Khazalite Holds, High Kyng Valankrom Pre-Orders Revealed: Sunday Preview

Kazalite Holds pre-orders new next week

Games Workshop’s Sunday Preview revealed the new Age of Sigmar Khazalite Holds kits led by High Kyng Valankrom, hitting pre-order this Saturday.

Two weeks ago, the limited Khazalite Holds Army Set was the only way to get your hands on the new duardin. Now GW has revealed the rest of the range, and it’s all going up at once. We’re talking everything from High Kyng Valankrom on War Throne to a second Spearhead built around the Fyreslayers.

That was pretty quick, too. When we looked at the Khazalite Holds Army Set, we figured the standalone kits were three to four weeks away. Turns out GW went with the shorter end of that window. So if you’ve already built Drakkblud’s Clanguard, you can finally start adding to it.

Here’s everything going up for pre-order this Saturday, along with what we think of the new kits.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: New Pre-Order Releases

The latest Warhammer Age of Sigmar pre-orders are here.

Everything goes up for pre-order on Saturday, November 7, around 1 p.m. EST in the States, with a street date of Saturday, November 21, when the kits hit store shelves.

Still waiting for something else? Take a look at our updated Warhammer Roadmap for 2026 to see what’s coming.

High Kyng Valankrom

High Kyng Valankrom, Khazalite Holds duardin king with hammer Bharadreng, riding his War Throne

GW wasn’t messing around when it came to giving the new duardin a leader. Valankrom was crowned by Grungni himself, carries the hammer Bharadreng, and rolls into battle on a War Throne that’s big enough to be the centerpiece of your whole army.

Here’s something we really like, though. The kit also builds a regular Thrynn on War Throne. That’s a pretty handy option because named characters don’t always work in every list. Want to run a different hero? You can still put all that plastic on the table instead of leaving it in the box.

High Kyng Valankrom Hobby Tips

Keep the throne and rider separate while you’re building. Paint Valankrom before putting the model on the throne so you can actually reach that beard and all that gold trim. Glue the model in last, and try using the same metal color across the throne and the rest of your army to tie everything together.

Thrynn

Khazalite Holds Thrynn, an armored duardin lord of the karak

Don’t want to jump straight into a giant War Throne? The Thrynn might be more your speed. He’s the lord who actually leads the war throng, getting the clans together to go settle some grudges.

And since grudges are such a big part of how this army plays, we wouldn’t be surprised to see plenty of these guys leading the line.

If you’re building beyond the Army Set, a cheaper hero you can use in pretty much every game might make more sense than a big centerpiece that only comes out when you’re playing at higher points.

Thrynn Hobby Tips

Give the face and beard some extra attention. That’s where everyone’s going to look on a dwarf lord anyway. Start the beard with a warm brown, then highlight the individual braids with a lighter color so they don’t all blend together. Match his base to your Clanshields, and he’ll look right at home leading the front rank.

Runewright

Khazalite Holds Runewright duardin caster with a forgehammer and glowing runes

Runewrights handle the magic for the faction, and GW gave them a pretty cool way of doing it. They pull power from the earth, trap it in runes, then smack those runes with forgehammers to make them stronger.

No standing around waving a wizard staff here. Even the caster looks like he belongs in a shield wall. On the tabletop, we’d probably keep one behind the Clanshields, helping the line rather than letting him take hits up front.

Runewright Hobby Tips

Make those runes the brightest part of the miniature. Paint them a pale color first, then glaze your glow color outward so it looks like the light is coming from inside the stone. Keep the other colors fairly muted, and that glow will stand out a lot more.

Valayan Guardians

Unit of Khazalite Holds Valayan Guardians armed with runic halberds

Khazalite Holds Valayan Guardians alternate build with rune axes and shields

The Valayan Guardians are the best fighters in the karak, and you’ve got a couple of ways to build them. The box comes with runic halberds or rune axes and shields, plus the parts to make an optional champion.

Which way would you go? A lot probably depends on how you want to use the We Honour Valaya Ancestral Vow. GW says these guys can really lean into it to get even tougher.

They sure look like the kind of unit you park on an objective and dare somebody to move them. That’s about as dwarfy as it gets.

Valayan Guardians Hobby Tips

Choose your weapons before you start clipping parts off the sprue. Those shield arms affect how the models fit together in a rank, so dry-fit the whole unit on its bases first. It’s also worth painting the shield faces separately and gluing them on at the end. Much easier than trying to squeeze a brush behind them.

Clangunners

Unit of Khazalite Holds Clangunners duardin firing their guns

Khazalite Holds Clangunners alternate weapon build with command models

Need some guns for your duardin? That’s where the Clangunners come in, and GW gives you two pretty different options. You’ve got the longer-ranged Thrundok rifle, or the Thrundrin shotcannon if you’d rather let the enemy get uncomfortably close before opening fire.

There’s quite a bit in the box, too. You get a champion, standard bearer, and drummer with two drum options. Every regular Clangunner also gets a choice of two heads.

That’s nice if you’re planning on buying more than one unit. At least they won’t all look exactly the same when you line them up.

Clangunners Hobby Tips

Stick with one weapon type per unit so there’s no confusion when you’re deploying. Grab a pin vise and drill out those gun barrels while you’re building. For painting, give the drummer and standard bearer slightly brighter trim so you can pick them out from the rest of the unit.

Ormyr and Ashtongue

Ormyr, a nomadic Fyreslayer, with Ashtongue the Kyndledroth

Ormyr is a wandering Fyreslayer who shows up right before battle to fight for the duardin. And he’s not coming alone. He’s got Ashtongue, a Kyndledroth he rescued from a pack of hobgrots.

Come on, a dwarf running around with a baby Magmadroth? That’s exactly the sort of character we wanted to see out of this whole merger.

He’s also a pretty good example of what the Fyreslayers joining the battletome actually means for the model range. The Grimmdron aren’t just getting tucked into the rules and forgotten about. They’re getting new characters right alongside the Khazalite kits.

Ormyr and Ashtongue Hobby Tips

We’d paint Ashtongue first. He’s small enough to finish pretty quickly, and you’ll have your fire colors figured out before tackling Ormyr. Start the scales with dark orange and work up to yellow on the edges. Then match Ormyr’s skin and hair to your other Fyreslayers so they look like they belong to the same lodge.

Hjulda Drakkblud

Hjulda Drakkblud, Khazalite Holds hero with the two-handed axe Azangrom

Hjulda is the last survivor of her clan, traveling around to reclaim fallen karaks and hoping one of them turns out to be her old home. She’s carrying the two-handed axe Azangrom, and up until now, you could only get her in the Army Set.

Sure, plenty of people who jumped in early already have her. But now you can pick her up without buying another whole box of Clanguard.

That’s good news if you skipped the Army Set or just want another Hjulda for a different list.

Hjulda Drakkblud Hobby Tips

Try a cloak color that contrasts with your Clanshields so she stands out as the leader. If the hands give you enough room, paint the axe head before gluing everything together. A light silver drybrush on the armor edges should work nicely, too. She’s been traveling for a while, after all.

💡 Hjulda Drakkblud first came in the Khazalite Holds Army Set box, see our coverage here.

Clanshields

Unit of Khazalite Holds Clanshields duardin infantry with shields

Clanshields are your basic infantry, the dwarfs who hold objectives and go looking to avenge their fallen kin. There are plenty of build options in the kit, too.

The Army Set only came with ten of these guys, so being able to buy them separately is a pretty big deal. After all, if your army spends a lot of time sitting on objectives, ten bodies probably aren’t going to cut it.

We wouldn’t be surprised if these are some of the first kits to sell out at the local game store.

Clanshields Hobby Tips

Paint these guys in batches of five to keep things manageable. Get all the base coats done, then tackle the shields as a separate step. Mix up the weapon options across the ranks, too, so the whole unit doesn’t look like the same miniature over and over.

💡 Clanshields first came in the Khazalite Holds Army Set box, see our coverage here.

Oathkeeper Cannon

Khazalite Holds Oathkeeper Cannon and Stonebreaker Mortar war machine builds

Got a monster problem? The Oathkeeper Cannon is built to take down big, tough targets from range. But the same box can also make a Stonebreaker Mortar, which is more about blasting big groups of infantry.

That’s what makes this kit interesting. You’re getting two ways to deal with very different armies, so if everyone at your store is running monsters, the cannon sounds like the obvious choice. Facing big blocks of infantry every week? You might get more use out of the mortar.

Oathkeeper Cannon Hobby Tips

Don’t glue the barrel on right away. Leaving it separate makes painting inside the carriage a whole lot easier. A dark metal base with brass trim should look good, and a bit of soot around the muzzle won’t hurt. If you want to switch between the cannon and mortar, look at magnetizing the barrel mount.

💡 Oathkeeper Cannon first came in the Khazalite Holds Army Set box, see our coverage here.

Gholems of Gazul

Khazalite Holds Gholems of Gazul stone constructs with two-handed hammers

Khazalite Holds Gholems of Valaya alternate build with axes and large shields

The Gholems are living statues carved to look like Gazul, the Keeper of the Gate. These guys carry massive two-handed hammers, but you can also build the kit as Gholems of Valaya, with big axes and shields to defend the hearth.

After painting a pile of armor and beards, working on stone constructs sounds like a nice change. And you’ve got a proper choice with the builds. Want something to hit hard? Go with the hammers. Need a unit to hold the line? That’s where the shield build comes in.

Gholems of Gazul Hobby Tips

These should be pretty straightforward to paint. Start with a gray base, add a dark wash, and give the stone a heavy drybrush. Work a little green or brown into the recesses so they look like old tomb stone instead of freshly poured concrete. Use the same glow color on the runes as your Runewright to tie the models together.

💡 Gholems of Gazul first came in the Khazalite Holds Army Set box, see our coverage here.

Magmic Fyrd Spearhead

Magmic Fyrd Spearhead contents with Auric Runefather on Magmadroth, Vulkyn Flameseekers and Auric Hearthguard

The Army Set already gave us a complete Spearhead, and now there’s another one for the duardin, this time focused on the Fyreslayers.

Inside the Magmic Fyrd box, you’re getting an Auric Runefather on Magmadroth, an Auric Runesmiter, nine Vulkyn Flameseekers, and five Auric Hearthguard.

If you’ve already got Fyreslayers and want to get into the new battletome without starting an army from scratch, this looks like the box for you.

Plus, getting a Magmadroth in a Spearhead is a pretty big centerpiece. This one should feel quite different from playing Drakkblud’s Clanguard.

Magmic Fyrd Spearhead Hobby Tips

Start with the Magmadroth so you can figure out your fire colors for the rest of the box. Build the rider separately, and pin him before you glue him onto the beast. When you get to the infantry, paint all the Fyreslayer skin in one sitting to keep the tones consistent across the Flameseekers and Hearthguard.

Regiment of Renown: Fjori’s Vengeance

Fjori's Vengeance Regiment of Renown with Grimhold Exile, Auric Flamekeeper and Hearthguard Berzerkers

Want to throw some angry Fyreslayers into your Grand Alliance: Order army? That’s what Fjori’s Vengeance is for.

The box comes with a Grimhold Exile, an Auric Flamekeeper, and five Hearthguard Berzerkers. Like the other Regiments of Renown, the idea is to bring these Grimmdron into an army that isn’t normally built around them.

Now, you might remember the older Fjori’s Flamebearers box, which also had a Grimhold Exile. This isn’t quite the same deal. The new one adds an Auric Flamekeeper and cuts things down to a single unit of Berzerkers.

So no, it’s not just the old box with different artwork.

Fjori’s Vengeance Hobby Tips

Give the Grimhold Exile a darker, ashier paint scheme than the rest of the box to show that he’s survived the loss of his hold. If you’ve already got Hearthguard, keep the Berzerkers’ weapons looking consistent with them. And since this regiment can join another Order army, match the bases to whichever army you’re planning to use it with.

Khazalite Holds Battletome

Khazalite Holds Battletome standard edition and Gamer's Edition with reference cards

Skipped the Army Set but still want the rules? Now you can grab the Khazalite Holds Battletome on its own.

It’s got the lore, artwork, painted miniatures, and rules for the newest Age of Sigmar faction, so you’re not missing out on the book just because you didn’t buy the big box.

There’s also a smaller Gamer’s Edition with all the same content, plus 53 reference cards. That version is only available while stocks last.

If you’re more interested in playing games than sitting down to read the lore, the Gamer’s Edition might be the one to pick up.

Khazalite Holds Dice

The new faction dice are frosted green acrylic with gold markings and the Khazalite Holds logo on the 6.

Like most faction dice we’ve seen lately, these are only available while stocks last. So if you want dice that match your duardin, you probably don’t want to leave these off your pre-order.

White Dwarf Magazine: New Monthly Pre-Order

The latest White Dwarf is going up for pre-order, with more lore, miniature spotlights, and hobby tips.

White Dwarf 530

November’s White Dwarf has plenty of Khazalite Holds content, including interviews with the miniature designers, the ‘Eavy Metal team, and the artists who worked on the battletome.

Want to know how the new faction came together? Sounds like this is the issue to pick up.

There’s also an Adeptus Custodes battle report, along with all the regular White Dwarf sections.

Black Library: New Pre-Order Releases

We’ve got new Black Library pre-orders, too. Whether you’re into big battles, mysterious quests, or stories about heroes, there’s something worth checking out.

Wrath of Terra: The Scouring Book 2

Wrath of Terra, The Scouring Book 2 by John French, standard hardback

Wrath of Terra Premium Edition with black leather-effect cover and silver medallion

The Horus Heresy is over, but there’s still plenty going on. John French’s Wrath of Terra follows the Loyalists as they head to Mars to take the red planet back from the Dark Mechanicum.

Meanwhile, there’s political maneuvering happening on Terra, and the Blood Angels are still dealing with the death of Sanguinius.

You’ve got two versions to choose from: a standard hardback and a Premium Edition with a black leather-effect cover and silver-finish medallion.

Here’s where you need to pay attention to the release details because the Premium Edition has a different pre-order date: Wednesday, November 11, at 15:00 UK time, or 10 a.m. EST in the States.

It’s only available while stocks last too, although GW says there’s a chance it’ll get another print run later, plus French and German paperback editions are coming, as well.

Final Thoughts on the Khazalite Holds Pre-Orders

Khazalite Holds pre-order lineup from the Games Workshop Sunday Preview

This is a pretty big week for the Khazalite Holds. If you grabbed the Army Set, you’ve finally got the kits to build out the rest of your army instead of trying to make ten Clanshields do all the work. And if you’re a Fyreslayer player, the Magmic Fyrd Spearhead gives you a way into the new battletome without starting over.

There’s still more coming, too. GW says more battleforces are being revealed tomorrow, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see something for Horus Heresy hit the 2026 Christmas boxes lineup now, too.

Either way, you might want to save a little hobby money before those holiday boxes show up, and whatever else Games Workshop has planned for the Warhammer Black Friday this year.
