Today, we’re getting a look at the updated Dark Vengeance Starter rules for 8th edition. Come take a look at the Crimson Slaughter and Dark Angels!
The French Connection is at it again uploading photos to Imgur of the new Imperial Armour books. Let’s take a closer look at some of the rules for the Dark Angels and Crimson Slaughter.
Balthasar is coming in strong equipped with a combi-plasma, power sword, frag grenades, and krak grenades. With the combi-plasma you have the choice of firing with one or both of the following: Boltgun, which has a 24″ range, Strength 4, and does 1 damage. Or the plasma gun, also with a 24″ range, Strength 7, AP -3, and does 1 damage.
They are both Rapid Fire 1. He’s got a 6″ move, WS 2+, BS 2+, Strength 4, Toughness 4, 5 Wounds, 4 Attacks, Leadership 9, and a 3+ Save. With a 2+ WS/BS he won’t be missing much.
The Ravenwing Bike Squad Arion contains a Ravenwing Sergeant Arion and 3 Ravenwing Bikers. The only difference between Sergeant Arion and the other Bikers is he is equipped with a chainsword, one additional attack, and a Leadership 8 instead of 7. One Biker is armed with a plasma gun, each model’s bike is equipped with a twin boltgun, and each model is also armed with a bolt pistol, frag grenades, and krak grenades.
With a 14″ move this is a very fast unit, combo that with the Turbo-boost ability which adds 6″ to the move characteristic when the unit advances instead of rolling dice. Ultimately giving you a 20″ move and the ability to get in your opponents face in a moments notice.
Next we’re going to take a look at a couple units from the Crimson Slaughter section. First up is going to be Kranon the Relentless. Kranon has a pretty good stat line with a 6″ Move, WS/BS 2+, Strength 4, Toughness 4, 5 Wounds, 4 Attacks, Leadership 9, 3+ Save, and a 4+ Invulnerable Save with the Sigil of Corruption Ability.
He’s coming equipped with a plasma pistol, power sword, and frag grenades. The Plasma pistol has some options with it though. When attacking you can choose one of the following Profiles: Standard or Supercharged. Both are Pistol 1, 12″ Range, and AP -3. The Supercharge profile has a Strength of 8 and does 2 damage. However, if you roll a 1 with the supercharged the bearer of the weapon is slain. Nothing like a little Russian Roulette…
Vrosh Tattersoul comes armed with a bolt pistol, combi-melta, power axe, frag grenades, and krak grenades. He makes a great support unit with the Aspire to glory ability which allows you to re-roll failed wound rolls in the Fight Phase for friendly Crimson Slaughter units that are within 6″ of Vrosh Tattersoul. But if you want to get him into battle he should be pretty comfortable there as well. For the Dark Gods ability let you re-roll failed hit rolls for Vrosh if the target is an enemy Character. He has a WS 2+ and a BS 3+ which means you’ll be hitting most your attacks and re-rolling the ones you don’t. So don’t be afraid to get him in there and put some pressure on your opponent.
