Is it Worth It?
If you need Tzaangors, this box seems worth it. But if not, it’s probably a pass, as the contents have been bundled and repackaged for years now. Really, all the value comes in the Tzaangors, so if you want them, buy them if you don’t pass.
Still, if you need the models inside, it saves you some cash and will get you a lot of minis for less than the face value.
How Many Points is it?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Thousand Sons Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 400 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to cast spells, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Scarab Occult Terminators
Scarab Occult Terminators were once the top psykers in the Thousand Sons Legion, even guarding Magnus the Red himself. Now reduced to dust, they retain just a shadow of their former minds. They march into battle under the command of their sorcerous masters, advancing with an eerie calm. Decked out in ornate armor, they silently bear down on their enemies until unleashing their deadly weaponry.
Tzaangors
Tzaangors are wild, bird-like beastmen, twisted by Tzeentch’s power from both followers and enemies. These mutants have an uncanny sensitivity to omens and arcane energy, chasing the winds of fate while wielding enchanted blades with fierce skill and crazed energy.
Infernal Master
Infernal Masters strike deals with daemonic entities known as tutelaries, straight out of Prospero’s lore. With jagged chants and promises of blood and souls, they summon these dark familiars to unleash swarms of momentarily tangible horrors on their enemies, glean whispers of the future, or command the very currents of the warp.
New Thousand Sons Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for close combat mayhem, the Coven Temporus comes loaded with rules to help you blast across the battlefield. The Coven may be all about daemons and spells, but they’re still Thousand Sons at heart, rocking the same Cabal of Sorcerers army rule as before.
What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their melee game even more. You can get all the new Thousand Sons Combat Patrol rules right here.
Arch Diabolist Rule
This warrior has made plenty of bizarre deals with the daemonic entities of the warp, gaining twisted powers and infernal allies. Thanks to these dark pacts, his enemies never know where he’ll strike next with his devastating abilities.
Effect? The bearer gains the Deep Strike and Lone Operative abilities. Plus, both of his Screamer Invocation weapon profiles now have the [PISTOL] ability. Unpredictable and deadly!
Stratagem
Chanted spells conjure flames of vivid purple and blue that eagerly leap onto enemies, burning even more fiercely when the target is large and imposing. Until the end of the phase, your unit’s melee weapons gain the [LETHAL HITS] ability. Plus, when attacking a Monster or Vehicle, any unmodified Hit roll of 5+ counts as a Critical Hit. Time to watch those big targets burn!
What to Buy Next?
Well, you need way more sorcerers! To take advantage of the army rule, you want a decent number of characters who can build up those cabal points. Then, you’ll need some Rubric Marines to help keep objectives and use their toughness to move up the board.
You can also grab some Tzaangors Enlightened and characters on discs to move fast and grab objectives in early turns. Lastly, you’ll want some more punch, which you can either get with Magnus the Red, more Terminators, or vehicles.
There is also something to be said about just buying the minis you think are cool and building an army around them! Don’t forget to grab the new rules for this faction and brush up on how to play them. We’ve got you covered in this article! The Thousand Sons Combat Patrol offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the faction.
