This symbol matched exactly with an existing Skink character, so seeing it on another isn’t all that shocking.

We thought this would be tied to all the new Duardin rumors, but it turned out to be something maybe even cooler, the new Legion of the Damned!

We might have gotten our hopes too high for this one. We wanted to see Kislev make a return to the game, but instead it’s another new mini for the Khazalite holds (which is still really cool).
August 25th, 2026: Revealed on September 18th, 2026
We had heard the rumors about the new Duardin faction when this Rumor Engine came out, and it ended up being for the new Khazalite Holds minis.

This was a pretty easy guess and turned out to be for the new Tomb Kings minis.

We originally thought these rocks looked like they fit with the Lumineth Realm-lords, but they are for a faction we didn’t even know about at the time!

We expected this would be for Seraphon, as it’s very similar to the Slaan Starmaster. We thought maybe we would see it in a specialist game, but it’s coming for AoS instead.

September 22nd, 2026: Autoguns Back in Style
This really looks like it could be another Necromunda gang refresh, especially with the new big box set and RPG game both in the mix. Orlock hasn’t seen new miniatures in a while, and some of the details here look pretty close to the weapon barrels already used across the gang.
Of course, it could also be for any chaff-type unit in 40k and Chaos Cultists could very well get some new minis.
Warhammer Rumor Engines: Unsolved From 2024
November 19th, 2024: A Pale Spear Primarch Preview?
This Rumor Engine can only really be a spear or a staff at an odd orientation, but the sharp edge definitely makes us lean heavily towards spears, and while Eldar and Aelves are possible, the clearest choice seems to be Necrons! But it is giving off some Alpha Legion vibes as well.
Is this the “Pale Spear” to a new Alpharius that would be the third new model in the revamped Forge World character series that they said would represent the primarchs at the height of the heresy? There are some similarities between the rumor engine weapon and the existing model’s above.
Rumor is that Alpharius’s Pale Spear dates back to before the first Aeldari appeared, and the Necrons have a similar weapon called the Hyperphase Blade.
Speaking of Necrons, they have a few older models that could go for a pick-me-up or even a brand-new guard or royalty-style model! However, the bit looks bone-like, which would be interesting for a new Necron…
September 10th, 2024: Hot Fire New Weapon
Looking at this bit, it is very clearly a bladed weapon with ridges that seem to imitate fire! Two options that immediately came to mind are Orks and Necromunda, where gangs make do with what they can!
Unsolved From 2022: Warhammer Rumor Engine
September 13th, 2022: Sneaky Spider Slashers
The oldest current Warhammer Rumor Engine is clearly a spider’s head! That means a clear likely release for either one of two AoS factions. Gloomspite Gits and their spider riders, or Chaos and their Spider Cult, which was spotlighted in Warcry as a Warband. That said, we really hope it’s Gitz, as they need the help and probably even a rework soon!
In the 4th edition AoS book, we can spot this art which almost certainly is the rumor engine bit! Perhaps a new character/monster is coming soon?
Unsolved From 2021: The Advent Engine Holdout

The oldest teaser still sitting on the community’s unsolved lists isn’t technically a Rumor Engine at all. Games Workshop posted it as an Advent Engine during its December 2021 countdown, and nearly five years later nobody has matched this bit to a released kit.
