Obviously, magnets for this Chaos Knights will be extremely useful for changing your army lists between not just games but new codex books and editions of the rules.

But you’re here to learn how to magnetize the dude, not talk about how he’s thrown on a sprue. So here’s what you need to do to future-proof this bad boy.

Chaos Knights Desecrator Instructions

How to Magnetize Chaos Knights Desecrator 2There are a few things to watch out for in the instructions. The weapon options in the top right here will decide which version of the Knight you choose. However, they can all be magnetized. You’ll need some 1/4″ and 5/16″ magnets for the arm bits; that way, you can change out the weapons.

How to Magnetize Chaos Knights Desecrator 3The only other things to watch out for in the instructions are the top carapace and the smoke stacks. Rob wants to magnetize the whole thing, and they want you to attach the carapace to the shoulder plates, but we’ll avoid that if we can.

Magnetizing the Knight

chaos knight magnet 1First, you’ll want to magnetize the waist and torso. This doesn’t do anything for changing wargear, but it makes your life so much easier if you’re transporting it. The magnets used here were 1/2″ diameter, but that’s only because Rob ran out of the magnets he recommends.

Typically, he uses 5/16″ x 1/16″ magnets for the waist and torso.

chaos knight magnet 2For the torso, you might have to make some framework either with a sprue bit and some plastic putty or Greenstuff. Either way, you’ll want to block off the hole and ensure the magnet is secured to whatever sealer you use on the inside of the torso so it does not pop out into the sealed-up body cavity.

chaos knight magnet 3For the elbow magnets, which are probably the most essential part of future-proofing the model, you’ll want to use two 1/4″ x  1/16″ magnets in the top segment of the arm (because the glue point is recessed in) and one 5/16 x 1/16″ magnet in the arm bit.

How to Magnetize Chaos Knights Desecrator 4For the actual hands/weapons, you could use some small magnets to magnetize them for movement only, but Rob didn’t think it was super worth it because of the ball joint at the wrist.

How to Magnetize Chaos Knights Desecrator 5If you want to be able to take the top carapace off and on, you will, unfortunately, have to leave the smoke stacks off. However, you could always blue-tac them for games. So make sure the waist magnet (if you use one) is very secure. That way, you dont have to tear apart the smokestacks and/or carapace to get to the inside of the model if the magnet comes loose.
