Just Play Casual? Friendly 40k & You

Primaris marinesDo you even casual bro? Checkout some ideas for playing casual 40k that one store is doing for it’s November casual themed play nights.

The store is kicking a new event: casual 40K games every Sunday in November. Here is the 1st week’s special theme and why casual 40K is amaze-balls.

Now, it’s no secret that I enjoy the crap out of tournaments, cheesy lists and a good ol’ fashion hardcore tournament from time to time. But I also enjoy taking dumb lists that are either super gimmicky, or just themed fun.

While they are fun, taking them to tournaments is not great because you usually end up getting curbed stomped.

So I made some to just kick back and have a blast while watching football in the background. To give you an example, I’ll be playing the Primaris half of Dark Imperium this week.

Week one is on the 5th of November, so it would be pretty hard to miss this opportunity in our themed mission:

HERE COMES THE CRESCENDO!

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

Format – 50 Power Level.

You must include an Elite unit as part of your army.  No painting requirement, but no proxying, and no counts as (the most important rule in playing with Power Levels).

The game is played on a 4′ x 4′ area and in the middle of the board is a statue (or any suitable terrain you have, just make sure it’s cool). The statue has the following stats: T- 7  W- 15

The statue can’t be wounded or targeted by Psychic Powers. Unless it gets destroyed, the statue goes back to 15 wounds at the end of every phase. Once it’s destroyed, remove it from the board and place an objective marker in it’s stead. It is now a Relic.

At the end of the game, the player that destroyed the statue gets 3 points. The player with the Relic earns 3 points.  Slay the Warlord is also 3 points. There is no Linebreaker or First Blood in this.

You can use the following Warlord Trait:

WARLORD TRAIT – Ideas are Bulletproof

At the end of the phase the first time your warlord is killed, roll a dice. On 2+ he comes back in play with one wound. Place it has close as possible to where it was, more than an inch away from enemy models. This effect does not stack with similar effects (ex. Roboute Guilliman/Celestine).

What you have are bullets, and the hope that when your guns are empty I’m no longer be standing…

If you enjoy this series, let me know, as we are running this every weekend this month. The 26th event gives you a bonus for taking part in the Movember/No-shave-November. It will most likely will be called ‘Stache of Glory.
