The new Munitorum Field Manual has the latest Warhammer 40k points updates and changes from June 2026 to build your new 11th Edition army lists now!
In 11th Edition Warhammer 40k, point costs, datasheets, army rules, codex books, and even the Balance Dataslate are constantly being updated, which is probably a good thing: no one likes an eternal format.
Now, with the new edition, Wargear, Starting Strengths, and even Requisitional Thresholds all have to be tracked as well.
So, once again, with the latest Warhammer 40k points update, it’s time to make new lists, as the game itself is in flux once again. Here is our breakdown of all the new Warhammer 40k points changes from the latest Munitorum Field Manual.

The 11th Edition MFM Reads Like a Whole Different Document Now
Honestly, the new Munitorum Field Manual isn’t just a points refresh. It’s a whole different way of building a list. GW kept the red and green change markers we’re used to (raises in red, drops in green, with the number in brackets), but underneath that familiar surface, there’s a lot of new machinery driving what a list costs and what you’re even allowed to take.
Starting Strenght
Unit costs aren’t a single number anymore. Starting Strength matters in two ways: some units scale per model (1, 2, 3, and so on), while others give you a band with a floor and a ceiling. The catch on the “band units” is that if you go even one model over the minimum, you pay the maximum cost.
So a 6-model squad inside a 5-to-10 band costs the same as a 10-model squad. That’s a real “round up or play minimum” decision that’s part of the points cost now.
Requisition Thresholds
Then there’s the new Requisition Thresholds rule, and this one’s where it gets interesting. If you include the same unit more than the stated number of times, the cost increases for the extra copies.
It’s basically a soft tax on spam without GW having to write a hard cap. Wargear stays per item on top of the unit cost, and any unit with the Leader or Support ability now lists which units it can attach to right under its points. So, no more digging through a half-dozen FAQ entries to figure out who rides with who.
Detachment Points
Detachments got the same treatment. Each one carries a Detachment Points (DP) value, and your DP budget scales with battle size through the Warhammer 40,000 app. Every detachment also grants a Force Disposition, which actually affects the missions you play, not just your in-game tools. Enhancements have their own per-detachment points lines, and some detachments carry a Unique tag, meaning you can’t take two detachments that share the same tag.
So if you were dreaming about double-stacking your favorite themed detachment in 11th Edition, the MFM is closing that door before you start.
Quarterly Update: June 2026 40k Points Changes
The new Munitorum Field Manual went live this morning, and it is the most lopsided dataslate we have seen in months. Twenty-eight factionswere updated with over 300 individual point changes across the entire Warhammer 40k 10th Edition roster, and the spread between winners and losers is wide enough to redraw the meta this weekend.
Orks pulled eighteen buffs and only ate two nerfs, while shockingly, T’au pulled ten buffs and ate one. On the other end of the table, Imperial Knights, Chaos Knights, and Genestealer Cults all collected zero buffs and a stack of increases…
Then there is also a quiet pattern hiding in the Chaos updates: every shared unit like the Defiler, Chaos Land Raider, Chaos Predator, and Chaos Vindicator climbed across every Chaos codex it appears in. Death Guard, Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Emperor’s Children, and CSM all paid the same tax on the same chassis, which is basically GW telling you those shared platforms were under-costed across the whole faction tree.
Check out the winners and losers section below for the more detailed breakdown.
40k Points Updates: Big Winners, Buffed Factions
- Orks and T’au own this MFM: Orks got 18 buffs including a 200-pt Stompa cut, T’au got 10 buffs across Crisis suits, Pathfinders, and aircraft.
- Knights paid a faction-wide tax: every Imperial Knight chassis and most Chaos Knights went up 10 to 30 points with zero offsetting buffs.
- Shared Chaos units climbed across every codex: Defiler, Chaos Land Raider, Chaos Predator, and Chaos Vindicator are now more expensive for Death Guard, World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Emperor’s Children, and CSM.

The Munitorum Field Manual (MFM) is Games Workshop’s official points reference for Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition, listing every unit’s current points cost for use in matched play and tournaments. It’s updated quarterly (well, sometimes sooner for emergency meta updates) as part of the Balance Dataslate cycle. Best of all, it is free to download from Warhammer Community.

Final Thoughts on the Munitorium Field Manual 40k Points Update
The real test now is going to be how Requisition Thresholds reshape the 11th edition tournament meta. Spam lists that ate competitive play in 10th Edition might suddenly cost more than the rest of the army, and that’s before you factor in Force Disposition narrowing your mission pool.
The Codex writers now have a real way to discourage stacking without ever writing hard rules text, and TOs are going to spend the next month figuring out which lists got quietly nerfed by math instead of by FAQ.
Don’t forget that GW said the MFM would (probably) get updated with the Balance Dataslate rules each month now, and then move to a quarterly update starting in October 2026.
The new June 2026 Warhammer 40k points update makes it clear that Warhammer 40k is anything but static, and this round gave us plenty of winners, losers, and middle-ground armies looking for fresh tricks.
So, whether your favorite army got stronger or weaker, it’s an exciting time to develop new strategies based on these Warhammer 40k points updates and the balance dataslate.

Ive been thinking about getting back into 40k after a bit of a break (since 2nd ed): talking to a friend that still plays, messing about with army lists, catching up with the new rules and lore. But this stuff is really putting me off. GW have had 40 years to refine this game (and plenty of cash to hire designers), why do they need to revise it so much *between* editions?
The Legends status also seems weird: are those units in the game or not? If they’re so unbalanced or whatever, why did they get released in the first place?
I guess I really just want some reassurance that there is still casual play and you don’t have to replace all your stuff the second GW announces a change.
