LoTR Minas Tirith LEGO Idea Kit Fully Supported!

minas tirithAfter being proposed via the LEGO Ideas portal, this new Minas Tirith Kit has been fully supported and hopefully will see an official release!

If you didn’t already know, LEGO puts up fan-created kits on their Ideas site for builders to vote on. This gives the kits an opportunity to garner support from the community and the best kits can then be created as official products!

The proposed Minas Tirith kit can be found there, but we will also cover some of the details below.

The user who designed this kit, GJC15344, had this to say about his inspiration:

This design is a play and display set of one of the most iconic fictional castles. The set is based on Peter Jackson’s interpretation of the white city from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. The battle for Minas Tirith featured in the movie “The Return of the King”, is one of the most memorable cinematic battles ever. The LEGO Lord of the Rings theme misses just this one set to live up to the epic legacy of the Lord of the Rings franchise.

If anything is true, it’s that this kit looks just like the real deal. Not to mention the scenes from LoTR in this city are close to many people who grew up in and around the setting.

minas tirith splitThis set features three levels of walls, which are characteristic for Minas Tirith’s appearance. The lower and upper wall are on minifigure scale. They feature working gates and walkable ramparts: perfectly playable to relive your version of the battle of Minas Tirith. The lower section of the citadel tower features a throne room. The citadel tower can be easily detached from the upper wall section, to enhance playability.

Of course, after this set sees some play, it can be re-setup and placed on display as that is one of its main purposes as such an iconic place.

minas tirith siegeThe full set depicts the siege of Minas Tirith including a tower, catapults, and a handful of Minifigures including Gandalf.  All of those give the set a ton of display options.

This kit looks awesome, but have you seen the scene in the movie before? Do you like these fan-made IDEAS kits?
