New Termite Assault Drills & Campaign Book Explode Into LI!

Termite Assault Drills 3GW previewed not only Termite Assault Drills for Legions Imperialis but also another campaign book, as this is the last HH preview for a while.

When you need to attack your enemy from under the earth, the Termite is the transport you need! However, it looks like these rules will be paywalled in another campaign book, and Horus Heresy Thursday (where they reveal new models for LI or HH) is going to be replaced by reveals for AoS—at least for the next few months until the 4th Edition drops.

Termite Assault Drills Exploding Into Legions Imperialis!

Here is the latest on the Termite Assault Drill and new campaign book teaser from Warhammer Community.

Termite Assault Drills

Yes, if Rhinos, Land Raiders, or Thunderhawk Gunships aren’t doing the job you want getting your footslogging Space Marines from A to B, it’s time to think in the other third dimension: underground.

With Transport (2) and Deep Strike each Termite can deliver an angry payload of Legiones Astartes right where they’re most needed, and with twin-linked bolters and a reasonable +1 CAF (representing the melta-cutters on the front), they add a little extra close support – especially in the forthcoming Subterranean Assault formation.

The drill is such a cool idea and super fun to throw on the table. Sometimes, you can’t attack from the air or on the ground, so you take the other path, underground! Imagine a giant squad of Space Marines popping out in your lines from one of these; you are in trouble!

Termite Assault Drills 2

The Assault Drills use the same design as the larger-scale resin miniatures available for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – but crucially they have been remastered in glorious plastic. The Termite Assault Drills will be available soon, with eight of them to a box.

If you love the current design, you’re in luck; these are the same, just way scaled down and in plastic. Maybe, since these are in plastic, GW can make the big ones in plastic, too!

Now, onto some maybe bad news (depending on whether you also play AoS).

Horus Heresy Thursday Taking a Break & New Campaign Book

Skaven Models 4th Edition AoS

And finally, this will be the last instalment of Heresy Thursday for a few months, while we turn our focus to the Mortal Realms. Our regular Thursday feature will return later in the summer.

Since the new edition of HH dropped in 2022, nearly every Thursday, new miniatures have been previewed for that or Legions Imperialis. Now, those will be replaced with new AoS miniatures. However, once the 4th Edition drops, we hope they return back to Horus Heresy.

Adeptus Titanicus Returns

* You may have registered that rules for the Termite aren’t available either in the main rulebook or in The Great Slaughter – hopefully you can put two and two together here!

Finally, they basically say these new models will be paywalled in yet another new campaign book. It’s definitely cool to get extra rules for a game; however, having to pay for unit rules is never the case. Either way, it looks like that will be the case.

Overall, the Termite Assault Drill is a fantastic addition to the Legions Imperialis army. With its ability to transport troops underground and deliver them right where they’re needed, it’s a force to be reckoned with. While it’s unfortunate that the rules for this unit will be paywalled in a new campaign book, it’s still exciting to see new additions to the game.

As for Horus Heresy Thursday, we’ll have to wait until later in the summer to see what new miniatures and models will be revealed.
