Catachan Colonel Going for Stupid Money on eBay Already

catachan-colonel-ebayThe exclusive 40k Catachan Colonel is going for stupid money on eBay already, amid rumors of allocations and shortages for local game stores.

The new Catachan colonel was announced by GW to serve as a helping hand to independent retailers in these difficult times. However, there are a lot of rumors unfolding already around the model.

Colonel Is Being Sent to Retailers As Financial Help in Crisis

Before we jump into the latest, we should note that GW came out of the gate saying that he was on the way to help store’s financial margins. Now with that in the back of your mind, here’s the latest on everything that’s happening.

The Colonel is Going For Stupid Money on eBay

Rumors Are Emerging From EU Stores

imperial guard hor walVia industry insiders, rumor has it that retail stores have been told they’re only getting 2-3 minis per location. We don’t have to spell it out to know that this could only cause problems in the community from severely low stock as well as the fact that GW sent these minis to give them a boost of income in their time of need. Retailers are also supposedly able to order the mini starting on May 9th.

What We HOPE Games Workshop Will Do…

catachan colonel model independent retailerIf all of these rumors and reports are true, it’s safe to say that a majority of the people that want one of these minis will not be getting one.

If GW sent these minis in such low numbers to retailer stores because they themselves were allocated, then they should, in our opinion, honor additional orders from stores for this model. It could then be supplied to LGS later on as GW themselves have done for their own last two MTO releases during the crisis.

That way, Game Stores who have helped build Games Workshop’s empire in good times and bad, get to keep 100% of the proceeds in a manner that is meaningful.

While the details surrounding this model sounded great at first, if the rumors are true this may be more of a hassle than a help in our opinion.   We hope GW does the right thing and allows stores to make as much from this release as possible, so all ships continue to rise with the hobby tide.
