the grand revival of the legendary Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WFB) miniature wargame, making its triumphant return (technically debut) in January 2024 from Games Workshop. Armies of men, elves, Orcs, and dwarfs clashing in epic tabletop battles once more!
The Old World has finally arrived, and those classic square-based armies— noble Bretonnians, eerie Tomb Kings, and more—are back to ranking, flanking, and causing mayhem on our gaming tables again!
Warhammer The Old World New Release Date & Roadmap Schedule:
The Bretonnians and Tomb Kings were just the first two of nine factions arriving for Warhammer the Old World. They were quickly followed by Orc & Goblin Tribes and Dwarfen Mountain Holds, which seem to indicate a themed set of opposing releases for the Forces of Fantasy and the Ravening Hordes that has held true for all the releases like Warriors of Chaos, so far.
Warhammer The Old World 2025 Roadmap: Empire, High Elves, & Chaos Release Dates
The Empire is marching, the High Elves are scheming, and Chaos is, well, doing what Chaos does best: stirring up trouble. The Old World is about to get a whole lot more interesting, as the new release roadmap promises many exciting Warhammer miniatures for the game in the coming months, along with these release dates.
So, while the Old World might be taking its sweet time, you know what they say—good things come to those who wait. And in the meantime, there’s always another army to paint, right?
Launch Army Boxes
The Bretonnians and Tomb Kings heralded the game’s release with some pretty massive launch boxes, all the rules, and tokens you need to play.
Forget a single launch box for Warhammer: The Old World—GW came out with two giant core army boxes instead. Each box boasts a 1,250-point army packed with dozens of all-plastic miniatures. In these Launch Army Boxes, players get a full core rulebook, templates, dice, and everything else needed to dive straight into the action!

The lineup of the first Empire and Warhammer The Old World Releases for 2025 has been leaked, (on accident by Games Workshop.) You can see them here, but they will be officially previewed soon…
Grand Master of the Knights Panther, Harald Gemunsen
Remember that old-school Grand Master of the Knights Panther mini that was just leaked? Well, the new Harald Gemunsen figure definitely takes a page out of that classic book. And guess what? You’ll have the chance to snag the original (probably as MTO) when the Empire of Man range drops!
This guy pairs up with any valid Empire of Man army, but he really shines in the Knightly Order Army of Infamy, which lets you craft an army based around one of those legendary Knightly Orders. Plus, he’s made from Forge World resin and will be up for pre-order before you know it!
Three New Wizards Unleash the Winds of Magic For the Empire
Speaking of wizards, let’s check out these three magical misfits and their oddball sidekicks. First up is a Battle Wizard rocking Middenheim’s colors with a gnomish familiar that looks ready to burst under its own baggage. That whiff of Azyr magic? Definitely not subtle.
Next, there’s the Elementalist with a toad assistant, channeling the wild vibes of Ghyran and Ghur. If “nature magic” had a poster child, this duo would be it.
Last but not least, we’ve got a Necromancer. But don’t freak out—she’s one of the good ones, using the Wind of Death for the greater good. Her skeleton familiar might be a bit… vertically challenged, but hey, who’s judging?
Get ready to add a little arcane flair to your collection, these magical characters (and their quirky familiars) will hit the shelves in 2025, crafted from Forge World Resin and sold individually.
General Hans von Löwenhacke
General Hans von Löwenhacke has made a career out of marching to the beat of many different drums—sometimes all within the same lifetime. A seasoned tactician, he’s fought under nearly every major banner across the Empire, from Middenland to Osterlund, proving that loyalty to strategy often trumps loyalty to a single flag.
The lowdown on Nuln’s rules is coming your way in the upcoming Arcane Journal: Empire of Man. And if you’re looking to get your hands on the general, he’ll be strutting his stuff in Forge World resin.
Frydaal The Chainmaker
Unleash some Chaos with Frydaal the Chainmaker, your go-to Exalted Champion for any Chaos army—she’s like the perfect accessory that goes with everything! She really hits her stride in the Wolves of the Sea Army of Infamy. You can check out her rules and the details for her raiding crew in the Arcane Journal: Warriors of Chaos. And guess what? She’ll soon be strutting her stuff in Forge World Resin.
Empire of Man Returns With New, Classic Old World Models
Stunning new Empire of Man kits are on the way, featuring a battalion box, revamped classics, and rules updates for Warhammer: The Old World! From the clash of swords to the roar of artillery, the Empire marches once more, ready to defend its borders with unyielding resolve.
Be sure to check out all the new plastic kits and redesigned Forge World resin models coming to the tabletop next for Old World in our preview coverage here.
Burlok Damminson Gets a New Resin Model For the Old World
Dwarf Engineers might just be the Old World’s top tinkerers, though they’re often stifled by the Engineering Guild’s obsession with “the old ways.” But every now and then, a young genius breaks the mold—and a few beards—by proving innovation is worth the risk. Case in point: Burlok Damminson.
This up-and-comer has pushed Dwarf engineering further than anyone thought possible, and his latest rendition, crafted in Forge World resin, is set to hit pre-orders early next year.
More Exclusive Minis Returning For Warhammer The Old World
While they didn’t say when this Exalted Hero of Chaos from the 2009 Games Day would be making a return, they did tease a little more about all the other exclusive models returning.
Grand Cathay & Kislev Miniature Releases
When it comes to enjoying Fantasy Warhammer, it sometimes feels like the physical tabletop gets left in the dust. Games Workshop has released an update for those with the Shadows of Change DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, discussing Grand Cathay and Kislev faction updates.
Unfortunately, they dropped a little reminder for Old World players, which may be a bit disappointing. In May 2020, Games Workshop released an update on Kislev for Warhammer the Old World, but we haven’t seen much since.
Warhammer The Old World Base Sizes Guide
Games Workshop has released a Warhammer The Old World base sizes guide; check out what is changing and what models need rebasing.
As we gear up for another exciting year in Warhammer The Old World, it’s clear that 2025 is shaping up to be packed with incredible releases and fresh models that are sure to breathe new life into our tabletop battles. Plus, don’t miss out on the Amazon Secret Level 40k Animation featuring Lt. Titus, and keep your eyes peeled for the latest announcements on Henry Cavill’s big Warhammer project, too.
With so much on the horizon, it’s hard not to be excited about what they will reveal next. Be sure to check out all the other new release roadmap previews from Games Workshop below for Age of Sigmar, Horus Heresy, and, of course, Warhammer 40k as well:
